    1. ScopePrefabricated shelters covered by this specification are designed for specified

design conditions and for easy assembly and erection at site. They can be used toprovide office and residential accommodation at difficult locations or as a temporarymeasure even in plains. Toilet Blocks have also been included to supplement the mainshelters. The shelters have two options of design wall thickness i.e.80/60mm panelsfor walls with false ceiling & partition wall shall be 40mm thick panel.

The design parameters for the two options have specified. Though the designscovered by the drawings have been checked for structural stability at designconditions, the tenderers shall be responsible for suitability of the shelters offeredfor the design conditions. For this purpose, they may get the designsVerified/modified on their own and also strengthen of the structure as consideredacceptable if necessary.

Details of such modifications shall be clearly brought out in the offer.

The structures comprise of light weight wall panels with polyurethane foam (PUF)insulation encased between pre-painted galvanized steel sheets. The panels areassembled on a steel structure comprising of steel footing, columns, truss, floorpanels, false ceiling and pre-painted galvanized steel sheet roof.

The electrical wiring & fittings as well as plumbing and sanitary fittings havebeen included in the scope of supply. Erection of the shelters at site has been keptoptional as some of the indentors may like the same to be organized through their ownresources.

(NOTE:-Glazing in Verandah is an Standard fittment for 60/80 mm design Shelter.)

Reference to Indian Standards wherever made in the specifications or tenderschedule will be deemed to be to the latest version of the Standards.

DDOs may while ordering twenty or more shelters, ask for a pilot sample of theprefabricated structure to be assembled at manufacturer premises against the order tobe jointly inspected by the representative of the DDO & inspection authority beforecommencing manufacture of bulk supply.

The steel sections shallconform to IS: 4923:1997(Reaffirmed 2003)with Amdt. No 1 to 4 for Structural SteelSections.Corrugated sheet for roofing can however be outsourced.

Following drawings are part of this specification and shall be complied with forlayout, wall dimensions and manufacturing details as applicable. Drawings giveperspective view of the roof with arrangement of purlins and columns for a typicalshelter, layout shelter-wise, floor structure, steel footings, roof, doors, windows, ventilators, base frame, floor panels etc separately for 80mm and 60mm design.

Constructional details of the main structural members are also given. Allstructural members shall be welded together unless otherwise specified in thedrawings. Following drawings are part of this specification and shall be complied withfor layout, dimensions and construction details.

Pre-painted galvanized steel (PPGI) sheet: The pre-painted galvanized steel (PPGI)sheet shall be 0.5mm thick(TMT) ribbed type for all panels, joint angles, tracks andflashings except on roof. For roof and flashing on roof, PPGI sheets used shall be 0.6(TMT) mm thick with trapezoidal corrugation. Exact design of ribbing and trapezoidalcorrugation shall be manufacturer,s own. Both the sheets shall conform toIS:14246:1995. The sheets will have minimum 120gsm of zinc coating on both sidesfollowed by a top coat of PVDE/ silicon modified polyester having a thickness of 20micron minimum and with back coat of alkaloid epoxy or polyester having thickness of 7micron minimum. The top finished surface of PPGI sheet shall also have guard

film/protection sheet(polyethylene)for protection against scratches during handlingand transportation. The durability of paint coat shall correspondent to Class-1 asper Table-1 of IS:14246:1995.

DDO shall specify while ordering the colour of PPGI sheets to be used for theroof, wall panels and false ceiling which may be grey, blue, olive green or (dependingon availability) any other shade. The colour of paint to be used for painting thestructures shall also be specified.

Panel Manufacturing process: The PUF insulated panels will be manufactured usinghigh pressure dispensing machine of required capacity to inject specified amount ofPUF chemical mixture into the cavity of full panel in one shot in case of wall androof panel and in three shots in case of floor panel in a duration not exceeding 25sec. This is to ensure that the liquid PUF mixture is injected into the cavity beforethe foaming reaction starts so that the insulation core of panel is formed in one

piece & provides desired structural and physical properties. The PUF insulation shallhave bulk density of 40kg/cum and shall conform to PUR 1 Grade of IS:12436/1988(reaffirmed 2006). The dispensing machine should be equipped with a PLCcontrolled panel for monitoring and controlling the injection rate to ensure specifieduniform density requirements. The iso-cyanide and polyol liquid components used for in-situ process of providing polyurethane foam insulation in the panels shall besupported by manufacturer test certificates correlating & indicating batch numbers, date of manufacture and expiry dates. For injecting the PUF chemical mixture into the panel as above, the panel shall beassembled with all the components in a hydraulic press between heated aluminiumplatens so as to attain the desired finish, bonding and structural properties. Allpanels shall be manufactured in single piece as per approved panel layout drawingsusing the above materials and manufacturing process. Plywood: The plywood for thefloor panels shall be ISI marked synthetic resin bonded grade BWR type AA, 19 mm thick
