GLOBAL GRANTSEMINAR
ast Meeting our attendance was not good. We missed our music, jokes and food. When everybody is present it makes our meeting more lively and feels like a bigger family reunion. L
But thanks to Edward Manansala who brought the Rotary Club Northville, it made our club meeting full pack. And yet, we are still stuck to James' resort due to Oxford Hotel issues with CDC.
Last Saturday PP Glo Nether-cutt, PP May Shilton and I attended the seminar on Global Grant. It was jointly hosted by our club and Dau, as the cluster’s project for the month of October. The Global Grant Workshop was conducted by PP Glo Nethercutt, who is also the district grant chair.
At the end of the workshop, the assembly discussed the global. I considered myself to be the blessed president and a proud member of RCM because of our secretary Glo who initiated this Global Grant to make this happen. After the Global Grant seminar, we continued our monthly cluster meeting presi-ded by AG Rey Mallari. This saves me extra time and day for this month’s cluster meeting attendance.
Mabuhay, God bless RCM!

GLOBAL GRANT WORKSHOP - A CLUSTER 3B PROJECT
he program started on time, 4pm, with Pres. Cris of RC Dau moderating. AG Rey Malllari delivered the welcome address T
and called the roll call of the 10 clubs.
PP Glo Nethercutt started her talk with the intro-duction of Rotary’s new logo and website, and then presented the step by step application of global grant online. The workshop culminated with the presentation of different Water and Sanitation projects (bio sand filter, ram pump, toilet blocks and multi hand washing station) as Global Grant projects (to choose from) of the cluster. Contribution and participation of the clubs were discussed along with the kind of project that 10 clubs would implement. The inter-national partners are initiated by RC Galesburg former RCM PP McGee.
The attendance of 10 clubs was perfect opportunity to conduct the monthly meeting agenda of the cluster for the month of October. AG Rey Mallari presided, got the commitment of the clubs for upcoming district events and activities.
AG Rey Mallari
As requirement of participation in a global grant project, each president and PE of the club signed a Memorandum of Understanding, attested by AG Rey Mallari. The certified attendance to the workshop would also fulfill another require-ment before a club could conduct a global grant project.
The ceremonial toast was given in appreciation to the interntional partners RCs Galesburg and Princess Ann, to the upcoming cluster project and to the undeniably close relation among the 10 clubs in cluster 3B.
n our line of service, extending help to the needy--sometimes we cannot help but face the bitter reality that we cannot save all the children we are helping. Sometimes our intervention is late--I
meaning when our help was sought-- it was late for the child to be saved. There are times also when our hands are tied because of lack of funds or our inability to raise enough funds to cover a child's medical treatment. But over the years we are involved in the medical/surgical program of our Club, we try to do our best. In the course of our involvement in this Project--- sometimes we cannot help getting emotionally attached to the children we are helping.
One such case is that of a 14 year old boy Jarell Dungog from Barangay Anunas Angeles City. This boy was first referred to us by the social worker of Angeles City DSWD. Jarell has rheumatic heart disease. His medical records were forwarded to RC Combaitore Saicity hoping he could be included under the Gift of Life Program. His case was rejected- because it was considered as high risk.
The family is indigent-- the only bread winner is the mother (maintaining a small sari-sari store); the father had a stroke a year ago rendering him half body paralyzed. They could hardly sustain the cost of Jarell's medication. Mother and Jarell came to our house in Timog last September 19th when I told the mother that I will help them get some financial assistance from PCSO. I gave them a list of documentary requirements. Last Oct. 1st they returned to our house and we saw how the condition of the boy has badly deteriorated. The boy had to be carried by the mother on her back. That is when I have decided to take the boy to see our good friend Dr. Brian Tan. The boy underwent some laboratory tests and was given medicines to perk up his appetite. PP Tony advanced the money to pay for the tests and medications. We were advised to bring back the boy again last Saturday, Oct. 5th to see a pediatrician for his nutritional buildup. PP Tony took him again to Britannia since I have to join PP Glo in the Global Grant Seminar in Marlim Mansion.
MEDICAL SURGICAL UPDATEBy PP Tony & PP May Shiltion
PP May and Jarell
It was then that Dr. Brian told PP Tony that the child's condition is serious. His condition was aggravated by not being able to take the required medicines for this illness. Today, October 7th I went to see Dr. Tan to find out how we can help improve jarell's condition. He advised nutritional build up and to continue the medicines prescribed by the cardiologist. We decided to take the child again to the cardiologist in ONA to get first hand information regarding the prognosis on Jarell's condition.
We waited for four hours at the hospital while attending to another child patient Joshua Cajudo, 4 years old who has a big lump under his right armpit. Joshua will undergo surgery which will be scheduled next week. He had the necessary laboratory tests and would be back tomorrow afternoon for the pedia clearance. At 5pm the cardiologist Dr. Razon arrived and he checked again on patient Jarell. afterwards he talked to us
and said that the condition of the child is terminal. His heart is badly damaged and he needs a heart transplant. He prescribed additional medications . Tony, the mother and I were all very sad.
We told the mother that sometimes even how painful it is-- we have to let go. We can see the deep pains being felt by the mother of Jarell-- but there is nothing we can do to console her. For us-- it is also painful-- but we know that we cannot save them all. We leave everything to God's will.
Above pictures showed a seemingly healthy Jarell when he first came to RCM attention, and a deteriorating Jarell of today.
RC Saicity PP Suresh wrote:
Dear PP May and Tony,Greetings! Thanks for your mail. glad to know
that PP May is fine now and all her therapies are over. I am so glad for her.
Sorry for the delay in taking the 2 children who are ready to come to India. Our Club is little short of funds and by the month end we will try to get it approved. Pls be assured that me and Anand are working on this project and this is our top priority.

ARTIFICIAL LEG SUCCESS STORY
A 48 year old mother, Merlita Soliman, came forward at the medical mission in Conception on August 31. She needed an artificial leg. Thanks to the coordination and generousity of the RSL (Dante Deverera), the Mabalacat Rotary Club (May Shilton), the local Barangay staff (Khim Canono) and the Jesus Datu Medical Center in San Vicente, Bacolor, it is reported that she was checked and fitted for a new free leg. These groups and individuals should feel proud they have yet again significanly changed another family's life! Thank you,Greg MannRSL - VP

UPDATE: SKILL TRAINING CENTER
he 36 trainees of Consumer Electronic TESDA course Tstarted on 1 Oct 2013 at the
Skill Training Center under the spon-sorship of PP Jon Lansangan of RC Pampanga North. The course is held side by side with the 8th batch sewing class. Below, a representative (in black jacket) from a manpower company visited the Skill Training Center with Sapang Biabas barangay rep Lorna Narciso to invite the trainees to apply with their company in Clark for possible employment.
