RunWalk for Life 5k Details

Date: Saturday, September 17, 2016

Registration Begins: 7:30 am at the Ionia Theater

Start Time/Location: 9:00 am at Corner of Main and Steele, Ionia

Purpose: To raise money and awareness for PSIC

Positive Solutions • Informed Choices

Information: An exciting morning is planned which includes the RunWalk 5k,

food, fun, and prizes. Put your convictions into action. Sign-In begins at 7:30 am at the Ionia Theater and the RunWalk begins at 9 am. Pre-register online at

www.psicionia.org/events or in person at the center.

Cost: $25 for Runners (fee waived if you collect sponsors). Walkers collect

sponsors. Please pre-register by September 12. All pre-registered participants

will be offered a t-shirt.

About PSIC PSIC is a Christ-centered ministry that seeks to

affirm the sanctity of Human life by treasuring the

life of the child in the womb and the life of the

Liaison Ideas…

Seek permission from church or business leaders to promote the event.

Set up an attractive display. We can help with brochures, and promotional materials. Make sure someone is at the

table before and after services to answer questions.

Ask youth in your church to do a short skit promoting the RunWalk.

Accept a PSIC Challenge: “The church or business who has the most people represented will receive a small prize, as

well as the honor of being announced the WINNER!”

Be committed to walking or running yourself!

Make sure you tell individuals that if they cannot walk that day, they can do a “make up walk” another day,

another time of their own. Some are even making this into a RunWalkRock by bringing their own rocking chair!

Share the importance of taking a visible stand in our community and for financial support of the center.

Remind individuals that everyone who participates will receive a free t-shirt.

RunWalk for Life 2016 Suggestions for Success…

Begin Immediately!

* Let your church, friends, and family know about your participating in the RunWalk for Life and ask for sponsors.

* Ask your church secretary or employer to place one “bulletin blurb” in your church or business newsletter.

2nd Week

* Set up a display table in your church or business. Leave the table set as long as your church or business allows.

* Have pledge packets available for individuals to begin collecting pledges. Form a team from your church or business.

3rd Week

* Talk about the RunWalk for Life in your church Sunday School classes or business departments.

* Use bulletin inserts (inserts are available digitally so your church can print them, or contact us and PSIC will print

them for your church).

* Run another bulletin blurb encouraging individuals to pick up a pledge packet or sponsor another walker.

4th Week

* Have the pastor or employer announce the event or see if you can present the RunWalk yourself to the congregation.

* Run another bulletin blurb encouraging individuals to pick up a pledge packet or sponsor another walker.

5th/6th Weeks

* Run another bulletin or newsletter blurb encouraging individuals to pick up a pledge packet or sponsor another walker.

* Encourage your church or business to come to the RunWalk event to support the walkers on Saturday, September 17.

* Spend time calling the walkers that have committed to coming and encouraging them to get any last minute pledges or

help answer any questions.
