Cold Shock

• You will likely gasp for air, then breath rapidly. Can only hold breath for seconds – protect your airway from waves and spray.

• Your heart will be working harder, so don’t try to swim, just relax!

• The effects will be at its worst in the first 30 seconds but will have gone within 3 minutes.


SRC Course changes from January 2014

• Course duration (likely) to be 10 hours• Independent examiner conducts the exam

i.e. not the same person that instructed• Online alternative to classroom course

Photo ID certificates and online registration

Why, when and how?


Why

• A central, auditable record of people who hold certificates that could be used for commercial qualifications or ICCs.

• A more professional, attractive certificate for your students.

• Better tracking to enable lost certificates to be re-issued.


When

• From 31 March 2013 no more paper certificates may be issued.

• Old stock must be securely destroyed or returned to the RYA.

• From 1 April 2013, only photo ID certificates may be issued and must be registered online.


How

• Reference number and activation code available from RYA Training

• Set yourself a unique email address and password
