INTEGRATED SOLUTIONS FOR YOUR WAREHOUSE

EASILY-SCALABLE TO MEET THE SPECIFICS OF ANY BUSINESS. WITHOUT PROGRAMMING.

THE SOLVO.WMS ALLOWS DEEP PARAMETRIZATION AND UNPRECEDENTED SCALABILITY. ONE CAN EASILY CONFIGURE THE SYSTEM BY CHANGING THE PARAMETERS IN THE SYSTEMS, OPTIMIZING RULES AND STRATEGIES FOR RECEIVING, PUTAWAY, ORDER PLANNING AND PICKING.

07

The system includes control over a full range of warehouse processes — from preparing for delivery of goods to dispatch as per clients' orders. Depending on the client's requirements, the level of system integration can range from basic (management system, based around paper documentation and tasks) to a full-scale real-time warehouse management system, incor-porating barcode technology, wireless devices, data transfers, warehouse machinery positioning systems and other automation tools. When necessary, addi-tional modules can be incorpo-rated, which enable the system’s functionality to be significantly expanded. The system eliminates the need for routine paperwork. All management information is communicated via the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and automatically translated by

Solvo.WMS into a sequenced set of work tasks for warehouse staff. These tasks are then displayed on a wireless terminal screen.

Data pertaining to quantity and location of goods at the ware-house is always accurate and up to date, and any deviations can be identified immediately.

The system optimizes goods stor-age, utilizing warehouse space in the most effective way.

During the work cycle the ware-house goods inventory is con-stantly recalculated meaning that any operational delays due to stocktaking are reduced or even eliminated completely.

SOLVO.WMS WAS INTEGRATED WITH SSI Schaffer, MANAGING HORIZONTAL ROTARY RACKS, CONVEYORS AND SORTING LINES.

Use of Solvo.WMS to control the ACTIW system enables: location of pallets; offloading of pallets accord-ing to orders; release of specified pallets; selective blocking of pallets; status updates on warehouse inven-tory (information about cargo located in the warehouse).

A truly unique use of technology! A pharmaceutical warehouse was equipped with modern SSI Schäfer equipment: horizontal rotary racks, conveyors and sorting lines. Solvo. WMS was integrated with Convey (Schäfer SSI) software, which is used to manage this equipment.

Solvo.WMS was integrated with the com-pany’s main system, developed by IT special-ists Mikoyan, and with various specialized systems including: ATTEC/ITEC’s automated warehouse system and conveyor equip-ment and Bizerba’s labelling and weighing systems, which were supplied by Schäfer. This system manages the entire production process, from weighing of raw materials on delivery to the warehouse, to the dispatch of end products to the client.

Project to equip the warehouse with cutting-edge machinery: BT radioshuttles are used in the new deep storage unit; these are powered pallet conveyors, which trans-fer pallets through accumulator tunnels, 10 pallets deep, deploying a compact storage system. Solvo.WMS was updated to reflect modifications to the warehouse’s operations to accommodate the installation of modern automated equipment.

SOLVO’S INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC SOLUTIONS

PRODUCTION WAREHOUSES

SOLVO HAS CREATED INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC SOLUTIONS, TAILORED TO ADDRESS THE PARTI-CULAR REQUIREMENTS OF INDIVIDUAL INDUSTRIES:

1

2345

6

1 “Production warehouses are character-ized by intensive freight turnover and 24/7 operations 365 days a year. Every production line supplies pallets to the warehouse 1–2 times per minute, i.e. even an average-sized warehouse with 4–5 productions lines receives a pallet every 10–15 seconds! The same applies to the dispatch of goods. The highly intensive operation mode demands a warehouse management system configured for extra fault tolerance and streamlined opera-tions. Moreover, the system is integrated with label printers (handling SSCC labels) and an ERP system, which provides online tracking of every pallet, arriving at the warehouse. Layout rules enable goods to be sorted alphabetically or by any other criteria. Automatic batch blocking prevents dispatch of new products before they have been laboratory tested. A logical warehousing mechanism enables track-ing and management of various product processing methods for a single product with multiple designations (promotional, export, network-based, etc.). In addition to dispatch based on the FEFO principle, dispatch can also be configured so that deliveries of the freshest product is ear-marked for VIP clients and those clients located in remote regions.”

— Vladimir Nikitin, Head of Sales, Solvo

— Andrey Verenich, IT manager, Krup-skaya Confectionery Factory

— Evgeniy Polomoshnov, head of warehouse management, Carlsberg Breweries ("We opted for software created by a Russian company”, Warehouse Technologies, Issue 6, 2008).

“The following key functions had to be incorporated into the management system: accurate tracking of the manufacturer’s product expiry dates; a reduction in human errors on the part of the warehouse staff. We have a large range of products at our warehouse – over 1,000 SKU from the Krupskaya Confection-ery Factory, Azart, Pekar and the SladKo Confectionery Factory. To ensure that the warehouse is an effective link in the supply chain between the manufacturer and distributors, we needed a quick system for accommodating and locating goods, and one that guaranteed maximum accuracy during order fulfilment. Solvo.WMS successfully addressed these challenges. Use of optimi-zation algorithms, a barcoding system and wireless terminals significantly reduced our costs and speeded up the processes at our warehouse.”

“... It was necessary to harmo-nize processes and technologies across all of Baltika Breweries’ warehouses. This could only be achieved by means of a powerful, integrated warehouse management system. Our primary criteria for choosing the right software were quality and reliability. We decided to use software developed by a Russian company. This software offers great value for money, and the manufacturer provides all the necessary support and after-sales service. We are extremely satisfied with the system being used at our warehouses...”

UNIVERSAL, EASY TO CONFIG-URE AND SCALABLE SYSTEM

— Olga Alexandrova, commercial director, Sherland

"One of the primary challenges facing commercial warehouses is the degree of uncertainty surrounding potential clients and their service requirements. To satisfy any potential requirements, the system has to be universal, i.e. it has to encompass all warehouse operations; and be easily con-figurable, so that there are minimal delays in providing services to new clients. Solvo.WMS has an important special function called ‘Additional Operations’, which lets the operator create new operations, and provides on-the-fly integration of these operations into existing processes. This function also allows reporting of opera-tions using various units of measurement which allows for subsequent tarification of these operations. Solvo understands the importance of accurate reporting and cost accounting. Therefore, we have developed a universal contract and billing module, which takes into account the requirements of both the warehouse owner and the clients. The system also allows commercial warehouse clients to track their order sta-tus requests online via the Web module.”

“Solvo.WMS enables a range of functions: processing goods from several owners; intra-depot and lateral transfers; operation billing and tracking; intransit orders; certifi-cates; assembly management; packing and consolidation; layout optimization; batch processing and order dispatch. The record registration system enables uploading and downloading information about the status of cargo arriving at, located in or dis-patched from the warehouse. The system interface enables goods to be located using a graphic layout plan or searched for using a keyword or parameter search. This system enables Sherland warehouse complex to provide its clients with accu-rate information about the location of any goods orders at any given time.”

“In the past, we have worked with various distribution warehouses including those spe-cialising in food products, office products, household goods, auto parts and footwear. Each of these product types has its own particular warehousing requirements. Delivery and sorting of goods needed to take into consideration shelf life, batch management, removal and recording of serial numbers, reception of the ASN for intra-depot trans-fers, and processing of returns. Allocation of goods had take into consideration the weight and size of the goods, velocity, grouping by type, storage conditions, use of various storage methods (narrow and wide racks, shelf storage, flow racks, accumula-tors, stacked units, etc.). If a large volume of small goods needed to be sorted, they were allocated a separate zone for individual sort-ing, which was supplemented using space in the main storage zone if required. Some of our warehouses use conveyor lines for transporting small items from the storage zones. These conveyor lines are also inte-grated into the system. Sorting of goods can be carried out on an order-by-order basis or in regular waves. Sorting of goods can take into consideration various characteristics such as shelf life, batches, serial numbers, condition of goods etc. Consolidated orders are subject to automated controls (barcode control, weight control etc.).”

“Solvo.WMS offers the benefit of complete functionality, a range of powerful strategies used to determine goods allocation and scheduling processes, in addition to reliability and high productivity. The system enables a high degree of control over movements of goods and warehouse operations.A number of routine operations, in-cluding restocking of sorting chan-nels are initiated by means of a group command, which significantly reduces the man hours required to complete the operations.More effective management of sorting channel restocking. Flex-ible system configuration rules which, together with wide-ranging functional capabilities, facilitate the order packaging process.A powerful user report generating tool which enables any data to be exported from the database and all of the necessary analytical or statistical reports to be generated. A user-friendly interface provides easy access to these reports.”

“The system has allowed us to increase the efficiency of our warehouse personnel manage-ment. We now receive accurate information about the volume and quality of work completed by every member of staff, based on the time norms for the comple-tion of each task. The system allows us to establish a pay scale based on the volume of work completed. This has allowed us to switch to performance-based rates of pay, which has significantly increased personnel productivity. We have also qualitatively im-proved the level of our client service, chiefly due to the fact that all orders are being fulfilled accurately and all of the required documentation is being processed on time.”

“Pharmaceutical warehouses always use cutting-edge technology and employ highly-automated processes. In these warehouses, the Solvo system is not just used to manage the personnel; it is also integrated with the conveyors, horizon-tal rotary racks and automatic sorting systems. An additional feature of this system is the batch control of goods at every stage of the process. Dynamic unit sorting channels enable automatic control over inventory in the sorting zones, taking into account the required goods types. Processing of certificates and other licens-ing documents, taking into account the processing rules, allows sorting of batches with a full set of documentation to enable dispatch of the goods to the client.”

“Utilization of this system has made our warehouse process more flexible and transparent, which has allowed us to take a fresh approach to other aspects of our company’s operations. For example, we re-organized the work of some departments by initiating collaboration between the procurement and supply sections, sales and order processing departments, and we also reorganised our dispatch proce-dures. Warehouse operations moved from double to single shift, which has signifi-cantly reduced operational costs. Dispatch zone tasks have been restructured. Every delivery route is now linked to the sorting conveyor line; the orders are then grouped downstream according to delivery location, with each then progressing on to the cor-rect client. This has greatly simplified the dispatch process. This management system has significantly reduced the time needed to train new personnel, as all information relating to nomenclature, characteristics and goods storage areas is stored in the database.”

“Specialized warehouses (for example, auto parts warehouse) make use of their own particular technology, from the begin-ning of the warehousing process when the goods are received to the final dispatch of the goods to clients. When the goods are received at the ware-house, they need to be correctly identified. The product catalogue contains not just the product information, but a visual iden-tifier, which can be displayed on a wireless terminal. Product certificates for goods with serial numbers are stored and man-aged separately. Often when goods arrive at the warehouse, they need to be repack-aged, labelled or consolidated into sets.Goods at such warehouses vary in size, from small to oversized items. The alloca-tion of items into storage zones takes all of these factors into consideration, and the goods are allocated by storage types; outdoor storage, cantilever racks, drive-in and drive-through racks, pallet storage, multilevel modules, automated small-cell lift, horizontal rotary racks, and stacked storage systems. Warehouses of this type usually process a significant number of orders which are low in volume, but with a large number of different identification codes (up to 800 codes). Another require-ment is high operational efficiency in order fulfilment, which necessitates setting up of special order processing rules by several personnel in different parts of the ware-house, using various pieces of warehouse equipment.”

“Implementation of Solvo.WMS at our central warehouse allowed us to control warehouse operations in real time, to manage and priori-tise the sorting and allocation of goods. We analysed implementation efficiency and system operation according to key efficiency indicators, both prior to the implementation of the system and afterwards:Number of client complaints in comparison to total number of offloaded items:- prior to implementation - 1.1%- post-implementation - 0.44%- overall productivity per person increased by 60%- consignment delivery time reduced by 75%- total cost of warehouse maintenance cut by 25%Flexible, easily configurable system rules enable effective control over allocation of goods in storage cells by packaging type, de-mand category and other criteria. Movement of goods can be optimized during sorting, which decreases the time needed to complete an order, and enables optimization of order plans according to various requirements (e.g. distance from the exit, distance to the floor, selection based on quantity, use of FIFO/LIFO/FEFO methods).”

“In 2009 Solvo launched a new solution for cargo terminal automation. The first customer to incorporate this solution was the Zheldorexpeditsiya Group, which specializes in the transportation of goods throughout Russia by rail and road. Solvo.WMS automates all order process-es from delivery to dispatch at their new transfer complex in Novosibirsk. Unlike a regular warehouse complex, a freight terminal does not need product control, and orders can vary greatly in volume and weight. The system closely tracks in-coming orders, which arrive without prior warning. Delivery reception takes into consideration a large number of freight characteristics (size, fragility, necessity for transportation at room temperature etc.) which will influence subsequent handling. The system controls allocation

processes, including the conveyor lines. It automates and takes account of addi-tional operations including crate packing, weight control and packaging of orders into sacks. The management system also handles scheduling of rail carriage alloca-tion, registration of shunting, scheduling and control of loading and unloading of rail wagons and trucks.

Certified Solvo service centre specialists and authorized partner companies are always ready to assist both our own clients and companies who have obtained equipment through third parties. Our service centre can carry out repairs on a one-off payment basis at the time of repair, or via various long-term service contract options.

Able to call on many years of experience in the logistics market, Solvo can offer turn-key projects which ensure that project imple-mentation time and cost to the client are minimized, and the level of risk is reduced.

Implementing turn-key proj-ects involves a full spectrum of services, starting from delivery of software and a complete set of server and specialized equipment, to installation and integration with the warehouse management system during project implemen-tation.

Solvo's broad spectrum of partnerships enable it to imple-ment projects of any complex-ity, and to ensure the fulfilment of a wide spectrum of tasks. Our partners include hardware and software vendors, systems integrators, financial and business information systems vendors, and warehouse and wireless equip-ment vendors.

Our partners enable Solvo to build closer relationships with its clients, regardless of where they are located. We work with ICS-Market, a leading vendor of hi-tech trading equipment and a systems integrator for the Ukrainian market; AXIS Consulting, one of the lead-ing consulting companies in Kazakhstan; ASTRON, one of the largest systems integrators in the field of automated iden-tification technology in Belarus; and fellow Belarusian company, Apply Logistic, which specializes in logistics solutions.
