About our centre
The Roy Fagan Day Centre is a purpose
built day respite facility situated on a
sunny site attached to the Roy Fagan
Centre.
The centre cares for persons over the
age of 65 with psychiatric illness and/or
cognitive impairment.
Care is provided from one to three days
a week, subject to availability.
To ensure client safety and quality of
care our service is limited to eight
clients each day.
How to access our service
Referrals are made to the Mental Health
Services Helpline from a GP, Case
Manager or community service provider

After referral a full assessment is made
to review suitability to attend the centre.
Our operating hours are:
Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

What Clients need to bring
As a guide for you:
• Clothing that is suitable for the
weather. Such as coats, gloves
and hats in winter, light clothes
and sunhats in summer.
• Walking aids, such as walking
sticks, walking frame.
• Any medications which may be
required during the day.
These must be in a Webster Pack.
• Personal items such as eye glasses,
hearing aids.
• Items that you may wish to bring
for individual activities or to share
with others.
Service we provide
Clients are picked up in the morning by
the day centre staff and taken to the
centre, then taken home after 2:30 pm
the same day.
Whilst at the Roy Fagan Day Centre
clients enjoy a hot lunch, morning and
afternoon tea for a small cost.
Our Team
The Centre is staffed by a full time
enrolled nurse and a carer. The Roy
Fagan Nurse Unit Manager has
oversight of the Day Centre.
We have access to health professionals
including:
• Psychiatrist specialising in care for
older persons
• Community Case Management
Team
• Social Worker and Occupational
Therapist (Allied Health).
Activity programs
We aim to provide a setting which
fosters participation and enjoyment.
We encourage clients to take part
in activities to their individual ability.
A range of activities are provided
including gardening, cooking,
crosswords, board games, craft,
music, art, videos, gentle exercise,
excursions and celebration of
special events.
