Philosophical Assumptions26Dr. RS Mehta, MSND, CON, BPKIHS
Why M. Sc. Nursing Programme was started for 3 years: Rationale:
1. College of Nursing proposed for 2 years M. Sc. Nursing only in the beginning.
2. All the faculty of College of Nursing and expert from NNC, TU, IOM Nursing campus and nursing expert from AIIMS, PGI, CMC, RAK recommended for 2 years MSN Programme only.
3. There was no 2 years PG. programme at BPKIHS at that time.
Dr. RS Mehta, MSND, CON, BPKIHS 27
4. For uniformity in the entire PG programme, present authorities have enforced to start 3 years M. Sc. Nursing programme at College of Nursing.
5. Finally, the CON, accommodate the time plan of prepared 2 years curriculum in to 3 years by increasing the duration of clinical posting in specialty subjects only.
6. The authorities and numbers of academic committee suggest that, you should review the M. Sc. Nursing programme, when one batch will pass out and analyze, whether 3 years is ideal or 2 years is ideal.
Dr. RS Mehta, MSND, CON, BPKIHS 28
Rationale for proposed two years M. Sc. Nursing Programme:
1. Nationally and internationally the M. Sc nursing programme is of only Two Years.
2. The Nepal nursing council has also approved for 2 years programme only
3. The minimum requirements set by NNC, INC and other regulatory bodies can be met within 2 years.
Dr. RS Mehta, MSND, CON, BPKIHS 29
4. At present in BPKIHS there is 2 years PG programme, MPH in school of public health and community medicine.
5. Based upon the feedback of passed out students, exiting students, and faculties of college of Nursing 2 years M. Sc. Nursing programme will be ideal.
6. All the theory hours and clinical hours expect specialty clinical hours will same in 2 years M. Sc. Nursing programme. The specialty clinical hour’s ratio will be more that NNC requirement i.e. 1:3 is required but 1:4 will be there. The details are depicted in separate sheet for proposed theory and practical hours.
Dr. RS Mehta, MSND, CON, BPKIHS 30
Rationale for proposed two years M. Sc. Nursing Programme…
7. The quality of the students will not be compromised.
8. If duration of M. Sc. Nursing course will be of 2 years more eligible and component applicant will be there, which will increase the quality of the programme.
9. Two years M. Sc. Nursing programme at BPKIHS will give the similarity Result of M. Sc. Nursing in Nepal, India and abroad.
