THE FOUNDATION: AT THE HEART OF OUR ROTARIAN COMMITMENT

The year 2013-2014 is the launch of The Rotary Foundation new grants model.

Our District, it must be acknowledged, has belatedly made aware of this new device: therefore, it seems to me important to renew the training effort initiated the year last plan "Vision for the future".

With our DGE Elwin ATMODIMEDJO and District Trainer DGN Milton INNISS, we prepare a specific Rotary Foundation training seminar for the Conference of District 2014.

By against, if there is one thing that has not changed it is our commitment to financially support the Rotary Foundation:

• In pledging to contribute regularly, through EVERY ROTARIAN EVERY YEAR program;

• By organizing fundraising events dedicated specifically to The Rotary Foundation;

• Recognizing those who are committed with PHF presentation.

Zone 34 News Make ROTARY HAS HEART a centerpiece for membership growth by Rotary Coordinators Paula Matthews and Marcy Ullom A key reason people are drawn to membership in Rotary is the promise of working on meaningful service projects. Clubs with multiple projects offer more opportunities for involvement at all levels, making members feel they are contributing to an important effort and making a difference in their community. Your club has one of these opportunities on Valentine’s Day, 2014 by engaging members to feed hungry children in your community through our Zones 33-34 Project called Rotary Has Heart. Many clubs already have such projects—Backpack Buddies, donations to a local food bank, or perhaps volunteering at a local shelter or feeding program. We hope you will schedule at least one of these projects or develop a new one for Valentine's Day 2014. Your club will demonstrate again to the community and prospective members that you do have heart. Use this event to engage new members. Working together to deliver an experience that will keep members active, engaged and happy with their decision to join Rotary will help them understand the value of Rotary. Rotarians want to work on relevant projects. Without such opportunities, they will quickly lose interest in your club. Giving new members an active role in your club makes them realize an immediate connection. So why not start now? Identify new members and potential members interested in fellowship and service in your community and involve them in this project. This is a win/win for all concerned. Let the media in your community know about your good work; don’t forget the importance of public image. Increase your appeal to prospective members through this service project. Rotary International has seen a noticeable increase in prospective members from communities where there has been a major public relations campaign and service project. Rotarians join and stay with their clubs primarily because they seek opportunities for community service, fellowship, and friendship. Think of the many non-Rotarians you know are looking for the same things. Invite them to help with this service project and see for themselves how Rotary connects leaders to make a positive change. ROTARY HAS HEART! Rotary Has Heart is our effort to feed hungry children on Valentine’s Day 2014 in Rotary Zones 33-34. All clubs are asked to participate in some way.

District 7030 News Rotary Community Corps of Cariacou Remember, a few years ago, Cariacou was a Rotary club who unfortunately had to stop its activities. However, the Rotary Club of Grenada East had kept a close relationship with this community that has been organized today and became the Rotary Community Corps of Cariacou. In a few weeks, the surrender of Charter will end the process of creating, but will give the starting point of Rotarian engagement with our communities.

R.I.P. Guillaume HUART By Anna Berchel, Rotaract of Pointe à Pitre

I am sorry to announce you the death of Rotaractor Guillaume, from the Rotaract Club of Pointe-a-Pitre (Guadeloupe). Many of you have met Guillaume during the 26th Annual District Conference held in Guadeloupe, and some of you might have had the chance to know him closely. Unfortunately, Guillaume passed away on Friday 1st of November, in a car accident in Ankara, Turkey at the age of 30. Apart from being a very talented young professional, he had recently been promoted to lead driling engineer on a petrolum platform in Turkey. He was also an excellent rotaractor who truly embodied the spirit of Rotaract: a kind heart, a beautiful spirit and a true engagement. He shared joy and happiness around him, with his family, his co-workers, his fellow rotaractors and all other persons who had the luck to meet him. Despite a very early end, Guillaume had a life well lived, and achieved the goals he had set for himself. We are thankful he found the way to Rotaract so we had the opportunity to meet with him. From our friendship, We have only good memories. May you rest in peace Guillaume. For those who would like to contact his family or show some support, please contact at: Pauline Huart 10 rue de Lesdain - Cidex 751 - 59400 Seranvillers [email protected]

Nouvelles des Rotary Clubs Official Visit to Barbados Clubs Bookmark a page in District history during an official visit, it is that happened to me on October 26th in Barbados, ending my official visit by the holding our first Club Presidents meeting. The day before, 10 attendees at a Council of Governors meeting was for me a great time. But what of this DG Visit’ closing evening, jointly organized by the 3 Rotary clubs where I could meet with Rotaractors and Interactors. Unforgettable! And also moving as all the participants gave me a standing ovation at the end of my message to Rotarians. Finally, my dear Barbadian Rotarians, my dear AG Katrina, for a week, let me feel as a Badian!!!!! Pour plus d’informations, visitez le site www.rotarydistrict7030.org

Look on our Future! Interact Club of Lakshmi Girls’ Hindu College contributes to Polio Plus Program

THE INTERACT CLUB OF LAKSHMI GIRLS' HINDU COLLEGE designed a sticker for sale at the college in a project to support the polio plus programme. Rotaract Club of Sangre Grande Central gives to Rotary’s End Polio Fund

October 23rd, President Darcell Cooseelal, on behalf of the Rotaract Club of Sangre Grande Central, inform me that a sum of USD 550.00 (11 members contributing USD 50 each) was donated to Rotary's End Polio Fund.
