Rural Developmen t Grassroutes journeys are responsible holidays in Indias villages where-in the local village communities welcome you to partake in their life. True essence of India; the richness of culture, abundance of nature, still preserved & practiced ancient traditions & knowledge systems and colorful & diverse lifestyles but most of all her welcoming & loving people. This is one of the first villages adopted by Grassroutes, where the local self- development initiative was encouraged. Like most villages across India, this one too has its legends, its very own people and several unique OFFERINGS for those who come from the other urban world. Located in Akole block of District, Ahmednagar Village Purushwadi is situated 220 km from both Mumbai & Pune en route to Nasik. This tribal village is inhabited by the „Hindu Mahadeo Kolitribe. Renowned for as rice cultivators and as skilled animal herdsmen; these villagers are warm, simple & full of wonder. At 1000 m above sea level in the Western Ghats, between river Kurkundi and river Mula, the local folklore connects the village to the legend of goddess zakobhai, to whom one of Purushwadis temples is dedicated. It is believed that the goddess lifted up five Hanuman statues from different villages in the region and threw them in the nearby Mula river, a feat she repeats every year when the statues are put upright. The local communities are  predominantly tribal and concen trate on cultiv ation and animal husbandry for their livelihoods. Among the different tribes of the region are bails, kolis mahadeos, thakars, koli dhors, takare kolis, paradhis, kokanas, warlis, kathodis and katkaris. This is a new concept which is been brained stormed over many nights of finding not only to promote tourism in the country, but also to give some back to the locals of the land. Not only sustain for themselves but also for the whole community and as one. This concept was made keeping the welfare of the Tribals. They didnt  buy the land like other multinatio nal company would; th ey took the land on lease from the village Sarpanch. Also this place will not be commercialized as the  beauty of the wh ole experience wil l not be the same. So to sustain the US P of the  place, it shouldnt be taken advantage of it. They also provide the t ourist, who from the hustle and bustle of the city would find the activities at the village relaxing and calm and something which one can never imagine to happen in the city.
