The Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) was passed in 2005. It provides for enhancement of livelihood security by giving at least 100 days of guaranteed wage employment in every financial year to every household, whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.

Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act

➢ Payment of wages through Bank and Post Office

Accounts.

➢ Funding pattern – 90% by GOI and 10% by State Govt.

➢ Wage rate for the year 2016-17 for AP- Rs.194/-.

➢ Wages on the basis of quantity of work.

➢ 60:40 wage and material ratio.

➢ Equal wages for men and women.

➢ Authority- Approval of Gram Panchayat, Mandal

Parishad and Zilla Parishad for work.

➢ Budget Allocation- Gram Panchayat (75%),

Mandal Parishad(15%) and Zilla Parishad (10%).
