From February 19 to 26, 1988 a combined airborne geophysical survey was completed on the property of Kangeld Resources Ltd

of H. Ferderber Geophysics Ltd. The survey was flown in the north-south direction for a total of 540.74 miles from a base

at Wawa.

The magnetic survey provides information which help define underlying geological strutures and identifies potential economic mineralized concentrations which may contain variations in accessory magnetic minerals. The VLF- electromagnetic survey outlines conductive zones which may represent metallic sulphide deposits and/or shear zones

containing economic mineralization.

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION, LOCATION AND ACCESS

The Kangeld Resources property is comprised of 453 claims in Dahl, Dambrossio and Dumas Townships, Algoma District, Sault Ste Marie Mining Division, Ontario. The claims cover

approximately 7248 hectares with 139 claims in Dahl, 193 claims in Dambrossio and 121 claims in Dummas Township. These claims are registered with the Ontario Mining Recorder's Office in Sault Ste Marie and are listed in Appendix I .

The claim group is located just east of the Obatanga Provincial Park in the vicinity of Kabenung Lake. It is approximately 20 miles north of the town of Wawa, and 24 miles south-southeast of the town of White River. Access is readily obtained from

the Trans Canada Highway 17 which passes through the central

western part of the property. Several series of interconnected all weathered and dry weathered roads exiting off Highway 17

cut throughout the western portion which can also be reached by boat on Kabenung Lake.

The eastern portion of the property can be reached by travelling on the all weathered highway to the town of

Dubreuilville. Several interconnected bush roads lead to the property by this highway.

Kabenung Lake, Lonely Lake/ Desolation Lake and several small

lakes, creeks, swamps cover about 2(^ area of the western half,

The eastern half is covered only about 5% by small lakes and

swamps and cut by several creeks such as Soderston and Tea creeks. The rest of the property is forested. Topographic relief is low to moderately high due to the presence of hilly terrain in the area.

Supplies, services and qualified manpower are available in the Wawa-White River Area.

GEOLOGY

The property is located in the northern edge of the east

extension of the Kabenung Lake Greenstone Belt of the Superior

Province of the Canadian Shield. The Belt extends eastward

from Kabenung Lake for a distance of over 50 miles (Goodwin 1962).

The Ontario Department of Mines Geological Compilation Map

2220, the Manitouwadge - Wawa sheet, accompanied by the Ontario Division of Mines Map 2333 indicate that the area is underlain by Archean metavolcanics in the south, metasediments in the center and felsic metamorphic rocks in the north. Each unit

takes up approximately one third of the total area.

The mafic metavolcanics are composed of massive to foliated

andesites to basalts. Pillowed andesites to basalts are also common. Some units of the metavolcanics are metamorphosed to amphibolitic facies.

The metasediments are composed mainly of greywacke, shale,

arkose, quartzite and conglomerate. Bands of iron formation

are mapped within the metasediments along the strike direction, along the southern boundary and also within the metavolcanics.

North of the claim group is underlain by felsic igneous and metamorphic rocks which are composed mainly of granitic, granodioritic and dioritic gneisses.

The area underwent several severe structural changes. Early

batholithic intrusion is evident around West Kabenung Lake and Dickenson Lake where granitic plugs are centered. Several northeast and north-northwest trending faults offset the

underlying rocks at six locations on the property and numerous locations in the surrounding areas. Folding is prominent in the metavolcanics and may have occurred prior to the granitic intrusion and faulting. Several discontinuous, narrow late diabase dykes crosscut all the underlying rocks. These dykes

appear trending northeast and some continue into the felsic metamorphic rocks in the north.

Although there is lack of surface mineral occurrences on the

property, the greenstone belt hosts numerous gold and base

metal showings. Gold, copper, iron and molybdenum were encountered in the surrounding, of the Kabenung Lake intrusion mainly within the metavolcanics.

Goudreau Mine, located about 7 miles southwest of the property,

is a past producer. The host rocks are of mafic metavolcanics which are cut by felsic and mafic intrusives and veins. The main vein, strikes N65O - 90OW, dip 60O - 80OS has been tracedfor 2,000 feet and is from 6 inches to 11 feet wide,

of gold averaged 0.11 ounces per ton of ore milled.

Magpie Station (Regnery Occurrence) is located about 5 miles

southeast of claim group. Gold mineralization is encountered in the metavolcanics. Mineralized zone is 120 feet long and

110 feet wide. Surface samples range from 0.06 to 0.2 ounces of Au per ton. Drilling has been carried out down to 200 feet depth.

The Mishibishu Lake Greenstone belt, located about 2 kilometers

south of the Kabenung Lake Greenstone belt, possesses similar

geological setting as the Kabenung Lake Greenstone Belt and hosts several gold and base metal showings. Recent ambitious

exploration programs after the discovery of Hemlo revealed encouraging results.

The No Name Lake gold showing was discovered in 1984 on the Central Crude-Noranda property in the Mishibishu Lake Greenstone Belt approximately 25 miles southwest of the

property. Grab samples containing gold values of up to 0.744 oz/ton, were collected in quartz veins within a shear zone between mafic volcanic rocks and an intermediate volcanic flow and pyroclastic rocks. Recent smapling during the summer of 1987 identified a structure 200 to 700 meters wide and 4 km long, containing seven anomalous gold zones, ranging in widths from 0.5 m to 11 m. Grab and chip samples assayed from 0.01 oz/ton to 28 oz/ton. The gold was found in intermediate to felsic metavolcanic rocks located on the Central Crude Noranda Property.

The Mishibishu Lake Deformation Zone associated with several of

the gold occurrences in the Mishibishu Greenstone Belt is comprised of several shear zones totaling up to 500 meters is

also host to the Magacon (Muscocho Exploration Ltd.), the Scuzzy little lake (Dominion Explorers Ltd.) and the Discovery

(Westfield Minerals Ltd.) gold showings. They are situated near volcanic-sediment contacts along the deformation zone.

The geology of the Kangled Resources property in the Kabenung Lake Greenstone Belt is similar to that of the Mishibishu

Greenstone belt and has similar potential discovery of gold mineralization.

INSTRUMENTATION AND SURVEY METHODS

The survey was completed using a 1972 Cessna 172, fixed-wing aircraft, call letters CF-EWK, owned and operated by H.

Ferderber Geophysics Ltd. The pilot and navigator/operator were Y. Saucier and d. Thai, respectively, of Val d'Or.

Geophysical sensors were mounted on modified wing tips. The geophysical, navigation and data aquisition systems are described below.

DATA PRESENTATION

Flight lines, fiducial points and geophysical responses were reproduced from the airphoto mosaics at a scale of one inch to 1320 feet (1:15,840). The outline of the claim group, claim map and property boundary are shown on each map sheet.

The aeromagnetic data was corrected for diurnal variations by using a base line as reference. The data was then reduced to a base level of 58,000 gammas, contoured at 25, 100 and 1000 gamma intervals and presented on Maps MG-1, MG-2.

The VLF-EM data was transferred from diskettes to printed form. A base value was determined for the VLF-EM data and the change in the total field strength as a percentage of the base value was calculated. The values were plotted on Maps EM-1, EM-2. The positive values were contoured at intervals of 2%. The conductor axes were determined and labelled l, 2, 3, etc. No priority was attached to the labelling system.

SURVEY RESULTS AND INTERPRETATION

Magnetic Survey

Map MG-1 presents the magnetic data collected on the western

half of the claim group. The airborne magnetic survey outlines three distinctive and extremely high magnetic zones against

background of about 58,800 gammas; one located at the south center over Kabenung Lake and the other two at the southeastern

and northwestern corners. These extremely high magnetic readings (up to 71,000 gammas) are commonly encountered in

areas of iron formation which indicate the extend of the metavolcanics and/or metasediments containing ferrie minerals.

Several moderately high magnetic zones (about 59,200 to 59,800 gammas) are also delineated along the center of the claim group

and they appear trending approximately in the east-west direction. These moderately high magnetic areas are probably underlain by mafic metavolcanics.

Several east-west trending magnetic lows encountered the north of the claim group representing underlying rocks of very low magnetic susceptability, in this case the felsic intrusive and metamorphic rocks. One lone series of moderately magnetic high

in the north center within the magnetic lows may represent

impingement of the mafic metavolcanics into the intrusive rocks.

Geological contacts such as the mafic metavolcanics and the intrusive rocks can be readily observed by the contrast of the low magnetic and moderatly high magnetic. Whereas the distinction between mafic metavolcanics and metasediment are not always obvious.

A north-northeast ti*ending fault is delineated by the breakages and distortions of contour lines in the far east corner. The presumed fault appears to be short, sub-vertical and correspond very well with surface geology.

A second north-northeast trending fault is delineated by the abrupt changes of the contour lines in the east center of the area and labelled as fault 2. It is believed to be sub- vertical fault with significant north-south displacement and correspond very well with surface geology. The fault appears continuing into Kabenung Lake.

The third fault is delineated in the southeast corner of the area and continues into the northwest corner of Map MG-2. The presumed fault is located in the metavolcanic and metasedments with significant northeast-southwest displacement.

MG-2 presents magnetic data collected on the eastern half of the claim group. The iron formation within the mafic metavolcanics in the southeastern corner of Map MG-1 continues about 3/4 mile into the eastern half. A small magnetic depression just north of this area along the boundary indicate the south impingement of the felsic metamorphic rocks which is believed to be displaced by late faulting. A north-northwest trending fault (fault 4) cuts across the property and causes northward displacement of the iron formation bearing metasediments. The fault appears to continue

Page 14: RPT ON THE COMBINED AIRBORNE GEOPH SUR ON DAHL … · PROPERTY DESCRIPTION, LOCATION AND ACCESS The Kangeld Resources property is comprised of 453 claims in Dahl, Dambrossio and Dumas

into the felsic metamorphics. Iron formation in the

metasediments can be readily distinguished by a northeast trending series of magnetic highs. It is much thinner and probably buried deeper than the ones previously mentioned.

Mafic metavolcanics lie just south of the distinctive iron formation and are recognized by the moderate to moderately high

magnetic susceptability except the southeastern corner off the

property where another iron formation is detected.

Several late diabase dykes are present in the eastern half.

They can be distinguished as a series of northwest trending, thin and elongated high magnetic bodies. One northeast

trending late diabase dyke is also delineated in the southeast corner of the map and probably continues off the property.

VLF-electromagnetic

Map EM-1 and EM-2 present VLF-electromagnetic data collected in the claim group. The survey outlines 14 conductive zones on the property and they are described below in numerical order from west to east.

Page 15: RPT ON THE COMBINED AIRBORNE GEOPH SUR ON DAHL … · PROPERTY DESCRIPTION, LOCATION AND ACCESS The Kangeld Resources property is comprised of 453 claims in Dahl, Dambrossio and Dumas

H. FERDERBER GEOPHYSICS LTD

Conductive zone l, located to the far west of map EM-1, is a long continuous zone with moderate amplitude response. The zone splits at the east end where it overlies Kabenung Lake. The zone also overlies along the shoulder of a presumed iron formation and is probably caused by conductive minerals associated with the iron formation and/or geological contact between the metasidements to the south and mafic volcanics to the north.

Conductive zone 2, located in the center of map EM-1, is continuous, weak in amplitude and east-west trending. The zone overlies an anomalous low elongated magnetic body and a creek and also has its east end over Kabenung Lake. The conductive zone is probably caused by surface conductivity of the overburden and lake.

Conductive zone 3, located in the south center of Map EM-1, is continous, very week in amplitude. It overlies an anomalous high magnetic zone and Kabenung Lake. The zone is probably caused by surface conductivity of the lake shore.

Page 16: RPT ON THE COMBINED AIRBORNE GEOPH SUR ON DAHL … · PROPERTY DESCRIPTION, LOCATION AND ACCESS The Kangeld Resources property is comprised of 453 claims in Dahl, Dambrossio and Dumas

H. FERDERBER GEOPHYSICS LTD

Conductive zone 4, located in the south east of map EM-1,

exhibits very high amplitude of up to 601. The zone trends in two main directions, north-south and east-west forming a ring

of discontinuous zones. The zone overlies an area where metasediments cut the mafic volcanics and subsequently being displaced by two major faults. Bands of iron formations are also present in the area. The conductive zone may represent

possible faults/shear zones along with geological contacts.

Conductive zone 5, located along the northern boundary on map

EM-1, is an isolated short and strong conductive zone overlying

a probable fault zone. This could represent discontinuous shear zone along fractured zone within felsic metamorphic rocks.

Conductive zone 6, located in the northeastern corner of Map EM-1 along the boundary, is a discontinuous, strong conductive zone overlying isolated magnetic highs within the felsic metamorphic rocks. The zone may represent isolated mafic

intrusive rocks associated with shears.

Conductive zone 7, located in the southwestern corner of Map EM-2 overlapping Map EM-1, is a continuous east-west trending zone exhibiting moderate amplitude reponse. The zones lies over the edge of a presumed iron formation within the mafic metavolcanics and along the contacts with the metasediments.

It could represent conductive minerals associated with the iron formation and/or shear zone along geological contact.

Conductive zone 8, located along the boundary of Maps EM-1 and EM-2, is an isolated strong zone overlying a lake. This probably reflect conductive overburden of lake shores. -.

Conductive zone 9, located in the central western part of Map EM-2, is a long, continuous and moderately strong in amplitude. The zone also overlies part of an elongated moderately high magnetic body and partly over a creek. This could represent alteration zone along a possible diabase dyke and/or surface response along the creek.

Conductive zone 10, located in the northwestern corner of Map EM-2, is short and discontinuous conductor with relatively high amplitude. The zone lies along a presumed displaced fault among the metasediments, mafic volcanics and felsic metamorphic rocks and possibly represent shear along a fault or fractured zone.

Conductive zone li, located in the northwestern corner along the claim boundaries , i s comprised of two isolated zones with very high amplitude response. These could reflect effect of conductive overburden or lake shore since the two overlie small lakes.

Conductive zone 12, located in the center of Map EM-2, is a long discontinuous and east-west trending conductor. The zone appears splitting at the two ends and exhibits moderate amplitude reponse. The zone overlies a series of small lakes and swamps and also along an elongated magnetic depression. This may reflect surface response and/or geological contacts among units of the metasediments.

Conductive zone 13, located to the south center of Map EM-2, overlies a series of small lakes, swamps and creeks. It may represent surface conductivity of the surrounding topography.

Conductive zone 14, located to the northeastern corner of Map EM-2, is a long, continuous, east-west trending conductive zone. Its amplitude response is weak to moderate. The zone overlies the approximate geological boundary between the metasediments and felsic metamorphic rocks as well as a series of small lakes and swamps. The zone could represent possible geological contact and/or surface conductivity.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

The combined airborne magnetic and VLF-electromagnetic survey were successful in helping outline the underlying geology and delineating conductive zones representing possible shear/fault

zones on the Kangeld Resources Property, Sault Ste Marie Mining Division, Ontario.

The results of the magnetic survey indicate that the claim

group is underlain by Archean metasediments, metavolcanics and felsic metamorphic rocks. The northern parts of the claim

group along off the boundary generally exhibit low magnetic susceptability which are typical of felsic metamorphic and intrusive rocks. Southward impingement of these units along with geological contacts can be readily observed.

Metasediments and mafic metavolcanics underlying the south and

central parts of the claim group are distinguishable by their moderate magnetic susceptability. Metasediments are composed

mainly of conglomerate, greywacke, shale, arkose and quartzite. Mafic metavolcanics are of andesitic to basaltic in

compositions. Bands of iron formation in various sizes are interbedded with both rock types and easily characterized by

distinctive high magnetic signatures. Faulting, folding, batholithic intrusion etc. have caused major structural and

lithological changes among these unitsresulting in the complexity of magnetic patterns. In some cases the distinction

among the units are not apparent from the magnetic maps.

-J. 9- H. FERDERBER GEOPHYSICS LTD

Several possible fault zones as well as geological contacts, late diabase dykes were delineated and marked on maps.

i

The VLF-electromagnetic survey delineated fourteen conductive

zones of various physical property and underlying geology. Conductive zones 2 , 3 , 8, 11 and 13 are believed to be caused

by surface effects such as conductive overburden, lakes, swamps, topographic relief etc. Others are thought to represent bedrocks conductivity which may be associated with sulphide and gold bearing structures and formations.

The structural and lithologic complexity of the property, as

indicated by the magnetic and electromagnetic maps, suggests that the claims are located in a good geologic environment for

economic gold and/or base metals mineralization. Areas of similar geologic environments in the region host numerous past

and present producing mines as well as mineral occurrences. These areas are undergoing intense gold and base metal exploration.
