The Gophers come into this matchup on a four-game winning streak, while the Huskers have dropped two straight. Despite that fact, Nebraska is still ranked in the top-25 of the College Football Playoff, AP and Coaches Polls. The Gophers haven’t had much success against ranked opponents and have lost seven straight games against teams in the top-25 dating back to 2014. Their last win, however, came against No. 21 Nebraska in Lincoln on Nov. 22, 2014. The Huskers may also be without their leader and starting quarterback Tommy Armstrong, Jr. The senior QB, who became Nebraska’s all-time leader in total offense, had to be taken off the field on a stretcher at Ohio State last week due to a concussion. The Gophers bread-and-butter is their ground game, where they rely on heavily on quarterback Mitch Leidner and running back Rodney Smith, who have combined for 1,303 yards and 20 touchdowns through nine games. This battle in the trenches will come down to a few key plays late in the game. Do you like offense? If so, tune in for this one. Baylor and Oklahoma both rank in the top 20 in scoring offense, averaging 40 points per game, and the top 10 in total offense, with more than 540 yards per game. How these two teams get to those rankings, however, couldn’t be more different. The Bears have the No. 6 rushing offense in the country, averaging 278.5 yards on the ground per game, while the Sooners rank 8th in passing offense with 342.3 yards per game. Oklahoma has been without NFL-caliber running back Samaje Perine for stretches of the season, which has put a damper on their rushing attack, but the NCAA single-game rushing yardage record holder is expected to be back on the field against Baylor. The Bears have a balanced run game with a trio of players tallying more than 400 yards on the year. Both defenses have been porous this season, with each allowing at least 25 points per game, but Baylor has been effective against the pass, holding opponents under 200 yards per game through the air. The team that can win the battle between Oklahoma’s passing offense versus Baylor’s passing defense, will likely come out on top. Washington has been the talk of the Pac-12 since August. Most writers thought this could be the year the Huskies broke through and reached their potential, and so far, they’re right. UW slid into the No. 4 spot in the College Football Playoff rankings this week, but face their biggest challenge of the season this Saturday. After a slow start for USC, the Trojans have rattled off five consecutive wins and scored 40-plus in four of those games. The Men of Troy saw their season turn around when the reins were handed to freshman quarterback Sam Darnold, who has led USC to a 5-1 record and has thrown 20 touchdowns to just four interceptions. The Huskies have a stellar, young quarterback of their own in sophomore Jake Browning, who leads the nation in passing efficiency (202.8) and touchdown passes (34), and has planted himself firmly in the Heisman Trophy conversation. With such impressive offenses, this game should come down to whoever has the better defensive game plan. Washington has a top 20 total defense, ranking 13th against the pass and 44th against the run. USC isn’t fair behind in rushing defense, ranking 52nd, but could be in trouble with its 55th ranked pass defense. Weekly Polls

Week 11With a Texas A&M loss, the Pac-12 is now in the top-four as Washington slides into the final spot in the College Football Playoff rankings. The Big Ten remained the top conference with four teams in the top-10 and five schools in the poll overall. The Pac-12 added a new face to the race with USC checking into the CFP Poll at No. 20. The committee also has taken a liking to Colorado over Utah, despite the fact that both the AP and Coaches Poll has the Utes ranked higher than the Buffs.

The College Football Playoff rankings are selected by a 12-person committee of current athletic directors, former college football coaches, a former Secretary of State, and a current media member. The committee will issue its first rankings Tuesday, November 1, with subsequent rankings taking place the next five weeks.

The Associated Press Poll is made up of a panel of 61 sports writers and broadcasters from around the country.

The USA Today Poll is also known as the Coaches Poll and is selected by the Amway Board of Coaches, made up of 64 head coaches at Bowl Subdivision schools. All are members of the American Football Coaches Association.
