1.0 INTRODUCTION

Systematic VLF "Fraser Method" and Magnetic Surveys were performed over twenty

mining claims held by Rado Reef Resources Inc. in Bomby and Brothers Townships,

Ontario, in an attempt to delineate favourable targets in the search for precious

metal deposits.

2.0 LOCATION AND ACCESS

The claim group covered by this report is located approximately mid-way between

Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie by road. Both the Canadian Pacific Railway and

Trans Canada Highway 17 are located nearby.

Approximately twenty-six miles west of White River, a bush trail runs south from

Highway 17, a distance of 2 1/2 miles to a point 1/2 mile west of the western Rado

Reef claim boundary.

3.0 PROPERTY

The property consists of twenty contiguous unpatented mining claims about one mile

south of Molson Lake in Bomby and Brothers Townships, Sault Ste. Marie Mining Division,

Ontario. These include:

SSM 694128 694129 694130 694131 694132

SSM 694136 694137 694138 694139 694140

SSM 694141 694142 694143 694146 694147

SSM 694148 694149 694150 694151 694160

4.0 PREVIOUS WORK

Gold was first discovered in the general area in 1945 in a shear zone on ground now

held by International Corona Resources Ltd, approximately three miles northwest of

Page 4: RPT ON EM & MAG SUR€¦ · 6.0 SURVEY PROCEDURE AND INSTRUMENTATION The Electromagnetic Survey was carried out using an EM-16 unit manufactured by Geonics. The "Fraser Method" was

the Rado Reef property. Some surface drilling was performed between 1947 and 1957

by Lake Superior Mining Corporation and Teck Exploration Co. Ltd, on adjoining claims

but no further exploration appears to have been performed until 1981 when Corona

intersected encouraging gold values in surface diamond drilling on their property.

No previous exploration vas noted on the Rado Reef claims in the Ontario Geological

Survey Assessment files.

5.0 GEOLOGY

Regional mapping by the Ontario Geological Survey (Manitouwadge-Wawa Sheet -

Map 2220) indicates that the contact between the mafic metavolcanics of the Heron

Bay Sequence and the Pukaskwa Gneissic Complex to the southwest runs through the

northern portion of the claim group. A sequence of dark green, amphibolitized and

foliated flows up to 1/2 mile wide are intruded by the gneissic material to the south.

Northeast of the mafic lavas is the main band of metasediments which are reported to

host the gold deposits located recently in this area. Rock types are striking north

west with steep dips to the northeast.

The western portion of the Rado Reef property appears to be underlain by the

Pukaskwa Gneissic Complex. Rocks forming this unit vary from a foliated feldspar

free granite to a granodiorite. Pegmatite and aplite dikes are common.

6.0 SURVEY PROCEDURE AND INSTRUMENTATION

The Electromagnetic Survey was carried out using an EM-16 unit manufactured by

Geonics. The "Fraser Method" was used to transform the data into an easily con

toured presentation which simplified interpretation.

Lines were cut at 400 foot spacings. The data vas collected at 100 foot intervals

with the occasional 50 foot reading. The frequency observed was 17.8 kH. and the

survey was performed by CDI Surveys of Val d'Or.

-3-

Fhe Magnetic Survey was completed using a UN1MAG li unit manufactured by Geometrics.

Readings were observed at 100 foot intervals in September 1983.

7.0 INTERPRETATION

Two anomalous areas were outlined by the VLF Survey. The strongest VLF anomaly

occurs in the northern portion of the claim group. This northwest-southeast

trending anomaly ie centered on L32+OOW, 26+OON. It extends off the northern portion

of the property at L52+OOW and off the eastern portion at L4+OOW, 19+OON. A broad

moderate magnetic anomaly is associated with this conductor and the anomaly may be

due to sulphides at the contact between the mafic metavolcanics and the Gneissic

Complex.

A second weaker VLF anomaly extends from L4+OOW, 4+OON, northwesterly to L24+OOW,

12+OON. It appears briefly for a few hundred feet centered on L48+OOW, 25+OON.

There is no magnetic expression associated with this anomaly and therefore, it may

be due to a structural feature.

Several east-west trending magnetic features occur in the eastern corner of the

property. There are no associated VLF anomalies.

8.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

The Rado Reef Resources Inc. property which consists of twenty contiguous unpatented

mining claims lies approximately three miles southeast of the Hemlo gold discovery of

International Corona. As several geophysical targets have been outlined by the VLF

and Magnetic Surveys, a detailed geological mapping and sampling program is

recommended prior to diamond drilling.
