For this task, you need to produce an advice sheet for one of yourcharacters who is in a difficult situation. You can use Word orPublisher to produce your sheet – the layout of it is up to you.
Layout:
□ Use subtitles to break up your work
□ Use pictures to illustrate the situation – problem and solution
Content:
□ Include an anecdote or story about someone else in a similarsituation; this will help your character to feel like they are notalone.
□ You could include statistics that help your character choose whatto do about their situation.
□ Use a range of modal verbs – could, would, should, might, may, will, etc.
□ Use paragraphs and link them with connectives, referencesbackwards and forwards in the text, synonym changes.
Creating an Advice Leaflet
□ Use conditionals such as ‘if’ or ‘perhaps’ to create a tentativevoice so that the reader does not feel patronised.
□ Use direct address pronouns such as ‘you’ to involve your readerand make it seem more personal.
□ Imperatives are useful for instructing your character. For example,‘Go to the hospital’, ‘Drink lots of fluids to stay hydrated’.

The Guardian Article on Books that Saved My Life
The purpose of a review is to help readers to decidewhether or not they would enjoy reading a book. Youneed to give enough information about the plot to hookthe reader but not so much that they feel there is nopoint in reading it because they know most of whathappens. Comparisons to other books by that author orwhich have similar plots is always helpful.
