INTRODUCTION
The Dogpaw-Cameron Lake area has been subject to gold prospecting since the late ISOO's. This area hosts a number of gold deposits which are associated with splay faults off of the regional Pipestone- Cameron Fault. The largest of these deposits is also the most recently discovered. The Cameron Lake deposit (3.1 million tons at 0.17 oz/ton gold) was first found by prospecting in I960 This surface showing went through three separate exploration programs before deep diamond drilling intersected the Main Zone in 1983.
The Dogpaw Lake Property is underlain by part of the Pipestone-Cameron Fault and also the strike extension of the shear zone which hosts the Sewell gold occurrence. The Sewell is a surface showing containing about 25.000 tons at 0.10 oz/'ton. The property is also on strike to the northeast of the Dogpaw gold deposit owned by Canadian Arrow Mines Ltd. The Dogpaw deposit contains 96.650 tons at 0.43 oz ton and underwent a surface bulk sampling in the fall of 1995. Therefore, the property is geologically well located and merits a thorough exploration program to evaluate its potential.
PROPERTY DESCRIPTION
The property consists of one claim, K. 1196649, of 2 claim units and contains approximately 32 hectares. It was recorded on October 16, 1995, and requires S800 assessment work by October, 1997.
LOCATION AND ACCESS
The property is centered about latitude 49 20'30" and longitude 93 52'15", within the Dogpaw Lake Area claim map G-2613. It is approximately 64 km southeast of the town of Kenora. Access to the property is provided by an all-weather gravel road to the Cameron Lake deposit from Highway 71. The property is located 1,300 m north of the road at the Cedartree River bridge which can then be accessed by boat or on foot (see Fig. 1). The Cameron mine road has restricted access and requires a permit from the Ministry of Natural Resources in Kenora to travel on it.
PREVIOUS EXPLORATION
The area was first prospected for gold in the late ISOO's where quartz veins containing free gold were found at the Otonabee Mine, 800 m south-west of the property. Those veins were rediscovered as the Dogpaw deposit in 1943 by Noranda Mines prospectors. Surface trenching and diamond drilling up to 1961 have delineated 96.650 tons at 0.43 oz/ton gold and is owned by Canadian Arrow Mines Ltd. The south half of the property was part of that claim group patented in the 1940'sT but had subsequently lapsed
The Dubenski gold deposit, 1,600 m south-east of the property, was also delineated between the 1940's and 1960's where drilling has outlined 100,000 tons at 0 25 oz/ton gold. It is not hosted in quartz veins but consists of silicified, carbonatized and pyritic sericite-schist. The Dubenski deposit exibits many similarities to the Lightning Zone in the Harker-Holloway area which is being developed by Hemlo Gold Mines.

The Cameron Lake gold deposit. 10 km south-east of the property. was first found by Noranda prospectors in 1960 This showing went through three separate exploration programs before deep diamond drilling from surface, by Nuinsco/Lockwood. intersected the Main Zone in 1983 Underground evaluation has delineated 3.1 million tons at 0.17 oz/ton gold.
The Cameron Lake discovery in 1983 precipitated a large amount of exploration in the area However, the south half of the property was part of Cymbal Explorations Inc. property where 13 claims had been staked in 1979 to cover the Sewell gold occurrence. The Sewell occurrence was discovered by Noranda prospectors in 1943 Surface work from 1944 to 1961 delineated the Sewell No. 2 zone. It is 200 m long by 2.5 to 7 m wide on surface of 25.000 tons and averages 0.10 oz, ton gold. The Cymbal Explorations work included ground VLF. mag and geology surveys and diamond drilling around the showing which gave disappointing results. None of the drilling filed occurred on the pan of the property which contains the south half of the present property However, a pallet of AQ core is located at 0+15S/0-07E from one short hole that appears to be from that era. The core contains gabbro and QFP dikes variably sheared and altered and was presumably drilled nearby None of the core was split or sampled. The north half of the property is covered by Dogpaw Lake and no diamond drilling is known to have been done on it.
PROPERTY GEOLOGY
The north half of the property is underlain by the Pipestone-Cameron Fault, a regional fault over 100 km in length. In this area, it is characterized by a wide zone of sericite-chlorite schist probably derived from mafic metavolcanics. North of the fault on shore is mafic metavolcanics and south of the fault on shore is gabbro, felsic metavolcanics and QFP dikes. This part of the property is covered by Dogpaw Lake and is poorly explored.
The south half of the property is mainly underlain by gabbro with minor intermediate to felsic metavolcanics and quartz-feldspar porphyry dikes. A number of carbonatized. chlorite-sericite shear zones transect the property which are the strike continuations of the shears which host the Canadian Arrow gold deposit and the Sewell gold occurrence. These shear zones are focussed along QFP\gabbro contacts and strike parallel to the Cameron-Pipestone Fault at 110 and dip at 80 north Initial rock sampling along parts of these zones has returned moderately anomalous results of 67 ppb Au at a sheared and altered QFP/gabbro contact at LOM-57N coincident with a humus Au anomaly.
ORIENTATION HU>RS SURVEY
Line 3W south of the baseline and Line 0 north of the baseline were chosen for an orientation humus survey Sixteen samples of black humus beneath the top A litter horizon were collected at 25m intervals These were analysed by Chemex Labs for Au. Sb, As and W (see Appendix for analytical techniques). Sb. As and W all returned background levels. There were 2 samples which returned Au values above the detection limit of 5 ppb. These samples, 33 ppb at LO/1+50N and 10 ppb at LO/1+25N are associated with a sheared. 5m wide QFP dike at LO/1-50N.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The property contains a number of shear zones some of which host gold deposits off the property. These shears merit more focussed attention. Therefore, it is recommended that a humus program be completed over the whole grid analysing for gold only. The QFP dike and gabbro contacts associated with the humus anomaly at LO/1+50N should be stripped and detail sampled as well as any other humus anomalies.
