    The Rotaract Club of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce is a Social

    service club which works in various fields towards the betterment of society and

    also helps in grooming the personality of an individual. Abiding to its motto "To

    live is to help", the club tries to do whatever good it can to the people around.

    The following report contains a summary of the Club's Projects of last three

    years. It has details about the club's associations with different organizations

    and how we helped them.

    The Club has proudly associated with an NGO, Samvedna Institute for Special

    Children, located in Shalimar Bagh, Delhi. The institute provides need-based

    programs for mentally disabled persons of all ages ranging from 2-60 years of

    age for various types of disabilities mainly related to slow mental growth of an

    individual.

    In the session 2011-12, under the leadership of the then President Rtr. Raghav

    Goel, the club organized a tree plantation drive and two blood donation camps,

    along with collection of clothes for the under-privileged people. The club also

    assisted Samvedna Institute in setting up stalls at various venues. At these stalls

    members of the club volunteered for selling the goods made by students of

    Samvedna. The funds raised through these stalls were utilized for betterment of

    the institute and its students.

    Club's major project in the session was collecting donations through donation

    slips for the Samvedna Institute. Club members worked hard to gather a sum of

    Rs. 33000/- which was used to install an air conditioner in the institute's

    premises.

    In the session 2012-13, President Rtr. Sushant Jain, had set the ideal standards

    for dedication and hard work. In august 2012, with a new team comprised of 55

    members, the club members started with their first assignment collectingdonations for Samvedna Institute through payment booklets. In about 3

    months, the club was able to accumulate a sum of Rs. 87,500/- for the noble

    cause. The amount was used to carry out renovations at the institutes

    premises. Renovations started on 29th December 2012. Tiling, making Shelves in

    the classrooms, shifting of childrens rooms and making separate Occupational

    Therapy and Speech Therapy rooms were the major tasks done. Therapy rooms

    were also fitted with aluminum doors. Renovations took place under the

    supervision of Rotaractors. Duties were assigned to each one of them to visit the

    institute in pairs from time to time and see the progress. The whole work took

    13 days to complete i.e. it ended on 10th Jan 2013. Project samvedna was a

    huge success and the club even followed up with it by paying regular visits to

    the school and spending some quality time with the students there.

    Apart from the renovations and visits the club also undertook to volunteer at

    stalls of handmade innovative items put up by Samvedna Institute at various

    locations across the city. These stalls were a regular occasion for the Institute,

    exhibiting useful, attractive and innovative items, made by the samvedna

    students, like folders, lunch bags, hand bags, mobile covers, bottle covers,wallets etc, the team managed to collect a lump sum amount which contributed

    towards the growth and development of the institute. It helped the students to

    develop their inter-personal skills and boost their morale.

    Apart from the Project samvedna, the club organized two blood donation

    camps, the first at Metro Walk, Rithala on 2nd September 2012 collecting 154

    units and second at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College in march collecting 119 units.

    Next, members from the club volunteered at a polio booth at the JP Health

    Centre in Jahangirpuri, North Delhi, around 8 rotaractors worked at the booth in

    shifts the whole day to assist the doctors and health professionals in action.

    Also a tree plantation drive was carried out by the club in association with

    Indian Railways wherein 150 saplings were planted at New Delhi Railway

    Station.

    The club organized its first ever Eye Check-Up Camp in collaboration with the

    Rotary Eye Care Unit and Saint Sai Charitable Trust at St. Sai Modern Public

    School, Shalimar village. Around 200 students from class nursery to 8th were

    checked and prescribed for eye defects. The club even offered its sincere efforts

    by making a contribution towards the victims of Uttrakhand Tragedy.

    In the session 2013-14, under the guidance of President Rtr. Riddhi Gupta, the

    club gained new heights. With more projects, more hard work and a more vast

    reach the club had set milestones.

    The very first project of the session was collection of donations for St. SaiModern Public School, Shalimar Bagh. St. Sai Modern Public School is an

    education centre for a large number of underprivileged children of all ages from

    adjoining slums. A total amount of Rs. 30,000/- was raised for St. Sai Modern

    Public School through donations. With the help of these funds, a Water cooler

    (with filter), 8 Desks and a Pin Board were gifted for the schools up gradation

    on the occasion of Children's Day.

    The club organized 3 Blood Donation Camps in the session collecting a sum of

    616 units of blood. A Tree Plantation Drive was conducted in the premises ofMetro Walk, Rohini. A good total of 100 saplings were planted. Saplings of

    Neem, Kaner, Jamun, Arjun and Lehsu were planted in the park area of Metro

    Walk to improve the greenery there.

    Project Manthan was a major project of the session. The motivation for the

    project dates back to August 2013 when club members visited the Shakurpur

    Centre of Manthan. Manthan is a holistic education program initiated by Divya

    Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan where under-privileged students get a chance of their all-

    round development. A need was realized that the club could fulfill. The clubmembers raised funds worth Rs.1,15,000 via donation slips for Manthan

    Institute till December 2013.

    The funds were utilized to convert an empty factory outlet into a Manthan

    School, giving some more slum children a supplementary school. The work was

    carried under the supervision of Rotaractors, who enthusiastically paid visits to

    the site to look after the ongoing work. At the earlier stage, of converting the

    outlet into a habitable school, the work comprised tasks of flooring,

    distempering walls and placing tiles in washroom. All this was done in the firstmonth. Other activities like purchase of furniture (tables and chairs), white

    boards and fixing of tube lights, switches etc took place simultaneously. The

    structure includes 3 classrooms for Nursery, Classes I & II, 1 washroom and a

    common area. The school began functioning on 21st April, 2014. The club also

    bought water filters for 9 branches of Manthan. With the remainder sum of Rs.

    14,200, the club sponsored education of 2 children at the school.

    In the session 2014-15, under the leadership of determined PresidentRtr. Srishti Sharma, the club has brought various laurels.

    First in the row was the inauguration of Tihar Jail Rehabilitation Center

    on 10the july, 2014 for developing the prisoners with some vocational

    skills.

    President Elect Training Session (PETS) and Secretary Elect Training Session

    (SETS) were held on 19thJuly, 2014. Presentations and seminars to train the newaspirants were carried out by highly skilled counselors.

    Surprise visit was paid on 23rd

    July at Manthan School. An Interactive Session

    was held with the students there.

    Installation Ceremony for the District Administrative Committee, 25th

    July

    2014.It was proud moment for the club to witness pinning of Rtr Riddhi Gupta,

    Rtr Garima Dang and Rtr Garima Gulati.

    Orientation ceremony was witnessed on 7th

    August, 2014. Record breaking 500+

    Applications was received for membership.

    The Tree Plantation Drive at Nirmal chhaya, Jail Road,Tilak Nagar in

    collaboration with Government of India was held on 21st

    August, 2014. 350

    saplings were planted. A team of 60 rotaractors participated in the event. The

    able guidance of Mr. Arun Tyagi, Assistant Supritendent helped the club in

    completing the event.

    On 7th

    September, Annual Blood Donation Camp took place at Metro Walk,

    Rohini. The new team proved its mettle by collecting 273 units of blood. There

    were 2 operating buses at the camp site. One of Rotary Blood Bank Tughlaqabad

    and the other of Noida Blood Bank.

    3-Day collection drive held from 16th to 18th September 2014 in the College

    Premises for pulling out J&K from its Flood issues. Sahyog 2.0 was an extension

    to sahyog 1.0. It was done in Shalimar Bagh district under expert guidance of

    Shrimati Mamta Nagpal, Area Counselor of Shalimar Bagh. The club received 8cartons of mens clothes, 20 cartons of womens clothes, 5 cartons of childrens

    clothes, 2 cartons of toiletries, 4 cartons of warm blankets, 115kgs of rice, 25kgs

    of flour, 5 cartons of biscuits, and other materials like baby cerelac, shoes etc.

    The club celebrated Diwali with Manthan students on 19th

    October. Celebration

    was followed by planting of saplings to mark Eco friendly Diwali.

    Rotaract Sggscc conducted two workshops on the theme of DISASTERMANAGEMENT and TRAFFIC RULES for Saint sai students. The session was

    followed by a DIWALI art and craft competition.

    DJJS arranged festive stalls by Antardrishti and Antarkranti group on 20th and

    21st october.

    The club endeavored to excel in many fields. Its just a beginning, and lot more isyet to be done.
