PRINCIPAL’S NEWS A warm welcome back to all of our students, staff and parents for Term 4. I trust
students had an enjoyable break and have returned refreshed and ready to participate in
all the college activities in the lead up to JumpStart and Christmas. (Yes, Christmas
already).
Term 4 is always an extremely busy time in schools. The Year 12 cohort will be studying
hard in the lead in to their final exams which begin on Wednesday 26th October. It is an
exciting and nervous time for these students as they reflect on their six years at Rosebud and think about
the futures in front of them. We wish them all the best for their exams and know that the hard work and
effort they and their teachers have put in over this year and previous years will pay off.
For students in other year levels the term seems to fly by as senior school exams get underway and the
JumpStart program begins in late November. It is imperative that the focus of students in the lower levels
is firmly on their subjects and curriculum programs.
As usual a large number of activities have been running in the college to support our programs. We
welcome back Ms Rapajic and Mr Fujimoto, along with the senior students who had a fantastic trip to our
sister school Gamagori Higashi in Japan. If the amazing photos are anything to go by it was a wonderful
trip.
Many Year 9 students are currently enjoying warm and sunny weather in Central Australia. Reports from
Mr Neale and Mrs Verwey are that the students are having a fantastic time and immersing themselves in
the outback Australian culture. Having visited myself a number of times, I know it is an experience
students will remember for the rest of their lives.
Special congratulations to Mrs Brea Low and the Performing Arts students who participated in Wakakirri.
Their adaptation of the Picnic at Hanging Rock story was beautifully performed. It is a great credit to the
students and staff involved, as I am sure everyone who has seen it would agree. The amount of work
involved and the level of professionalism shown by the students is always inspiring. Of course as a school
community we are so proud of their efforts and extremely happy to be crowned State Champions for the
third year in a row. The National Awards are announced soon and we wish them all the best.
Personally I am excited to begin Term 4 as Acting Principal whilst Andrew Nicholls is on leave. There are
always a large number of events and ceremonies during this time that allow us to acknowledge the great
work of our students and celebrate their successes. I look forward to sharing these with the school
community as the term progresses.

Acting Principal
AUSTRALIAN MATHEMATICS COMPETITION AWARDS This is a prestigious competition that attracts students from many other countries. The focus is on problem solving
and complex applications as well as skill proficiency.
Congratulations to the following students who have been recognized with certificates of high distinction,
distinction, credit and proficiency.
