Fortunately, you can create a registry shortcut that clearsthe Run command's MRU list. To

    follow these steps:

    1. Launch the Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).

    2. Go

    toHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\M45464564icrosoft\Windows\CurrentV

    \Explorer\RunMRU.

    3. Right-click the RunMRU key andselect Export.

    4. Name the REG file Clear Run MRU, click the Save button, and close the Regist

    Editor.

    5. Open the Clear Run MRU.regfile in Notepad.

    6. Add a minus sign to the beginning of the key name justinside the square bracke7. Delete all lines that follow the line containing the keypath.

    8. Save the file and closeNotepad.

    9. Reboot Windows (or at least log off and then log back on)in order for this chan

become effective. Now, any time you want to clearthe Run command's MRU li

simply locate and double-click the Clear Run MRU.reg file. When you do so, t

Registry Editor willdisplay two dialog boxes: one that prompts you to confirm

operation, andthe other to let you know the operation was successful.

Notes: Editing the registry is risky, so be sureyou have a verified backup before saving anychanges. This tip applies to both Windows XP Homeand Professional ed

Do you use the Run feature in Windows XP? For most, this feature remains unused (o

used). Why is that? Well, First off nearly all of the Run Commands Correspond tparticular Control Panel Item or a Utility, Tool or Task that can be accessed throug

Windows. There are, however, tools and utilities that I bet you never knew you h

can be accessed through the Run feature. The main reason most people don't use t

feature is because they don't know the Commands. So, to solve that problem, I dec

put together the following listing, which lists 99 Run Commands and what they

    correspond too...

birjukhunti .... yes, it definitely sounds as if you have been infected by something. There is

one exceptionally nasty piece of malware in the wild that can disable task manager

    You should do this .....

From the menu click on "Do a system scan and save a logfile".

DO NOT choose to upload the scan report to Trend Micro.

Start a new topic in this forum then copy and paste the HJT logfile to that thread. More

removal instructions will follow for any malware revealed.

Everyone ... please start your own new topic in the forum. Many users posting in the same

makes it unmanageable and means none of you will be fixed up.

postsbltassoc, you really need to let us know what the error numbers in the me

    are- those help immensely.

Instruction cannot be read errors can be caused by bad memory, faultybad drivers, hardware conflicts, crappy programming, and fluke luck (to

    a few causes.)

Also, you'd be surprised by the amount of bad memory in the world

Memtest86 is a great program to use to detect this, save it can occasiohave problems on AMD processors (I htink they've fixed that now.

Look forward to hearing back. btw, welcome to Techspot!

I've been getting the same type error.

The error reads (when I close IExplorer, for example): 'The instruction "0x01803195" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory cou

It reads a different instruction for different programs. I'm just beginningprogramming, but I can't see why any program would be referencing

memory address. It happens with a bunch of different programs, but notpossibly it's a bad kernel...? Some rogue instruction?

I'm going to try to re-install Windows and see if it helps any. I tried switmy memory slots, but no help. I may try a stick from my other compute

are a couple of different reasons why this error occurs

1.) outlook express: it can be caused when an e-mail doesn't have comheader information such as a from heading

2.) Internet Explorer 6.0: appearently it had a bug. it should have a winhotfix. It could be this period because windows uses IE for everything.

3.) bad memory: could be I'm going to check myself next, but doubt

Things it's not: SP2 I REFUSE to run windows XP. It's a piece of crap. Micgot greedy with it, it is badly coded, cannot alloticate memory, and finapain to use as a PC repair tech because of their STUPID copyright prote

scheme. (PS bug microsoft to not put that in longhorn) So I run WindowsI'm getting this error too. So this means that it's not localized to just XP,lessens the likelyhood of it being windows itself (although the kernels an

for XP are based off 2000). this means it's likely something (like InterExplorer) or some other common thread. Maybe we should be comparin

installed programs lists to see what's up?

    Any ideas?
