Where a warm welcome

awaits you!

A Note From Pastor Georgette

Remember what your momma used to say,

"If you can't say something nice, don't say

anything at all"? Momma was partially

right...sometimes saying nothing is better

than using bitter words to get the

outcome we want. However, being "nice" isn't always beneficial either.

Sometimes, the truth--God's truth needs to be shared.

It seems many of the 2016 presidential candidates would do well to remember

what momma used to say! What in the world does the world think of the political theatrics of the

most powerful and influential free nation in the world? Is it possible to tell the truth without

devaluing another, devaluing those forced to hear their bitter words? Every day our culture

becomes more and more polarized. It seems we've forgotten the basic tenets of the faith &

heritage that made America great. We talk without listening. We make judgments without taking

the time to know another's story or understand them. We are determined to protect our "rights",

sometimes at the expense of someone else's.

What did Jesus say about such things? In Luke 6:45, Christ responded to an argument between

the disciples about what is "right" with these words."A good person produces good things from

the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil

heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart."

"What you say flows from what is in your heart"...given Christ's teaching, it gives us pause to

consider our part in accepting "bitter words" as acceptable truth. Will you join me in prayer for

our world, our nation, our communities and Christ's Church in the coming year? Transformation

of the heart and mind begins with us! Prayer changes things. Prayer changes us! When we invite

Christ into our thinking, loving and living, our attitudes begin to take on the mind of Christ

himself. When we are changed, the way we respond to others becomes more Christ-like.

Our transformed hearts can impact others and ultimately the world we live. 2016 can be

different, we can be different. Momma wasn't wrong! Happy New Year Beloved!
