Saturday, Dec 30, 2017 <> Tour the heart & soul of Memphis! Visit the Slave Haven Under-ground Railroad Museum to learn the story of a German immigrant who was a part of the elaborate secret escape railroad for slaves trying to escape to freedom in the north. See the slave Market District historical parks, monuments and churches. Next visit Cotton Row and the Cotton Museum, the main economic stay for this city…..without Cotton there would be no Memphis as we know it today. Learn the history of the Mississippi River and how it forms a city. Enjoy a Smoke, Sauce and Soul lunch at BB King’s, with entertainment and the story of the Memphis BBQ, on Beale Street. Although W.C. Handy, known as the Father of The Blues, was not a native of Memphis, his music was and still is the soul of Memphis. See Handy park and visit the Handy Home and Museum located on Beale. The Civil Right movement brought another dark time to Memphis. See the National Civil Rights Museum, formerly the Lorraine Motel, where Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. Drive by St Jude Hospital and learn the story of how a fledgling entertainer set out to keep a promise and save children’s lives around the world. Rock your way through the Rock n’ Soul Museum for the full story of Memphis music from Blues to Rock n’ Roll and on to today.
