property.
To study environment one needs knowledge inputfrom various disciplines.

Environment belongs to all and is thus important
for all.Whatever be the age, occupation of a person,he or she will be affected by environment and willaffect the environment by his or her deeds.
Therefore environmental studies is global in
nature.
e.g. The atmosphere has no boundaries and the pollutants
produced at one place can be dispersed and transported toanother place.If we want to manage our planet earth we haveto make everyone environmentally educated

Lack of availability of resources from theenvironment
Not knowing where the resources areavailable
Difficulty of getting permission to use theresources, from the respective authorities and ittakes a long time to process

Excursions can be awkward, and timeconsuming to prepare and manage. But they
have a great impact on children.
1. Learning outside the classroom is animportant part of E/S.
2. It makes learning activities highly effective
and the students get first hand experiencesfrom a variety of perspectives.

3.It provides them with opportunities topractice skills of enquiry, valuesanalysis and clarification in everydaysituations.
4. It is also the most enjoyable form oflearning.

Outdoor observation and work connected with
it should be the central part of a childs study, atleast up to about the age of eight or nine years,and in some respects throughout school life.
Teachers should take advantage of these live
examples and not limit their teaching totextbooks and in-class examples.

But the need for careful planning and extremevigilance on the part of organisers is essential.

excursions it is necessary to have extremely soundoverview of what is involved.

POINTS TO REMEMBER
1. You are responsible for the safety of children.2. Seek to have well prepared parent helpers
to accompany the children on excursions(consider to have a number of competentadult helpers for any excursion.
3. Always check numbers regularly BEFORE and
AFTER segments of the excursion4. Use the buddy system . Get children paired.

5. Ensure all MoE and school regulations aremet.
6. You can never be too CAREFUL when incharge of children.
7. Some schools also have their own parentsbriefing sheets for teachers to help teacher
prepare parents for field trips.
