The Round Rock Express capped off a four-game series victory over the San Antonio Missions with a 4-3 win in Friday night's series finale at Dell Diamond. Round Rock opened the scoring in the second inning as LF Yordan Alvarez jumped aboard via a fielding error prior to a double by 2B Jack Mayfield. An ensuing Taylor Jones groundout plated the first run of the evening. An inning later, E-Train SS Alex De Goti singled prior to a two-run blast off the bat of RF Kyle Tucker, his 14th of the season. The Missions began a comeback in the fourth thanks to three straight singles by 1B Tyler Saladino, CF Cory Spangenberg and LF Troy Stokes, Jr., the latest of which plated a run. San Antonio then tied the game in the sixth with a two-run homer of their own. Following a Spangenberg walk, Stokes, Jr. went yard to knot the game at 3-3. However, the tie lasted for mere moments as Round Rock 1B AJ Reed launched a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth inning, putting the Express back on top 4-3. The E-Train defense then went to work, holding the Missions scoreless in the final three frames to preserve the series victory. Round Rock reliever RHP Ralph Garza earned the win after giving up two runs on a hit and a walk in 3.0 innings of relief. San Antonio reliever RHP Taylor Williams was dealt the loss after giving up the go-ahead run in 2.0 innings. ROAD WOES Express starter LHP Cionel Pérez looks to settle in away from home in tonight's series opener against Nashville. The lefty currently owns a 9.95 ERA in four road starts after allowing 14 earned runs on 21 hits in 12.2 innings. Conversely, Pérez sports a 3.60 ERA in four appearances, including three starts, at Dell Diamond, holding opponents to six runs on 12 hits in 15.0 total innings. The Astros #9 prospect is still searching for his first decision of the 2019 campaign. ANOTHER NEW RECORD? In April, the Round Rock Express set a new franchise record for home runs hit in a calendar month with 43. Thanks to RF Kyle Tucker and 1B AJ Reed both homering in last night's victory, the Express have matched April's total with 43 home runs so far in May. One more longball this month will set a new franchise record for home runs in a month for the second month in a row. SAY NO MORE After a tough start to the season, Express RF Kyle Tucker has turned on the gas. The outfielder nearly has as many base hits in his last 13 games than he did in his first 30. Through his first 30 outings, Tucker was hitting .211 (21-104) with five doubles and eight home runs. In his last 13 games, Tucker is hitting .370 (20-54) with four doubles, two triples and six home runs. ALVAREZ' SWEET SOUND Round Rock OF Yordan Alvarez has torched the Nashville Sounds so far in 2019, combining to hit .368 (14-38) with five home runs, 19 RBI, three doubles and 10 runs scored in 10 total games against the club. In fact, exactly one-third of Alvarez' total RBI this season have come against Nashville as 19 of his 57 runs driven in have come in this season series. RECENT TRANSACTIONS The Round Rock Express announced a pair of roster moves prior to tonight's contest against the Nashville Sounds. The Houston Astros have recalled Express OF Derek Fisher, who replaced the injured George Springer on Houston's roster. Additionally, RHP Brandon Bielak has been promoted from Double-A Corpus Christi to Round Rock. The righty, who currently ranks as the #11 prospect in the Astros organization, is looking to become the 11th player this season to make his Triple-A debut with the Express.
