David McIntosh Tales From Across the Pond Where do you live?

I live in the finest city known to Mother Earth, Manchester, in the north west of England. Created by Ceaser himself, apparently his most acclaimed accomplishment is not in the history books or the Internet, just ermmm take my word for it.

If you were a comic book character or any cartoon character, which one would it be?

Hmm...now I’m thinking Homer Simpson. Now I know your thinking, what..!? but hear me out guys. Ever since a youth I’ve fancied Marge, ohhh how heavenly she is! So I figure what better way to get close to this yellow skinned goddess then be the Hunk Homer himself. P.S. is this a trick or can you guys really make this possible because I'm not gonna lie, I’m kinda excited.

If you could sit down for a beer with anyone in the world, living or dead, who would it be?

Christopher Columbus straight up! People think he’s famous for discovering America, but he’s really famous for inventing beer. It’s true, I seen his face and ship on a brewery company once and also read it in many fictional books. So I’m guessing I wouldn’t be having this beer if it wasn’t for you. Chris cheers!

You were chosen to model for RUFSKIN this year and how would you describe your experience while shooting for them?

In all honesty it was possibly, no definitely, the most fun shoot I've done! Outfits were banging, pictures were taken quick with no messing about, the sun was shinning, and after we was done creating magic, I was treated to some fabulous food, naughty little cocktails whilst chilling to some sexy house music. RUFSKIN you rock! May we discuss your involvement in the British Army, and if so, can you offer us your position with them? (if fighting pirates comes up...can you explain to us what goes through your mind when confronting pirates?) Do you see men with eye patches, one leg, and parrots on their shoulders? Woa woa, first things first lets get it right, I was a Royal Marines

commando for 7 years. That’s an elite fighting unit within the UK military. Now I work as what some may call a mercenary. I get contracted out to do various "security type jobs." Currently, I’m chasing down pirates in the Indian Ocean this very second! To answer your question, no the pirates don’t have parrots, but I have one named Tom - he’s feeding me grapes as I type, thanks Tom. Military clothing can be terribly drab and unimaginative. What type of uniforn do you imagine in the David McIntosh army? Ohhh well from my experience working in that God awful heat in Afghanistan we certainly would be trimming down those trousers so I’m thinking; Camo print hot pants, accompanied by a slim fitting waist coat, in camouflage, of course uniformity is the key! Studded leather fingerless gloves, perfect for getting up close and personal with the enemy. And to finish off this dashing combat outfit we would go for a green beret and a black necker chief. Delisssssssshhhh.

Celebrate Queens Day RUFSKIN AMSTERDAM By Eward & Jeanpaul, Owners - RS AMSTERDAM Why did you decide to open RUFSKIN Amsterdam? Jeanpaul and I discovered RUFSKIN quite some years ago online and then friends brought gear for us from the States and we’ve been fans ever since. Almost two and a half years ago we wondered if there would be a market for RUFSKIN in the Netherlands. We did our own marketing research and wrote a business plan. At one point we decided to invite Douglas and Hubert to Amsterdam and to our surprise they took up the invitation. As of then everything went so fast, two months later we travelled to San Diego to meet the rest of the RUFSKIN family and do business. We even visited the NYC Store location which was under construction by the time. Amsterdam is known as a party town, how does RUFSKIN fit into the city? The party guys certainly belong to our clientèle. Our main target audience is the gay urban sportive group and our store is located in the most famous gay street of Amsterdam and even the Netherlands. We never expected that our footprint would be this big. Now gay and straight guys even travel from abroad to visit the Amsterdam boutique. Because the store is right in the old city center we also have more regular tourists and local citizens that find their way to RUFSKIN AMSTERDAM. How would you describe the RUFSKIN Amsterdam customer? There is no real RUFSKIN AMSTERDAM customer. It's a mix, the mix we wanted. Young, older, local, tourists, gym boys, gay, straight. It's our mission to let everybody discover the ubercool RUFSKIN gear and exclude nobody. That seemed to work.

What are your most popular items? In the beginning it was tank tops. We even named our third cat after our best selling tank VINNY. Classics like the ALEJANDRO and a lot of tights and shorts. A lot of Dutch guys discovered the perfect fit and the great colors of the THIAGO twill jeans. That's a great concept! After one year in business, how do you explain the current success? First of all, it’s the style and quality of the RUFSKIN product itself. Strong marketing and perfect photomaterial from the RUFSKIN HQ are also important factors. A lot of hard work from all the RUFSKIN people here and in the States makes this all possible. "We have never dreamed about success we worked for it!" (A quote from Estee Lauder) That's how it is. We think that our www.rufskin-amsterdam.nl webstore is important for our customers as well. A lot of them orientate online, come to the store and get to their target right away. The other way around also happens; guys see

something in the store or the window, and decide to order later on their way or at their home. What's happening on the 30th of April in Amsterdam? That day our Queen Beatrix abdicates and her son Alexander will become our King. That particular weekend just around the corner of our store the whole protocol takes place! The city will be covered in orange (as a tribute to our Royal family; the House of Orange). There will be big street parties all over the city centre on this Queens Day, and the days before, and after. RUFSKIN AMSTERDAM will be open on Queens Day itself until the moment it gets too big of a party. Then it's the perfect party hub for friends and good customers. All the people reading this RUFSKIN magazine must travel to Amsterdam at the end of this month!
