ROYAL EXCHANGE THEATRE

Location and Description

The Royal Exchange Theatre is old building and it is in Manchester in the U.K. It was built hundreds years ago. It is a big hall and historic, but it is very high building. It has very wonderful graffiti , some big pylons and two very big tomes.

When we visited this theatre we felt very excited , because we saw to British culture at this building and the beautiful architecture .

HISTORY

The Royal Exchange Theatre was built in 1729 by businessmen. In 1921 the building changed to trading hall for buy and sell cotton industry. In that time the hall was used the largest trading building. However in 1940 the building damage from wartime. Next to , the building was built again in 1953 and closed the trading in it on 31 of December 1968.

TODAY

Now is a great theater, looking like a space ship has landed in the centre of this great Victorian building , is the main theatre space , with 760 seats, none of which are more 9 metres from the seven sided stage. The seven sides, with seating areas over lapping , are made to represent a rose and mean that audience members are not facing straight onto anyone.
