    Participation in the mountain race Tenerife Bluetrail 2012 is open to all runners with orwithout disabilities who are over 18 years at the time of the race. The conditions of this

    sporting event are especially hard: saves great slopes, runs for a long stretch over the 2,000

    m elevation, reaching the 2,512 m. and away from points reported, and therefore, to ensure

    your safety, you need to know and accept the standards found in these regulations and,

    therefore, you should read carefully before signing.

    RULES OF THE TENERIFE BLUETRAIL 2012

    1. ETHICS

    All the participants in the Tenerife Bluetrail share a set of values that make this race an

    outstanding event. These values are:

    Fairness in determining an applying the rules. Everyone must comply with the samerules. Respect for the people: Appropriate treatment to the rest of runners, the membersof the Organization and the local population. Solidarity: Everyone in danger or difficulty must be given assistance. Personal improvement: The will to increase the physical and mental strength of eachparticipant, as well as the development of personal autonomy. Environmental responsibility: Always strive to help environmental conservation andsocial equilibrium. Accessibilitiy: Promote the participation of people with reduced mobility or any formof sensory disability.

    2. ORGANIZATION

    This mountain run is a project promoted by the Tenerife Council, through its Environment ,

    Sports and Tourism Departments, with the collaboration of Roads and Landscape

    Department, and the Insular Office of Security and Emergency of the Island Council. It is also

    supported by the Government of the Canary Islands, the Army, through its Canary Islands

    Command, the Councils of Arona, Adeje, Granadilla, Vilaflor and La Orotava, State and

    Security Forces,the company Turismo de Tenerife and emergency volunteer groups.

    3. THE RACE

    Tenerife Bluetrail includes four mountain routes, more than 80% of them along Tenerifes

    new network of pathways, which are within the Natural Protected Areas of Natura 2000

    Network. Each run is made up of a single stage, with no specific speed required, but with a

    time limit. The details of each race are as follows:

    Ultratrail: 93,150 km in length, maximum altitude 2,512 m, minimum altitude 1,00m, accumulated ascent/descent 9,522 m and positive ascent/descent 5,140 m.

    Trail: 56,400 km in length, maximum altitude 2,512 m, minimum altitude 758 m,accumulated ascent/descent 5,708 m and positive ascent/descent 2,160 m. Mediatrail: 20 km in length, maximum altitude 1,581 m, minimum altitude 758 m,

    accumulated ascent/descent 2,760 m and positive ascent/descent 1,166 m.

    Adapted Trail: which runs along the Mami track, alongside La Caldera de Aguamansa.Accumulated ascent/descent 260 m and 4,2 km in length.

    All lengths and slopes have been calculated based on digital cartography. The estimates of

    the accumulated ascent/descent derives from the sum of slopes of 10 meters lengthsubsections.

    4. ENTRY TERMS AND CONDITIONS

    Tenerife Bluetrail is open to all runners, including those with disabilities, who are over

    the age of 18 on the date of the run, and who have registered correctly. Those wishing

    to take part must also:

    Know these rules and accept the terms and conditions set out in them. Duly comply with the registration procedure: fill in the form, pay the race fees andhand over a medical certificate and waiver of liability to the organization at the time

    of receiving their numbers (see Article 7: Registration). Be aware of the length, ascents and descents, technical difficulty and othercharacteristics of the race, and be perfectly capable of attempting it. Be aware that they must have with them all the material required during the run (seeart. 5: Material Required). Be aware that food and drinks may be replenished at the food and drink stations. Any waste must be placed in the containers provided for this purpose in the areasaround these stations.

    Be aware that people not in the Organization are not allowed to assist the runnersneither may accompany the runners for either the whole or part of the run. Know that it is prohibited the participation of any kind of animal as a companion tothe runner. Be aware that it is not allowed to use this sporting event as a platform for makingdemands or claims of any nature. Any kind of statements or demonstrations that are

    not included in the purpose of this run are therefore prohibited.

    The Organziation of Tenerife Bluetrail sets as obligatory that the participants who register

    for the Ultratrail must prove the participation in some mountain race of at least 42 km in

    the last 2 years.

    5. MATERIAL REQUIRED

    The characteristics intrinsic to this run, as well as the unpredictable weather conditions at

    the date of the run, require all runners to have with them some OBLIGATORY safety

    material, without which they will not be allowed to participate. If at any time during the run

    the Organization detects that a participant is not carrying all or part of this material, he or

    she will be disqualified and may not continue the run .

    The material will be checked at the starting line of each race, one hour befote it begins. The

    Organization may also carry out checks on the material at certain points during the race.

    To participate in the Tenerife Bluetrail, each runner must at all times be wearing appropriate

    clothing and footwear for mountain sports. He or she must also wear the electronic chip (on

    the shoe) and race number (on the stomach or chest). But in addition, each participant must

    take note of the following list of items that are obligatory or recommended, depending on

    the category:

    For the safety of the runners, a week before the race and according to the weatherforecasts, the Organization of Tenerife Bluetrail may modify the materials required. This

    change will be communicated to the participants that have agreed to receive news in their

    The categories in the Tenerife Bluetrail are as follows:

    7. REGISTRATION

    Registration for any of the different runs must be made until 24:00 h. of October 6, 2012.

    The following steps must be taken for registration:

    1. Read and sign the liability waiver in the Registration section on

    www.tenerifebluetrail.com . By doing so, you declare that you are participating

    voluntarily and assume all responsibility for your participation, and that you

    exonerate, waive and free from all civil liability the organizing body, collaborators,

    sponsors and other runners, an agree not to file any claim against them.2. Fill and send the registration form in the Registration section

    www.tenerifebluetrail.com . If you are a member of a federated club

    (mountaineering or athletics or a sporting federation for the disabled) or a a member

    or the State and Security Forces, please attach a document or photocopy accrediting

    this. If you have a phisical or sensory disability, you must semd a copy of the disability

    certificate. If it is not possible to attach a digital copy of these documents to

    [email protected], as it is required in the registration form, you must send

    a photocopy of them by ordinary post to IDECO, S.A. Tenerife Bluetrail, C/Mercedes,

    s/n, 38108- La Laguna, Tenerife.

    3. Pay the corresponding taxes by credit card as it is shown in the registration form.4. Submit an original official medical certificate to prove the capacity of the corridor to

    participate this type or races (only for participants of the Ultra and Trail). When your

    receive your numbers, give the Organization the medical certificate and the waiver. If

    you are a member of a federated club (mountaineering or athletics or a sporting

    federation for the disabled), or a member or the State and Security Forces, or anyphysical or sensory disability, you must also bring the original accreditations in case

    they are required.

    Once the registration period has started, a list of those entered will appear on the website

    www.tenerifebluetrail.com, which will be updated regularly. It will only give the names of

    those who have correctly completed the form and paid the fees corresponding to the type of

    race chosen.

    Once correctly entered, each runner has the right to the following services:

    Receive his/her number and chip (a deposit must be paid). Take part in the race. Transport to the starting lines of each race from points established by theOrganization. Transfer of the runners bag with personal tems to the arrival point.

    For those taking part in teh Ultratrail, transfer of the bag with special provisioning toan intermediate point along the run. Supply of food and drink during the run. Use of safety services. Medical insurance covering health care. Showers and masaje at the finish line area. Supply of food an drinks at the finish line. Obligatory civil liability insurance.

    Registration is personal and non-transferable and implies acceptance of thes rules.

    AUTHORIZATION OF DATA AND IMAGE

    Registration in any of the categories requires the express consent of the participant for the

    use of data and images obtained during race, in order to promote and disseminate

    information of the Tenerife Bluetrail.

    Your e-mail address is being incorporated into IDECO, S.A. database, whose purpose is to

    manage the commercial, economic, accountant, fiscal and administrative relationship with

    this company. In any case you can make your right of access, rectification, cancellation and

    opposition of the personal data contained in our files, in the terms established by Law15/1999 of 13th December, writing to IDECO, SA Ref. Data Protection C / Mercedes S / n,

    38108 La Laguna Los Majuelos. Any variation to occur in the data provided, must be

    communicated to IDECO, SA, so that they remain accurate and current, and respond

    truthfully to your current situation.

    8. REGISTRATION FEES

    The Law 4/2012 of June 25th of administrative and fiscal measures of the Canary

    Government, modified from 01 July 2012 the Indirect Canary Taxes (Igic). According to the

    law we have changed our rates.

    The payment of these registration fees will be done through the payment section in the

    websitewww.tenerifebluetrail.com.

    Once the fees have been paid, they will not be returned if the runner does not take part,

    except in the cases specified in Article 17.

    9. CHECKPOINTS

    The checkpoints are sites that are signposted along the route through which each runner

    must pass. They both check the passage of the runners and the time they take.

    Organization officials will give instructions at these checkpoints that must be followed by therunners.

    If any runner is not registered as passing through any of the checkpoints, it will be

    understood that he or she has not followed the route specified for the race. As a result,

    whatever the reason (evacuation, retirement, voluntary breach of the rules, etc), the runner

    in question will be disqualified from the race.

    The checkpoints planned for each race will be published inwww.tenerifebluetrail.com.

    The organization may establish additional controls along the route to better monitor andrecord of the race.

    10. SAFETY

    At points where the route crosses or runs along a road, the Organization will have officials

    and vehicles duly identified available who will guide the runners. As in all the important

    points of the run, at its passage through the roads, road traffic will be stopped temporarily.

    However, on the stretch along the TF-21 road, in the Teide Nature Reserve, road traffic will

    be stopped for 5 minutes to make the passing of the runners of the Trial category easier. In

    any case, runners must respect the traffic code and take all necessary precautions when theroute passes along streets or roads, or when they arrive to a crossroads.

    Throughout the route medical staff and ambulances will be on hand to intervene if

    necessary. These officials will be empowered to withdraw any runners number if they

    consider that his or her health is in danger.

    There will be authorized officials at the checkpoints who are capacitated to indicate the

    stops the runners should take in case of objective danger, change of route, accident or

    retirement.

    11. FEEDING STATIONS

    Feeding stations will be located along the route, where the runners will have drink and food

    available

    The feeding points and the kind of provisioning will be specified and detailed in time in

    www.tenerifebluetrail.com.

    The water will only be provided in the recipients carried by each runner for this purpose(bottle or bag). The waste generated must be deposited in the containers located for this

    purpose at each of these stations and within 50 metres from them. Breach of this rule will be

    lead to disqualification from the race.

    12. RACE NUMBERS

    Runners will be given their race numbers together with their kit bags. Participants can collect

    them at a time and place that will be specified well in advance inwww.tenerifebluetrail.com

    To collect the kit you must show your identity card or current passport to the Organisation.

    At the same time, they must hand in the medical certificate and liability waiver. It is not

    necessary to show the medical certicate for those runners participating in the Mediatrail and

    Adapted Trail. It is also recommended that participants bring a receipt for the payment of

    fees, and if appropriate, the certificate of disabiltiy and/or federation licence, in case they

    have to be shown to the Organization.

    This material may also be collected by another person, provided by an authorization duly

    completed and signed by the runner, along with the documentation specified.

    Each race number will be personalized with a different colour depending on the race. It willalso include contact telephone numbers for the Organization Centre and the emergency

    services.

    The number must not be cut, folded or changed. At the time it is handed over, the runner

    must write the relevant medical information (such as blood group or allergies to medicines)

    on the back of the number.

    During the race, the runner must at all times wear the number on his or her chest, stomach

    or front of the mesh, and it must always be clearly visible.

    13. CHIP

    The run will be conrolled by means o fan electronic chip. The chip will be given to all the

    runners after leaving the corresponding deposit, and they must wear it on the shoe

    throughout the whole run. The Organization will set up checkpoints to ensure that all the

    runners complete the run and register their interim times.

    Once in the finish area, the runner must immediately return the chip to the Organization,

    and the deposit will be paid back to the runner.

    14. TIME LIMITS

    Each run must be completed within a specific time limit. The time limits established for the

    different runs will be published inwww.tenerifebluetrail.com.

    These time limits are calculated so that the runners can complete the run within the time

    limits established. Runners who exceed the time limits will not be allowed to continue the

    race.

    15. BREACHES AND DISQUALIFICATION

    If these rules are not respected, the race Organization shall apply penalties consisting of:

    Warning in the case of minor breaches. Disqualification from the race if the breaches are serious.

    Two warnings shall be equivalent to a minor breach and the result in the disqualification ofthe runner.

    The braches and sanctions applicable in Tenerife Buetrail are set out in the following table:

    MINOR BREACHES

    Refusal to follow orders given

    by members of the raceOrganization.

    Voluntarily damaging the natural environment, i.e.:

    throwing waste or containers outside the bins

    provided for this purpose, damaging the flora andfauna, or any other voluntary action that involves

    an impact on the environment.

    Not helping a runner who is in

    dificulties.

    Not having all or part of the obligatory safety

    material.

    Not having the race number

    visible or wearing it anywhere

    other than, chest, stomach or

    front of the mesh.

    Not completing the route of the run for which they

    are entered on foot, or using the handbike in case

    of the Adapted Trail. This means, among others

    taking shortcuts, not going through any checkpoint

    or not crossing the finish line.

    Any other incident that the

    race officials consider a minor

    breach.

    Any other incident that the race officials consider a

    serious breach.

    16. RETIREMENT

    If a runner decides to retire from the race, he or she must indicate this to the race officials at

    the closest checkpoint. If this is not possible, he or she must comuncate it immediately by

    phone using the number printed on the race number. If a runner misses to notice this

    retirement to the Organization, he or she will not be allowed to participate in the next

    edition of Tenerife Bluetrail.

    Once the participant voluntarily retires from the race or is disqualified, he or she is assumed

    no longer to be part of the competition and becomes the sole person responsable for his or

    her actions.

    17. CANCELLATIONS

    The Organzation reserves the right to cancel the run if concur objective situations of risk ,

    such as weather alerts, forest fires or landslides, which could endanger the safety and

    integrity of the runners

    If the event is cancelled before it begins for some of the reasons previously exposed, the

    Organzation will try to celebrate it within 60 days.

    If the run is definitely cancelled, the fees paid will be returned to the participants.

    If the race has to be interrupted before it is concluded for objective reasons which could

    endanger the safety and integrity of the participants, the runners will be classified according

    to their order and time of arrival at the last checkpoint they passed through in the

    competition. Then the race will come to an end.

    18. MODIFICATION OF THE ROUTE

    The Organzation reserves the right to change the route or modify the timetable for reasons

    of safety or other reasons of force majeure.

    19. JURY

    The Jury of the Tenerife Bluetrail is responsable for dealing with any possible claims resulting

    from the running of the competition, as well as any other question not included in these

    rules. It will be made up of members of the general Management, technical Management

    and Judie coordination members of Tenerife Bluetrail.

    20. CLASSIFICATION AND TROPHYS

    This mountain competition will incluye a general classification for each type of race. There

    will also be an independent classification for each category and race. A trophy will be

    awarded to the first three runners in each type of race, whatever their category

    All runners who reach the finish line will recieve a Finisher t-shirt, according to their category

    in the race.

    The award ceremony forms part of the competition itself. Each participant must thereforebe present in order to receive his or her prize, except for those cases of force majeure duly

    justified. In that circumstance, it should pick it up in time and place determined by the

    Organization during the two weeks following the conclusion of the race.

    21. COLLECTION AND DELIVERY SERVICE OF BACKPACKS

    The Organization shall make available to the participants in the Ultratrail and Mediatrail a

    collection and delivery service of backpacks before the corresponding start. Each backpackwill be assigned the runners race number. In addition, for those taking part in the Ultratrail,

    there will be a service of transfer of the bag with special provisioning to an intermediate

    point along the run.

    The backpacks will be removed in the Ethnographic Park Pinolere with the presentation of

    the dorsal.

    22.- PHYSIOTHERAPY SERVICE

    The Organization will arrange a physiotherapy service when arriving to the Ethnographic

    Park Pinolere.

    23. CLAIMS

    Any claim will only be processed if, in the opinion of the Organization, it is justified and duly

    documented, and is submitted to the Organziation in writing with the following details:

    Name and ID of the person who presents the claim Names of the athletes affected Race number Facts alleged Signature

    To file a complaint, the runner should be directed to any of the arrival points, which will

    have a complaint forms available. This procedure is recommended during the course of the

    race and before the awards ceremony.

    24. LIABILITY

    Runners registered to race in the Tenerife Bluetrail participate under their full and sole

    responsibility.

    Each participant is the exclusively responsable for his or her physical and mental health and

    assumes the risks envolved in startig and enganging in this run.

    The Organization also accepts no liability for any harm that may come to those taking part

    during the run.

    In this sense, when registering, each participant must send a signed original liability waiver

    document, as clearly stated in this section of the rules.

    25. MODIFICATIONS

    These rules may be corrected, extended and improved at any time by the Organization. By

    registering the participant shows his or her conformity with these rules and with the changes

    that may be made to them.
