Rorschach TestIn the story Flowers for Algernon, the main character, Charlie Gordon, had to take a
Rorschach test. This test is more commonly known as the inkblot test. The Rorschach
Test was developed by a Swiss psychiatrist named Hermann Rorschach. This test was
designed to determine a person’s personality traits, fantasies and mental state by
interpreting a his/her responses to the inkblot images.
Look at the following inkblots and record what it
looks like to you.
How to make an inkblot:
1.Fold your paper in half, put your name on it2.Unfold the paper and using the paintbrush, dab some paint blotches on the paper
• Do a few in the center• Do a few on the sides (not too far from the
center)• Do not put too much paint on the paper or
it will just be a big blob3.Fold the paper in half and press the two sides together gently4.Open it up and you have an inkblot
Homework:
1. Record the responses in complete sentences of at least five people who see your blot:
a. Nameb. Relationship to youc. Images they saw
2. At the bottom of your paper, answer the following questions in complete sentences: a. Did all of the people respond in the same way?
b. Could you see all of the pictures that other people did?
c. Do you think that what the people saw says anything aboutthem?
