Report on Overburden Drill Program

Cook Project - Currie and Bowman Townships

Summary

A program of reverse circulation overburden drilling was completed during June, 1981 on two separate claim groups within the Cook Project area. The overburden holes were designed to test for gold mineralization in tills in the up-ice direction from areas where anomalous gold values had been recorded in previous overburden holes. Eleven holes were drilled for a total of 1,515 feet.

Location and Access

The claims are located as follows - 23 claims lie within Lots 3 , 4 and 5, Concessions III and IV in Currie Township and, 8 claims lie within Lots 11 and 12, Concession IV in Bowman Township.

The claim blocks are accessible by means of a series of gravel roads and abandoned concession roads which extend southwards from Highway 101. The locations of the overburden holes are plotted on location maps which are attached to this report.

Property

The property consists of thirty-one (31) claims comprising two separate groups. The claims are numbered as follows:

Previous Work

Asarco Exploration Company of Canada Limited and the Tillex Syndicate have been active in the general area since 1973. Several overburden holes were drilled in and around each of the two claim blocks prior to 1980. Three overburden holes were drilled in the Currie Township claim block and two holes were drilled in the Bowman Township claim block during 1980.

Overburden Drill Program

The overburden drill provided by Bradley Brothers Limited consists of a Longyear 1-38 drill modified for dual-tube reverse circulation drilling. The drill is mounted on an eighteen ton diesel FN160 Flextrack Nodwell, and has a hydraulic derrick capable of handling twenty feet of rods.

In each hole, continuous sample return was logged and monitored through the complete Pleistocene section, and bedrock chips were collected for several feet into bedrock. Whenever till was identified or suspected, samples of the minus 10 mesh material were collected. These samples would average about fifteen pounds each. A large amount of the plus 10 mesh pebbles and boulder chips was included with each sample to assist in studies of till composition.

Individual drill holes were located in such a way as to confirm the results of previous drilling and to trace anomaly trains up-ice from the holes in which they were originally discovered. In general the anomaly trains were found to trend approximately 155 to 170 .

Pleistocene Geology

Most of the area is underlain by clay deposits from glacial lake Barlow-Ojibway. In a few places the clays grade laterally and upwards into coarse sand and gravelly outwash material which may be proximal to a former shoreline. The lake deposits are under lain by glacial tills.

Overburden holes in the Currie Township claim block intersected the lake clays near surface and then penetrated at least two tills before they reached bedrock at depths ranging from 80 to 170 feet. The basal till has been strongly compacted by over-riding ice sheets and the clay material within the till has been very highly compacted to form a "super-clay".

Overburden holes in the Bowman Township claim block intersected 52 to 100 feet of lake clays near the surface and then penetrated 7 to 33 feet of sand and gravel and glacial till before reaching highly weathered and decomposed bedrock. There appears to be only one till overlying bedrock in the Bowman claim block and no "super-clay" was encountered in the holes.

Anomalous gold values were found to occur in the heavy mineral concentrates from overburden samples collected from one hole on the Currie Township claim block and from all three holes drilled on the Bowman Township claim block.

Conclusions

Good basal tills were encountered in the Cook Project overburden holes drilled during 1981. These tills provided an excellent sampling medium.

Anomalous gold' values were recorded for heavy mineral concentrates from overburden samples collected in some of the holes.

Please find enclosed a Mining Act Report of Work form upon which we report an overburden drilling.programme carried out in Currie Township during June 1981. Also enclosed is a drill hole location map and a list of claims to which we are applying credit.

We are reporting eight overburden holes with total expenditure of $14,048.75 for an assessment credit of 900 days distributed evenly over fifteen claims.

Some of this work was done on several claims within the continuous block of claims to which we are not applying credit. These claims (coloured yellow) already have been submitted for the maximum allowable credit of 60 days (OVB Drilling). We wish to distribute the work credit to the remainder of the claim group (coloured green)

Dear Sir,

Please find enclosed duplicate copies of a report on overburden drilling during June 1981 in Currie and Bowman Townships.

This report includes a descriptive text and logs covering eight overburden holes in Currie Township and three overburden holes in Bowman Township which together constitute the Cook Project. We are reporting here on eight of the holes (1,278 feet) in Currie Township. This amounts to an expenditure of $14,048.75 for an assessment credit of 900 days to be distributed evenly over fifteen claims, numbered L594509 to L594511 inclusive and L624446 to L624457 inclusive. Included in this report is a cost breakdown on these eight overburden holes with copies of expenses incurred, drill logs and a drill hole location map.

The Mining Act Report of Work has been previously submitted to the Mining Recorder, Larder Lake Mining Division Ontario.

We trust that all the necessary data to record this assessment credit is in order. Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any queries concerning our submission.
