Except that he oſten referred to the little churches that he formed as “the body of Christ.” So, I suppose if people had asked him for evidence of the resurrection he would have pointed to the lives of the people in those fragile fellowships. ough they could be divisive and ill-tempered with one another, and oſten had no warmth of feeling for Paul, he saw in their expressions of love and mercy and prayer the signs of Jesus himself alive and at large in the world and for the world. “Let Christ easter in us!” wrote the English poet, Gerard Manley Hopkins, and I can think of no better words for the church in the seasons that follow our cel- ebration of Easter. Let his grit and grace find a home in our lives, so that his compassion and mercy can find a home in the wider world. As the weeks unfold from spring into summer our church staff will work with our church leaders to create spaces where we can allow Christ to easter in us. I am thinking of our gatherings in common each Sunday, as we see our community grow in numbers and in care for the wider world. I see opportunities for Christ to easter in us in the ways that we can turn toward one another with care and thoughtful concern. Summer fun in Childrenrsquos Worship will kick off with our churchwide picnic on June 9 Then each Sunday from June 16 to Labor Day weekend all children are invited and encour-aged to come straight back to the Childrenrsquos Worship area when they ar-

rive at church We will have helping hands each Sunday to provide engaging group lessons from 1000 to 1100 am that will include scripture activities and play for children of all ages This is a wonderful time for us in childrenrsquos worship to have all ages together and build friendships at all the grade levels A friendly remindermdashwe do not have a childrenrsquos message at the Sunday 1000 am church service during the summer months In addition to our summer chil-drenrsquos worship program you are always welcome to have your children join you in the sanctuary to expe-rience worship together as a family We have special areas in the back and upstairs seating that allow for a bit more wiggle room Additionally if your children are chatty like mine you can also hear the service with them in the church parlor

Vacation Bible School is on August 26 27 and 28mdash back by popular demand Registration will open in June Our theme ldquoGodrsquos Love Is Everywhere What Is Your Callingrdquo One of the most valuable components of our Va-cation Bible School is our own congregation Children best understand calling by seeing examples and hav-ing hands-on experiences Knowing how God provides joy love and direction in onersquos own life can be a tricky

ldquoThis trip was a profound experience which I believe will have a lasting impact on my life going forward hellip I was greatly impressed by the kindness and consider-ation that people showed to each other and the general sense of humor that we maintained when faced with

the challenge of travel and lodging in the Middle East In these troubled times this trip restored my faith in human nature and gave me hoperdquo

ldquoI feel fortunate to belong to the Round Hill Church whose members feel able to have a variety of personal beliefs all centering around the inspirations and words of Jesusrdquo

ldquoAs we leave so many of us have said we have a new appre-ciation of the Bible mdash both the Old and New Testaments The Bible came alive as we visited so many places with Dan reading biblical passages associated with each place We will probably never hear those passages again without visualizing a place a moment and timerdquo

There is a sign at the entrance to the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem that reads

We are hoping that If you enter here as a tourist you would exit as a pilgrim If you enter here as a pilgrim you would exit as a holier one

Journey to JersalemOur Holy Land team returned on April 10 from an incredible 14-day pil-grimage through Israel Palestine and Jordan Each day was filled with ad-venture and exciting educational and

eye-opening experiences I hope you will take a few minutes to read about our trip Scroll down the Church Facebook page wwwfacebookcomroundhillcommunitychurch beginning March 27 The photos and verses will help put in con-text and perspective our trip and time together Our team met each evening to recap the day and reflect col-lectively upon the sights we had visited and the lessons learned Read everyonersquos reflections on the Church website at the link wwwroundhillcommunitychurchorgjourney-jerusalem On Sunday June 16 during our 1000 am worship service our team is looking forward to sharing stories photos and experiences with the entire congregation Since we have returned some team members have written post-trip reflections Here are some samples

ldquoThis trip was a profound experience which I believe will have a lasting impact on my life going forward hellip I was greatly impressed by the kindness and consider-ation that people showed to each other and the general sense of humor that we maintained when faced with

the challenge of travel and lodging in the Middle East In these troubled times this trip restored my faith in human nature and gave me hoperdquo

ldquoI feel fortunate to belong to the Round Hill Church whose members feel able to have a variety of personal beliefs all centering around the inspirations and words of Jesusrdquo

ldquoAs we leave so many of us have said we have a new appre-ciation of the Bible mdash both the Old and New Testaments The Bible came alive as we visited so many places with Dan reading biblical passages associated with each place We will probably never hear those passages again without visualizing a place a moment and timerdquo

There is a sign at the entrance to the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem that reads

We are hoping that If you enter here as a tourist you would exit as a pilgrim If you enter here as a pilgrim you would exit as a holier one

I am not sure we are holier but our pilgrimage cer-tainly brought each one of us back changed deeper faith stronger friendships and more connected with our-selves one another and with God and for that we will always remain grateful for our journey to Jerusalem

Grace peace and shalomDan Haugh
