Raising of the Participation Age

• Children’s Act 2008 – raises participation in education or training until end of the academic year in which a young person turn 17 (2013), and then 18th birthday (2015)

• Duty on the young person• LA duty for sufficiency of provision, post

16, promotion of participation, tracking • Schools’ duty for careers information

advice and guidance (year 8 to Year 13 from Sept 2013); tracking progression

• Full time education (540 glh) in school sixth form or college; home education

• Work based learning such as an Apprenticeship

• Part-time learning (280 glh) if employed, self employed or volunteering for more than 20 hours per week
