SUMMARY

Underground

The dewatering program was carried out on a continuing

basis in 1985.

The high volume of water in the old existing workings

of the mine plus the normal spring runoff, plus seepage-

mostly through old surface drill holes in an around Simpson

Lake which overlies the north-west portion of the mine

workings and a major influx from adjoining water filled

abandoned mines - notably the Paymaster Mine on the west

by workings on the same vein system creates abnormal pumping

problems resulting in slow progress, overworked pumps and

excessive power costs.

The new pumping facility installed on the 200 foot

level in 1984 does little to alleviate the problem.

A program of floor sampling was carried out on the

2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Levels in an effort to indicate

possible areas of ore in accessible areas and also present

ly inaccessible workings which would justify the expense of

rehabilitation for safe, profitable mining.

Surface

A limited surface program of Diamond Drilling, pros

pecting and sampling was carried out over promising areas

on the Deloro Township section of the property.

A small overburden drilling program was carried out

over a local area of glacial basal till.

PROPERTY

The property is comprised of one group of contiguous

patented and unpatented mining claims situated in the south-

east quadrant of Tisdale Township and in north-east quadrant

of Deloro Township in the Porcupine Mining Division of

Ontario.

PROGRAMS

Underground

Mine rehabilitation, maintainance and pumping was

carried out on a continuing basis with the goal of develop

ing and mining five main areas of ore which remains in situ-

left from previous operations.

A program of floor sampling was carried out in the

upper five levels of the mine with a goal of indicating possible areas of ore in accessible working areas plus areas of presently inaccessible (unsafe) areas which would justify rehabilitation and mining. Most of these and work due to retreat mining carried out by previous operators prior to shutdown.

The excessive volume of water existing in the old workings plus the excessive influx of Water introduced into the mine by normal runoff, seepage from a sizable lake which overlies the west portion of the mine, numerous old

surface drill holes, two major fault systems and the flooded

abandoned Paymaster Mine which is linked up via open stopes on the same vein system.

Surface

Limited diamond drilling on geophysical and geological

target zones plus some prospecting and sampling was carried out on a section of the property in Deloro Township.

A program of overburden drilling utilizing the Sonic Overburden Drill was carried out on the south-west side of

the east tailings dump to sample basal till.

No gold was detected in the samples.

OBJECTIVE

Underground

The mine rehabilitation is directed for eventual mining

and developing ore left in place from previous operations

as follows:

(i) Some 50,000 tons of above mine grade ore leftin place. This ore was discovered and partially developed and mined following the decision to close the mine and retreat-mine towards surface while the mine was being allowed to flood and the pumps pulled in 1968.

(ii) Considerable tonnage was left in the walls of shrinkage stopes which was not viable ore at that time. Cutoff grade in the mine to maintain profitable mill heads was o.14 ounces gold per ton.

(iii) Upwards of 350,000 tons of high sulphide content gold ore remains partially developed between the

(iii) 18th and 10th level in the old Midcamp section of the property under Simpson Lake. This type ore was not amenable for treatment in the mill in use at that time. The new mill under construction is made to order for this ore.

(iv) An estimated 100,000 ounces of gold is contained in the No. 2 shaft main pillar which lies between the 4th and 7th levels.

(v) Ore mined and under development by Dome Mines Limited on their 20th level (our 19th level) strikes and dips up into Diepdaume property to the south. Thid represents a considerable tonnage of probable new ore in addition to that partially developed by Preston Mines Limited but not mined due to rising waters of the planned flooding leading to shutdown in 1968.

Surface

Discover and develop near surface ore for rapid exploitation to provide mill feed and subsequent profits to help finance the rehabilitation of workings for de velopment and mining of underground ore.

EXPLORATIOM

Underground

An extensive program of underground sampling was carried out on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th levels.

1,120 Samples were taken at five foot intervals along the level workings and around raises and near chutes, (see map of assay plans)

Surface

Three short holes totalling 339 feet were drilled on

the Deloro Section of the property to test one electromagnetic

conductor and a geological structure detected in 1984.

Also in the Deloro Section an area of very old deep

overgrown and caved trenches were discovered and investi

gated for possible mineralization.

A local area of glacial basal till was tested for

possible gold mineralization utilizing the Sonic Over

burden drill.

Core Size A W (l 3/16") Diameter

Hole 85DE-1: was collared to intersect an electromagnetic

conductor but broke through a buried scarp into over

burden and abandoned.

Hole 85DE-2: was set back from hole 85DE-1 and crossed the

conductor. Nothing of interest was detected. The conductor

is attributed to the clay filled depression on the north side

of the Porcupine - Destor Fault.

Hole 85DE-3: was drilled to complete the section- across a

wide quartz-carbonate-chlorite schist intersected' in the

1984 drilling. The zone was found to extend an additional

eighty feet in width to the north-west but did not carry

economic mineralization.

Prospecting and Sampling

Very old trenching was discovered by prospecting on the

Deloro Section of the Property.

.. There, are no rock outcrops in the immediate area of the

trenches.

Sampling of the loose rock in the caved-in trenches

did not reveal economic minerals nor reason for the work.

There are no known records of this work. The trenches will

be more fully investigated by re-excavating.

Overburden Drilling

Eight short holes Here drilled in a local area of

glacial basal till to test for gold values.

No gold was detected in any of the samples.

Report on Overburden Drillingt

Summary

A limited program of overburden drilling was carried out by Sonic Soil Sampling Inc. in a selected area.

The area chosen is down strike of the last glacial movement to test for glacially transported gold hopefully from the probable vein extension of a narrow quartz vein which is located some two hundred feet to the north. A small remnant only of the quartz vein is visible in a rock cut. It may continue under the present tailings site.

Drill Program

8 holes were bored for a total of 422 feet in boulder clay. The mudded core obtained in 2 to 5 foot increments was agitated in water and the colloidal material decanted away. The larger rock fragments were examined and discard ed. The small amount of sandy silt concentrate was panned but no metallic minerals were present. No assays were re quired .

Conclusions

No metallic minerals were detected in any of the samples

No further testing is warranted.
