How to Get Service

To activate this Limited Warranty Purchaser should bring the vehicle to a Ford dealership that sells Roush Performance vehicles The Ford dealership will review all claims for defects in or damage arising from Roush Performance part(s) or their improper installation Upon the Ford dealerships


Section 2 - Vehicle Characteristics The engineering objective in determining our vehicles wheel tire and suspension configuration was to produce a true performance machine one meant to be driven As such you should know that your Roush Performance vehicle may have some characteristics that are unlike most vehicles They include

1 A firmer ride if equipped with a Roush Performance suspension system The ride quality is due to an engineered and balanced suspension system that improves your vehicles handling You will notice significantly less body roll a tighter feel and a more immediate response to your driving inputs due to the revised suspension tuning

2 Less ground clearance created by the re-engineered suspension system along with front side and rear aerodynamic styling components This is important to remember when driving over rough terrain or steep driveways Damage to the body styling components may result from ground contact or contact with parking blocks or curbs and is not covered by Roushs warranty

3 Wide low profile tires have an increased tendency to transmit road irregularities into the steering system This is not a defect in your vehicle and is due to road conditions such as crowned or grooved pavement

4 Since our vehicles have aerodynamic body styling components available side exhaust systems and wider wheels and tires use of an automatic or track-type car wash will damage your vehicle Hand washing only is recommended

vehicle was put into service During the warranty period Roush Performance will repair replace or adjust any defective Roush Performance part(s) on the vehicle or other substantially damaged areas that arise as a direct result of its interaction with the defective Roush Performance part(s)

What is Not Covered

The following circumstances are intended to parallel standard Ford warranty exclusions and are not covered by this Limited Warranty including but not limited to (1) road hazards misuse abuse neglect accidents collision fire theft freezing vandalism riot explosion or objects striking the vehicle (2) misusing the vehicle such as driving over curbs overloading racing or using the vehicle as a stationary power source (3) altering adding parts disassembling or modifying the Roush Performance part(s) after the vehicle leaves the Ford dealerships or the Roush Performance Centers control (4) tampering with the vehicle or with other parts that affect the Roush Performance part(s) (5) defects caused or induced by failures breakdowns or damage by other parts components or the vehicle (6) vehicle recall or service campaign warranty claims negotiable on an incident-by-incident basis (7) subjecting the Roush Performance part(s) to excess moisture or water or any motor vehicle fluids (eg oil antifreeze battery acid brake fluid etc) (8) acts of God natural disasters and other similar causes beyond the reasonable control of Roush Performance or

Section 6 - Roush Performance Limited Warranty Who is Covered

The original purchasers (Purchaser) of genuine Roush parts and components (Roush Part(s)) from Ford dealerships and installed at a Roush Performance Center This Limited Warranty applies only to the Purchaser of Roush part(s) and is non-transferable

Warranty Period for Roush Performance Part(s) and Coverages

From the date of installation at a Roush Performance Center the warranty periods will be the first to occur of

bull 12 months or 12000 miles for Roush Performance chrome wheels bull 36 months or 36000 miles for all other Roush Performance parts bull Tires are warranted by the manufacturer

When installed Roush Performance part(s) will void the Ford warranty as it pertains to that specific part or component (ie a Roush Performance suspension package will only void the Ford suspension warranty) Notwithstanding this fact Roushs warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship of Roush Performance part(s) and their installation from the date and mileage the


Section 3 - Operation and Maintenance Engine Fuel

As your Roush Stage 3 Mustang is a high-performance vehicle it requires premium unleaded fuel of at least 91 octane (R~M ) We also recommend replacing your fuel filter every 30000 miles with a Motorcraft FG-9868 filter

Engine Oil and Filter

Change your engine oil every 6 months or 6000 miles using a high-quality 5W30 motor oil that meets or exceeds API Service Category SJ This should be done more frequently if high operating temperatures are encountered The use of synthetic oils will not void your engine warranty provided they are changed every 6 months6000 miles Your Roush Stage 3 Mustang uses a Motorcraft FL820-S oil filter The filter should be changed every time you change your engine oil

Spark Plug Type and Gap

Your Roush Stage 3 Mustang is equipped with Motorcraft AGSF-12-FM1 spark plugs set to a gap of 0043-0047 They should be replaced every 30000 miles or two years whichever occurs first Use of another spark plug design can damage the engine and will void your warranty

Coolant System Refill

NOTE Refer to the Mustang Owners Guide for coolant specification RADIATOR HOSE

To refill the cooling system use the following procedure

1 Loosen the hose clamp attaching the upper radiator hose to the thermostat housing Remove that end of the hose and hold it up

2 Fill the radiator through the upper hose and overflow bottle to the full level using approved coolant

3 Slowly top off the hose (do not overflow) Replace the hose to the thermostat housing and tighten the hose clamp

4 Fill the overflow bottle to the fill line

5 Operate the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature Check the overflow bottle fill level and add coolant as necessary

6 Recheck the overflow bottle after the engine has cooled and if necessary add coolant to bring the level up to the fill line

Roush Performance reserves the right to make changes to its vehicle components at any time and without liability or incurring any obligation to make the same or similar changes on vehicles previously built or sold

Does the Roush Warranty Apply in Other Countries

The Roush Performance Limited Warranty described here applies to your vehicle if

bull It was originally sold or leased by a Ford dealer in the US or US Federalized Territories who sells Roush Performance vehicles and

bull It was originally registered licensed and operated in the US US Federalized Territories or Canada

If you meet these two requirements you have Roush Performance warranty coverage when you travel with your vehicle outside of the United States In some cases you may have to pay the servicing Ford dealer in a foreign country for a repair that is covered under the Roush Performance warranty If this occurs be sure to save the paid repair order or invoice For refund consideration you must present the receipt to your US Ford dealer who sells and services Roush Performance vehicles

Customer satisfaction is a primary objective of Roush Performance and we make every effort to ensure that our customers are satisfied We recognize the importance of retaining customer confidence in us after the purchase and rely on your selling Ford dealer to maintain effective customer relations

If you have any questions or issues relating to your Roush Performance vehicle we suggest you follow these steps

1 First contact the Ford dealer salesperson or service advisor where you purchased your Roush Performance vehicle

2 If your concern(s) remain unresolved after step 1 please contact the Ford sales manager or service manager where you purchased your Roush Performance vehicle

3 If you are still unable to resolve your concern please feel free to contact our Customer Service Center at 1-800-59-ROUSH A Roush Performance representative will answer your call and assist you in resolving your concern

Operation and Maintenance

Power Steering

Care must be taken when checking the power steering fluid level or refilling the reservoir not to drip fluid onto the alternator which is located under the reservoir A suggestion would be to cover the alternator with a shop towel whenever you check or fill the power steering reservoir

Supercharger

Your vehicles supercharger is a sealed assembly and contains no user serviceable parts including the pulleys Attempting to remove the pulleys will damage the supercharger and void the powertrain warranty If you need service on your Roush supercharger contact your selling dealer or call Roush Performance at 1-800-59-ROUSH before repairs are initiated

Intercooler

bull Your vehicle is equipped with a fluid to air intercooler This provides cooler charge air to the cylinders allowing your engine to develop more power

bull Intercooler Fuse - The 20 amp maxi fuse for the intercooler pump is located in the power distribution panel under the hood

bull Intercooler Fluid - Use a 5050 mix of automotive antifreeze and distilled water This provides proper pump lubrication and freeze protection Change the fluid every 36 months

bull Intercooler Fill Procedure - Fill to one inch from top of the reservoir Turn the ignition key to the on position and purge any air in the system Top-off as necessary

bull Debris on the Intercooler Radiator - Clean the debris from the intercooler radiator as needed using low pressure water High pressure spray may damage the cooling fins

Throttle Body

The sealing compound around the inside of the throttle bore is critical to vehicle performance It seals the throttle plate during closed throttle operation Do not mistake this compound for dirt and inadvertently remove it during routine service as this will disrupt idle air flow calculations resulting in poor closed throttle operation No performance gain is possible by removing this sealer Servicing the throttle body is not necessary

Powertrain Control Module

The calibration values contained in the Powertrain Control Module are the exclusive property of Roush Performance (Roush) and contain highly proprietary confidential and trade secret


Vehicle Service

Roush Performance has arrangements with specific Ford and LincolnMercury dealers to service vehicles equipped with Roush Performance items In case a service need arises contact the selling Ford dealer for service When this is not possible contact any Ford or LincolnMercury dealer who sells Roush Performance vehicles If you require further assistance please contact Roush Performance corporate offices at 1-800-59-ROUSH Please have available the vehicle identification number Roush serial number date and place of purchase

Emergency Repairs

If you encounter an emergency where your vehicle is disabled and a Ford or LincolnMercury dealer is not available to repair your Roush Performance vehicle and you must have repairs made by someone other than a Ford or LincolnMercury dealer Roush Performance may reimburse you for

bull the cost of repairs within reason and with prior approval from Roush Performance Be sure to obtain the parts that were replaced along with a receipt for the repairs Present both to your selling Ford dealer who will work with Roush Performance to determine if the repair is warrantable and reimbursement is justified

When Does Your Roush Warranty Begin

Your Roush warranty starts either the day you take delivery of your new vehicle or the day it is first put into service (for example as a Ford dealer demonstrator) whichever occurs first To activate your Roush warranty you MUST complete and mail the Roush Performance warranty card supplied with your vehicle If one was not included with your vehicle please contact us at 1-877-517-6874

Should you require warranty repairs to any Roush Performance-installed product on your vehicle you may take your vehicle for service at any Ford dealer who sells Roush Performance vehicles

Who Pays for Roush Warranty Repairs

You will not be charged for approved covered warranty repairs made during the warranty period for Roush Performance items installed at a Roush Performance Center All initial warranty claims are processed through Roush Performance corporate offices in Livonia Michigan regardless of where the vehicle was purchased in the United States


information of Roush User may not copy reverse engineer create derivative works transfer loan sell lease download upload or disclose the calibration data contained in this vehicle to others in any manner Whatsoever Any routine andor systematic redistribution of any portion of Roushs calibration data is expressly prohibited

Transmission

Manual transmission maintenance is not required under normal driving conditions For automatic transmissions we recommend a transmission service of new fluids and filter every 30000 miles

Traction Control

If your vehicle is equipped with traction control it can only be defeated by the operator after the vehicle is running It is primarily intended for slippery roads Due to the high acceleration capability

bull of the Stage 3 the traction control feature can engage while accelerating at wide open throttle on dry pavement This feels as if the engine is malfunctioning although it is functioning as intended Please be sure traction control operation is not mis-identified as an engine malfunction

NOTE The traction control feature can be useful when traction conditions are sub-optimal

Tire Maintenance

1 Check your tire pressures on a regular basis at least once a month Underinflated tires wear unevenly and are more likely to fail from overheating Overinflated tires also wear improperly contribute to a harsher ride and are prone to damage from road hazards Roush Performance recommends that you follow the tire pressure guidelines listed on the decal on the drivers side door pillar This information should also be listed on the decal on the inside of the glove box door Inflation pressures are always cold inflation that is measured after the vehicle has been sitting for a minimum of 3 hours

2 Maintain wheel balance and front end alignment Balance concerns are usually noted as a general vibration throughout the vehicle while alignment concerns manifest themselves as the vehicle pulling either to the right or the left If either of these conditions exist contact your dealer for service

3 Do not rotate your tires The tires are directional and the front and rear are different sizes

Tire Replacement

The proper wheel and tire combination is fundamental to every performance vehicle Make sure replacement tires diameter aspect ratio and load rating match what was supplied with your vehicle as speedometer odometer and ASS brake operation are based on these factors The use of tires larger than originally supplied may interfere with operation of these components and could possibly cause vehicle damage Smaller tires may not properly seat on the wheels causing a dangerous operating condition

Changing a Flat Tire

1 Set the parking brake For automatic transmission vehicles Place gear selector lever in P position For manual transmission vehicles Place gear shift lever in REVERSE Turn off the engine and block the wheels diagonally oppOSite the flat tire

2 Remove the jack from stowage and adjust the jack height to fit under the vehicle near the flat tire Apply hand pressure to the jack while turning the jack handle counterclockwise to lower its height

3 Using the supplied air compressor inflate the spare tire to 60 psi

4 Loosen the wheel lug nuts about 12 turn with the lug wrench

5 If replacing a FRONT tire position the jack in the Section 4 - Drive Belt Routings notch under the vehicle that is closest to that tire If replaCing a REAR tire position the jack between the bolts (as shown) under the exhaust hanger nearest to that tire On convertible top vehicles bull position the jack under the rearmost point of the frame connector

6 Turn the jack handle clockwise to raise the vehicle until the tire clears the ground

7 Remove the lug nuts and wheel install the spare wheel and tighten the lug nuts evenly in a crisscross pattern as shown in VIEW A ~0L

8 Lower the vehicle until the tire touches the )C()ltC0~(ground and securely tighten the lug nuts in the ~ same sequence

Interior and Exterior Care Note Carefully follow the manufacturers directions when using any product and always test cleaning products for suitability on an area that is inconspicuous

Leather Interior

Real leather is not uniform by nature and may have scars scratches and wrinkles Regular maintenance will protect the leather and help it retain its natural beauty To clean your leather use a mild soap or leather cleaner and wipe the surfaces with a damp soft cloth Dry and buff the leather after cleaning with a dry soft cloth

Washing Your Vehicles Exterior

To protect your vehicles exterior finish it is important to wash your vehicle often Industrial fallout road tar tree sap and other foreign materials can damage the finish on your vehicle Generally the longer the contaminant remains in contact with the finish the more extensive the damage that may occur Damage resulting from these and similar conditions is not covered under your vehicles warranty so care should be taken to keep your vehicle s exterior clean

Body Styling Components

Use a sponge or soft towel and warm soapy water to clean these parts- Do not use a scrub brush or abrasive cleaner on them as it may damage the finish andor component Also be careful not to bring these parts into contact with brake fluid wheel cleaners and other such products which can


stain crack or otherwise damage these components If these agents do come in contact immediately rinse the affected areas with clean water to remove them as soon as possible

Some Other Suggestions

Avoid automatic wash systems entirely as they can scratch the painted surfaces of your vehiclebull These scratches are especially visible on dark-colored vehicles Furthermore some types of washers apply both high pressure and temperature to the vehicle which can result in heat distortion and loosening of the Roush Performance body styling componentsfeatures on your vehicle For these reasons Roush Performance recommends only hand washing your vehicle

Aluminum Wheels

Your Roush Performance wheels have a protective clear coat applied to protect their finish Clean your wheels with commercially available wheel cleaners that can be applied to wheels having abull protective coating Do not scrub them with a brush or abrasive cleaners or use high-pressure washers or steam cleaners as these methods can either damage or remove the protective coating and will void Roushs warranty Once your wheels are clean rinse them thoroughly with clean water and dry Be aware that cleaning your wheels also gets your brake pads wet so use caution when applying the brakes the first few applications after cleaning
