WelcomeThe Rosemoor team are delighted to welcome you to the first RHS Garden Rosemoor Flower Show. After months of planning we are excited to be hosting this new event and look forward to developing it as part of our annual calendar of events.

This year we have 20 specialist nurseries, six trade exhibitors and of course, don’t miss the pop-up catering areas, which our catering team have prepared especially for this occasion.

Please do check the timetable of talks and demonstrations that will be taking place in our fabulous new building the Garden Room. If you have a specific question of your own, our Gardeners’ Question Time sessions will be the perfect opportunity to get the answer.

RHS Garden Rosemoor is one of Devon’s leading gardens and now attracts more than 200,000 visitors each year. As part of your visit today I encourage you to venture outside of the show area to explore all aspects of the garden as we have so much variety for you to see. We would love to hear which part is your favourite.

I hope you have an enjoyable visit today and I look forward to welcoming you back soon.

We are thrilled to be staging our first flower show. Before you in the show area are specialist plant nurseries offering fantastic quality plants for sale. Each exhibitor has created a small show garden to highlight the plant gems on offer, and to inspire you with fabulous plant combinations. With such a wealth of expert growers to hand, now’s the time to seek advice on what to buy to fill those tricky garden areas. The RHS Advisory team is also available to answer your gardening questions.

Rosemoor is exceptional at any time of year and in August there is much to see and enjoy. The Hot Garden, packed with vibrant reds, oranges and yellows, has reached its crescendo. See it from a raised terrace to experience the full spectacle of flower power. In contrast, the Exotic Garden has a jungle feel with lush foliage in myriad shades of green. The two rose gardens epitomise an English summer idyll and together incorporate 2000 plants and 200 varieties.

Exciting developments are afoot in the garden. In spring we created an orchard focusing on regional Devon apple varieties, and this autumn we are redeveloping the Spiral Garden (see page 11 for more information).

The team at RHS Garden Rosemoor hope you enjoy the first flower show, as well as our garden, which is full of colour and a warm welcome.

Cool GardenThe Spiral Garden, the last original garden room in the Formal Garden, was constructed in 1991 and after quarter of a decade is set to be redeveloped with an exciting new theme and design helping to keep Rosemoor fresh and contemporary. Landscape and Garden Designer Jo Thompson, a Chelsea Gold medal-winner, has created a new theme and design for this area. Water is to be the main focus of the new Cool Garden design, which will demonstrate practical and innovative methods of managing heavy rain. Rain water will be channelled down rills into an ornamental pond while permeable paving will help reduce water run-off. In contrast to the Hot Garden, the Cool Garden will feature plants with grey and silver foliage and pale pastel, white and blue flowers.

Rosemoor newsThere are seasonal highlights to be admired and enjoyed at every time of year at RHS Garden Rosemoor.

Amazing autumnThe colours of Rosemoor’s National Collection of Cornus, the acers, Liquidambar and all the fruit and vegetables make for impressive displays in autumn. We’d love to welcome you back to the garden, so why not combine a visit with a fabulous autumn event? Last year Apple Day caught everyone’s imagination with apple displays and stalls selling apple- and cider-based products. For family fun come to Woodfest, sponsored by Stihl, to witness dramatic chainsaw-carving demonstrations and a whole variety of woodcrafts. The Festival of Trees is now incorporated into Woodfest and focuses attention on ornamental trees. There’s a trail to follow around the garden too.

See how our garden glowsCome and explore the garden as dusk falls. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 17 November to 6 January until 8pm. Join us on a newly extended trail to see spot-lit champion trees and silhouettes of the formal gardens and their architectural plants under the glow of colour-changing LED lighting illuminations. The annual Winter Sculpture Exhibition adds extra interest.

Delicious and great value suppers are available to enjoy, and hot and cold drinks and snacks will be available from the brand new Shepherd’s Rest. On selected evenings there will be live music, art, craft and antique fairs lending a wonderful festive atmosphere.
