Run-Shunga 2016We invite you to join us for Run-Shunga 2016,

Saturday June 18th in Council Grove. The 2015 event was a great success raising over $1,500 in dona ons to area schools. Proceeds will go to area school districts once again this year! USD 397 – Centre, USD 417 – Morris County, USD 435 – Abilene, USD 473 – Chapman, and USD 481 – Rural Vista, will all benefi t from the event. Be sure to list the district you would like your registra on to benefi t when you sign up.

The run starts at 7:30am on June 18th. Pre-registered par cipants may pick up their packets on Friday, June 17th between 8am and 5pm at the TCT Solu ons Center, 923 W Main St in Council Grove, or between 6 – 7am at the Run-Shunga star ng point on race day, just next to TCT’s central offi ce on Main Street. The Dwight city-wide garage sales will be held on May 14. If you plan on having a garage sale, please let the city offi ce know and we will get your name and address on the list. There will not be a city-wide cleanup this spring.

The Morris County Historical Society and the Dunlap Church Museum will host a “bring and sell event” at the Dunlap church grounds on May 14 from 9am – 4pm. Spaces will be $5 per seller. Anyone is invited to bring items to sell. Space will be assigned when you arrive that morning. A few inside spaces will be available. Anything you want to sell is welcome: an ques, garage sale items, cra s, and/or food items.The Dunlap Church Museum group will have lunch and snack items for sale. Come and enjoy a fun day at Dunlap. USD #417 has given the Prairie Heights PTO permission to sell all of the items le in the Prairie Heights Elementary School building in Dwight. They include: daycare toys, cribs, cots, high chairs, rocking chairs, student desks and chairs, teacher’s desks and chairs, offi ce chairs, fi le cabinets, computer desks and carts, oak card catalog, refrigerators and other lunchroom/cafeteria items, folding chairs, World and US roll-down maps, coat racks, shelving, puzzles, games, books, educa onal items and much more! PTO plans to have a one-day “garage” type sale on Saturday, May 14. It will be open to the public. Proceeds from the sale will go to PHES PTO to support our students and teachers. The Dwight Community Annual Memorial Day Lunch will be held on Monday, May 30, at the Dwight United Methodist Fellowship Hall. The meal will be served from 11:30am – 1pm. Come enjoy fried chicken, assorted salads, rolls and homemade pies. A suggested dona on for the meal is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 10 years old. This lunch is sponsored by the Dwight Community Development Corpora on but could not happen without the whole community helping by making the salads and pies. Thank you in advance for your help and for a ending!

the ceremonial fi rst lap Saturday a ernoon, June 4, 2016 at the Relay For Life in Morris County. This lap is a highlight of American Cancer Society Relay For Life events across the country (479-5823).

If you are a cancer survivor, or know of a survivor who may like to par cipate in this year’s Relay For Life, please call Deneen Wilmore at 785-349-2683.

A survivor is anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer. Whether he or she has been ba ling the disease for 10 days or has been cancer-free for 10 years, all survivors are welcome and are encouraged to par cipate.
