Our days run from 9am until 3 pm. Each day, we have four blocks of creative activity, a long, leisurely lunch break with outdoor activities and games and a terrific end of the week art show for our campers and their families. Some weeks feature visiting artists, field trips, and lunch at the Eastern Prom park. SESSION 1 June 18-22Studio Sampler Our Studio Sampler Camp is the way to start the sum- mer off right. This camp will give you a chance to try out several different mediums to see what you like. We will be working in metal, glass, clay and Raku. Don’t miss this opportunity to see what exciting camps we have to offer the rest of the summer and throughout the year. SESSION 2June 25-29•Pottery Wheel Campers explore what it’s like to be a potter and focus on learning to use the potter’s wheel to throw and trim pots. Campers will make bowls, cups, and plates as they learn the basic techniques of pottery. They will also learn how to decorate and glaze their pots. SESSION 3June 25-29•Glass Fusing In this one-week intensive session students will have the op- portunity to create one of a kind glass creations. they will work with stained glass and learn to assemble and melt glass together to create sculptures, pendants, and glass beads. You’ll be amazed by these beautifull pieces ! (Ages 8-14) SESSION 4July 9-20Focus on Clay (2 weeks) This special 2-week session allows us more time to work on the potter’s wheel and develop our wheel throwing skills. Throwing, trimming, glazing, embellishing and firing will be covered. We will even “Raku Fire”! Other activities will include sculpting, coiling, and handbuilding. Throughout the 2-weeks, campers will meet several visiting potters. These artists will demonstrate their techniques and talk about their work. This is a great session for those looking for an intensive clay experience! SESSION 1-TJuly 9-13Metals and Glass In these one-week intensive sessions, we will work in copper, nickel, silver, beads, clay and glass, to create beautiful pieces of jewelry and sculpture. Students will learn the ways of the metalsmithing studio, including hot and cold soldering techniques, polishing, wire wrapping and more. Glass will be introduced for embellishment of metal projects, or in addition to our metals curriculum. SESSION 2-T • Aug 6-10•Sculpture Join us for this adventure into the world of sculpture. We will use clay to create a menagerie of creatures both real and abstract. We will also be making things like animal masks, jewelry and free-standing sculptures. SESSION 3-T • Aug 13-17•Pottery Wheel This special class for teens has been created in response to the rising interest in teen art classes. This will be a valuable opportunity for our older students to have a week to focus on the potter’s wheels and explore the possibilities of clay. This camp will include some more complex techniques involving throwing and glazing. The students will explore what it’s like to be a potter and focus on learning to use the potter’s wheel to throw and trim pots. The students will make bowls, cups, plates and more. The teens will have the chance to be involve in a Raku firing, which is a Japanese technique that involves pulling the pots out while they are still glowing red and tossing them into piles of sawdust! When the pots are cool, students will clean the pieces revealing unique raku glazes. We will also discuss building art portfolios for those interested in art school. When the pots are cool, students will clean the pieces revealing unique raku glazes. SESSION 10 Aug 6-10Pottery and Surface This week is going to be a blast! We will be taking this opportunity to learn some basic surface design techniques on the clay forms, such as sgraffito, majolica, inlay, sliptrailing and stamping. SESSION 11 Aug 13-17Metalsmithing In these one-week intensive sessions, we will work in copper, nickel, silver, beads, clay and glass, to create beautiful pieces of jewelry and sculpture. Campers will learn the ways of the metalsmithing studio, including hot and cold soldering techniques, polishing, wire wrapping and more! Session Descriptions:Summer at Portland Pottery is fun both inside and outside our studios! Our days run from 9am until 3 pm. Each day, we have four blocks of creative activity, a long, leisurely lunch break with outdoor activities and games and a terrific end of the week art show for our campers and their families. Some weeks feature visiting artists, field trips, and lunch at the Eastern Prom park.

SESSION 1 • June 18-22•Studio SamplerOur Studio Sampler Camp is the way to start the sum-mer off right. This camp will give you a chance to try out several different mediums to see what you like. We will be working in metal, glass, clay and Raku. Don’t miss this opportunity to see what exciting camps we have to offer the rest of the summer and throughout the year.

SESSION 2•June 25-29•Pottery WheelCampers explore what it’s like to be a potter and focus on learning to use the potter’s wheel to throw and trim pots.
