Julian Hill was one of the scientists at Du Pont Company that discovered by pulling a heated rod from a mixture of coal tar, water and alcohol he could create a filament that was strong, sheer, and silk-like in appearance. He patented the creation in 1937 and tribute his work to his late boss.
Nylon gave strength in elasticity and comfort in silk like appearance.
No Ordinary Sock
People wear the plain basic colors of white and black socks, fun bright and colorful socks, toe
split socks, stylish argyle socks, Catholic purple socks for the Bishops, and white socks for the Pope. Poor or rich, anyone can appreciate the
usefulness of the sock.
