    ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

Thank you for your purchase from Railston Shop Equipment. For your safety and the safety of others please assemble your equipment in accordance with these instructions. Please ensure safe loading using our guide and prolong the life and look of the equipment by following our recommendations.

    Recommended Tools Required for Assembly:

Rubber Mallet Spirit Level Tape Measure

Unpack the items so you can see the parts and we recommend you have the tools above to hand. Assembly is a 2-person job. Note that these instructions are generic and cover the range of equipment we sell, therefore your parts may differ from the pictures, however the method of construction will be the same. If you feel you need further assistance then please refer to our video tutorial on: http://www.railstonshopequipment/assembly-instructions.

    UPRIGHTS & BASE LEGS

Measure the uprights and base legs to identify which go together.

If the unit is a double-side gondola you will need to add an additional base leg to the other side of the column as shown.

    WALL FIXING

We recommend using wall-fixing brackets for wall bays. Use one wall fixing bracket per column. The L-shaped wall-fixing bracket should be attached to the wall and upright as shown above. The bracket prevents movement but does not add any structural strength.

Firstly, loosen the adjustable foot (other wise this may be difficult to adjust later.) Then lock the base leg into the upright as shown in the picture, you may need to tap it with the rubber mallet to ensure a snug fit.

Plain, pegboard and slat back panels are assembled in the same way. Plain and peg back panels are available at 400 and 500mm heights, slat panels are available only at 100mm. The number of panels required depends on the height of the upright:

HOW TO FIT BACK PANELS KICK PLATE

The panels also come in 3 widths – 665mm, 1000mm and 1250mm. Select the back panels needed for the bay.

Fit the back panels onto the bay as show in the picture, starting with the bottom one and working to the top. For double-sided gondolas and end bays you need to apply back panels to both sides of the upright.

Once the back panels are in place put the bay in its final location and level it using the spirit level, adjusting the feet on the bottom of the base leg using a 13mm spanner.

Attach the kick plate to the front of the base legs as shown in the picture below:

    BASE SHELVES

Fit the base shelf as shown in the picture below. For a double-sided gondola fit a base shelf to each side:

    Upright height No. of 400mm back panels No. of 500mm back panels1400mm 2 11600mm 0 31800mm 3 12100mm 0 42400mm 2 32700mm 4 2

Note: All slat panels are 100mm so you need the quantity which is equivalent to the upright height less 200mm - to account for the kick plate and top slat (i.e. for a 2700mm upright you need 25 slat panels + 1 top slat + 1 kick plate.)

    UPPER SHELVES

To fit shelves, locate the bracket in the slots first and then place the shelf on top as shown in the picture. If ticket strip has been ordered this can be clipped to the front edge of the shelves.

    TOP COVERS & COLUMN BUNGS

Top covers fit over the top of a double-sided gondola as shown in the picture. The column bungs fit into the tops of the uprights. Note that these items are not required on wall bays and only one pair of column bungs are required per run of bays.

    RISERS & DIVIDERS

If ordered the risers and dividers attach easily onto the shelves. Fit the riser into the grove on the front of the shelf and the dividers clip in-between.

    CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

Do not use abrasive cleaning materials as these may scratch the surface.

No chemical-based cleaning solutions should be used.

Check the equipment regularly to ensure all parts are located securely.

Do not overload shelves; please refer to the weight-loading section in this guide (pages 9-10.)

Always use the smallest shelf size at the top and the largest at the bottom; please refer to the weight-loading section in this guide (pages 9-10.)

    WEIGHT LOADINGS

How to calculate recommended weight loadings:

    1. The overall weight loading of a bay depends upon the upright height, size and depth of the overshelves.

    2. An overshelf must never exceed the depth of the base shelf and must always be arranged with the shelf depth increasing from the top to bottom.

    3. Take the average size of the overshelves and use this as the guide for the maximum weight loadings on table 1. This gives the maximum weight loading for a single-sided wall bay or gondola, excluding the base shelf loading.

    4. Take each individual shelf size on table 2 to give you the maximum weight loadings per individual shelf size for that bay.

    * Stated Loads are calculated for maximum recommended loading height of 2210mm and 1610mm high shelving bays. Weight loads or intermediate bay heights can be calculated by interpolating these values. Maximum weight loadings are shown for single-sided wall bays or gondolas excluding the base shelf. Shelf depth increase from top to bottom. For special configurations of height and depths consult Railston. N.A = Not Advisable

    * The specified loads are developed in accordance with European Standard FEM 10.2.02 and RAL - RG614. Shelving bays must be merchandised with weight loads decreasing upwards. The specified loads presume even distribution of weight over the shelf surface. Regarding special loading requirements, please consult Railston. Drawings and illustrations are without commitment.
