Artists in Mr. Hanson’s Digital Art and Photo class were challenged to research a movement in Art History and create an original poster design using the characteristics of the movement they researched in order to advertise a modern-day product or service. These are so cool!

Students in Ms. O’Donnell’s Art 2 class completed their self-portraits. True talent here! Way to Go!

Engineering Cooking with Ms. Flaherty

Students in Ms. Flaherty’s Principles of Engineering class are learning some life skills. They have had many conversations about how things work and why do they work? The classes have included a lot of Life Skills conversations which resulted in Ms. Flaherty being asked to show everyone how to make an omelet. The class enjoyed wonderful cooking show in her kitchen and it led to her students going into their kitchens with new confidence and creating some delicious meals. These look good enough for the Food Network!

See Phoebe Johnston’s redesign. In Ms. Flaherty’s Introduction to Engineering Design students were asked to find something in their house they could take apart, analyze how all the pieces work, and figure out how to redesign it to create a better product. Very interesting!

Science & Health

Students in Ms. Kenney’s Advanced Chemistry Class created lesson plans on Organic Chemistry. Each group developed a lesson to cover a chapter of their Chemistry book. There had to be at least 2 methods of instruction and at least one assessment. There are numerous links to videos and assessments. These are quite impressive. Well done!

Juniors and seniors in Mrs. Brown’s HCT 1 & 2 have completed a Covid-19 Caregiver Certification. Each student had to do a 3 hours video/course/quiz to be qualified as a Covid -19 Caregiver. The students received a certificate of completion to keep in their resume portfolio. Very Impressive!

Students in Mrs. Kymisiss’s Advanced Biology class worked on an independent project over the last two weeks to wrap up our unit on genetics and heredity. They chose a genetic disorder and created a Google

Slide presentation. These are so well done. Click on image to open each link. Great job, ladies!

Social Studies

Students in Mrs. Burns 9th grade History class are doing a Living History Project, where they need to choose an artifact that they would want a historian 100 years in the future to come across. This artifact needs to represent this time for them. It needs to be something tangible and something personal to them. This assignment this ties in to the tradition of Oral History that they are learning about in the Islam/African Trading Kingdom Unit. Click on the image to see the assignment. So interesting!

Covid-19 Writing Competition!

Ian Cain, the Ward Three City Councilor, shared the attached PDF that outlines the guidelines for a writing competition.

A note from Mrs. Nutley: Hi Juniors, Guidance is using Google classroom to help you with post-graduate planning. We have been inviting students to

meet with their counselor virtually. We have developed a PowerPoint and used Screencastify to record our slides on different college planning topics (What's the same and what's different, developing your college list, Common App, Naviance, Essay, Resume, and Financial Aid). We will be offering a Q & A on Google Meet next Thursday at 9:30 AM for juniors. Just login to the classroom at 9:30 and link for the Google Meet will be live for you to click on. Looking forward to hearing from you.

One Guidance

meeting ended with a surprise guest. Mrs.

Devlin and her daughter, Meggie!
