C E L E B R A T I N G 1 0 Y E A R S Q U A K E R W O O D 2020 Award-winning scientist Richard Fortey will explain how a Chilton beech woodland has survived for nearly a thousand years on the same site, earning a living while at the same time supporting a rich community of special plants and animals. His book The Wood from the Trees will provide the background to his talk – describing a yearlong study of several acres of beech and bluebell wood that he bought after retiring from his position at the Natural History Museum. Richard Alan Fortey FRS FRSL, former senior palaeontologist at the Natural History Museum, natural history writer & author and TV presenter.
