THEN, NOW & HOW – RQYS VISION, MISSON & VALUES
STRATEGY
Pillar 1: ParticipationOur first pillar focuses on our commitment to facilitating participation in the sport of yachting, and providing more channels through which members andguests can become involved in the sport competitively and recreationally; be it through learning to sail, racing, cruising, volunteering or crewing.
Our goal is to provide the culture, encouragement, infrastructure and environment to increase interest and remove barriers to participation in this greatsport. We have identified the need to improve pathways to participation for women, families and youth as well as maintain and enhance our traditionalyachting pathways. In order to diversify our member population and increase RQYS representation at all levels, we encourage learners to Olympians, across a wide range of participation options from stand up paddle boarding to offshore racing and cruising.
Pillar 2 & 3: Sustainability & World Class Member FacilitiesOur second and third pillars ensure the continuing prosperity of our prestigious Squadron for the next 131 years and beyond. Underpinned by strongbusiness and membership growth, the Squadron’s commitment to sustainability encompasses environmental care and protection, first class hospitalityservices, member asset development & preservation, and destination acquisition. This strategy will sustainably produce and protect assets such as ourfish-friendly marinas, new sport and amenities facilities and exciting destinations down and across the Bay.
Pillar 4: Member Value and GrowthOur fourth pillar embraces members as the life blood of the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron. We are proud that our Squadron has one of the highestpercentages of yachting members when compared with other yacht clubs in Australia. Our strategy also encourages and enables important on-waterparticipation opportunities to our growing family, female, and social member intakes. RQYS provides the perfect membership opportunity for those with alove for all things on the water.
