ALL JAMES BAROUD ROOFTOP TENTS

Tent Fabric

We guarantee you won’t find a higher-quality, better-performing fabric on any rooftop tent. All of our tents utilize a proprietary aluminized polyester with acrylic coating that is 100% waterproof, breathable, UV-resistant, non-perishable, and solar-reflective. All windows are covered with quality insect-proof netting.

Mattress

One of the most important features of a rooftop tent is the part you sleep on: the mattress. All James Baroud rooftop tents feature a thick, moisture-resistent 3” high-density foam mattress. Mattresses have a heavy-duty zippered cover for easy removal and cleaning.

Interior Storage

Tents include a removable storage pocket as well as large ceiling storage

net for stowing keys, wallets, headlamps, clothing, or anything else you need to

quickly stash inside the tent.

Assisted Opening

All James Baroud tents feature a patented gas strut-assisted opening mechanism, making set up incredibly fast and easy - less than 30 seconds, and nearly as quick to collapse back down.

New for 2016: Completely redesigned strut system makes opening and closing hardshell tents much easier; closing force has been reduced by over 40%!

Simple Mounting

Hardshell and folding tents are simple to install. Tents feature reinforced mounting rails integrated into the lower shell/platform of the tent, and include installation brackets allowing easy direct mounting to most aftermarket roof rack systems.

Industry-leading Warranty

Our rooftop tents come with the most inclusive and longest warranty in the market: 5 years for hardshell tents and 3 years for folding tents. Warranty covers manufacturers defects and failure of tent fabric, shell, and strut mechanism.

James Baroud tents are designed to allow replacement of any part of the tent by your local authorized dealer.

Durability and Extreme Weather Performance

James Baroud employs a former Dakkar Rally driver to conduct testing on each tent. All of our tents have passed grueling durability tests, and you can sleep in confidence knowing that James Baroud tents are waterproof and tested in winds up to 60mph. For added comfort in extreme temperatures add an Isothermic insulation kit to the interior of your tent (see accessories).

Ladder

Access to the tent is easily gained by using the specially-designed telescoping aluminum ladder. Our unique design automatically adjusts to the height of your vehicle and prevents binding while you’re in the tent.

Outer Shell

The outer shell of all James Baroud hardshell tents utilize fiberglass-fortified polyester.

Aerodynamic ribs on the upper shell help improve wind noise and fuel economy as well as provide additional structural strength and rigidity.

Several tent models include an integrated storage tray in back with tie-down points for securing up to 65lbs. of additional cargo*

Ventilation

James Baroud hardshell tents feature a unique electric ventilation fan powered by a sealed solar panel on the top of the tent shell. The ventilation fan is completely waterproof and can run for 24 hours on a singe charge. Includes a secondary fan blade that can be installed to change air movement from exhaust to induction, allowing the ventilation unit to operate ideally in any climate.

Additional air vents with integrated dust filters on each side of the tent provide air circulation inside while the tent is closed.

LED Lighting

All hardshell tents feature a bright 15-LED rechargeable wand. Made of tough polycarbonate with an integrated belt clip, the lights may be removed from the tent and carried around camp to illuminate your way wherever you go. Includes a charge indicator LED as well as a USB charging cord.

Two Size Options

New for 2016: All James Baroud hardshell tents are available in two sizes: Standard and XXL. Standard size tents are great for two adults. XXL models are a true 3-person tent.

DISCOVERY EVOLUTION

The compact model in the line of rooftop tents, the Discovery Evolution rooftop tent offers all the features of the larger models in a versatile and easy to manage size. The Discovery Evolution has two entrances and large wrap-around windows that maximize airflow and provide a 270-degree view. For extreme conditions, ventilation can also be assisted by the solar-powered ventilation system. Access to the tent is easily gained by using the folding ladder that comes standard with all James Baroud rooftop tents and attaches to either side of the tent.

DISCOVERY EXTREME EVOLUTION

The Discovery Extreme Evolution offers all the great features of the Discovery with the added benefit of a recessed storage tray on top. Along the perimeter of the storage area are six tie-down points permanently mounted to the shell to assist in securing your cargo. The innovative design of the raked roof profile helps increase air flow circulation through the tent. With its large doors and 270-degree windows, cross ventilation is fantastic. For extreme conditions, ventilation can also be assisted by the solar-powered ventilation system. Access to the tent is easily gained via the standard telescoping ladder.

DISCOVERY SPACE EVOLUTION

The unique design of the Discovery Space Evolution increases overall roof height in the rear of the tent to 52”, making it the tallest tent in the lineup when open yet just as compact when closed. This added height makes changing and moving around inside the tent easier and more comfortable. The Discovery Space Evolution utilizes the same 270-degree window design as the other Discovery series tents, providing great views and airflow. For extreme conditions, ventilation can also be assisted by the solar powered ventilation system. EVASION EVOLUTION

The Evasion Evolution hard shell rooftop tent offers a new way to look at vehicle adventures. With its larger overall internal space, the Evasion Evolution provides comfortable space for adults to sit upright in either end of the tent. With its full 360-degree panoramic windows, air circulates freely through the tent in warmer climates. For extreme conditions, ventilation can also be assisted by the solar-powered ventilation system. Access to the tent is easily gained by using the telescoping ladder that comes standard with all James Baroud rooftop tents and can attach to either side of the tent.

EXPLORER EVOLUTION

The Explorer Evolution features the popular design of the Evasion Evolution but adds an integrated storage tray on the upper shell, with six tie-down points to assist in securing your cargo. The luggage rack on top of the tent gives you more space inside your vehicle by allowing you to store those large, bulky items (like camp chairs or tables) on top of the tent instead of inside the vehicle. In addition to the 360-degree windows, ventilation can be assisted by the solar powered ventilation system in extreme conditions. Access to the tent is easily gained by using the telescoping ladder that comes standard with all James Baroud rooftop tents.

GRAND RAID XXL EVOLUTION

The Grand Raid XXL Evolution rooftop tent is the premium model in the James Baroud lineup and is the XXL version of the Explorer Evolution. The Grand Raid XXL Evolution includes all of the features available in the hardshell tent lineup, including full 360-degree panoramic windows, a solar-powered ventilation system for extreme climates, integrated storage tray on top with tie-down points, and enough room to sleep three adults. HORIZON VISION

The Horizon Vision has set the bar for innovation and evolution as the first folding rooftop tent in the world with assisted opening via gas-charged struts. The Horizon Vision is also the lightest rooftop tent in the world due to a full aluminum structure, aluminum-composite floor with insulating interior layer, and no need for a noisy rainfly. The unique design of the Horizon Vision also makes it the only folding tent in the world to offer clear waterproof windows on the front and rear as well as corner windows, increasing airflow and providing great panoramic views. When closed the Horizon Vision is protected by a heavy travel cover that attaches via thick elastic cords, eliminating the need for difficult zippers. NOMAD 160

The Nomad 160 is one of the strongest folding tents on the market due to an aluminum frame with large-diameter poles that make up the ”skeleton” of the tent and an aluminum-composite base. Access to the tent is gained under a covered entrance that is simple and fast to set up. Two telescoping legs support the tent allowing the ladder to be removed and taken inside the tent for security purposes. As with the Horizon Vision, the Nomad 160 requires no rain fly as the tent’s aluminized fabric is already waterproof. Closing of the tent is easy thanks to elastic banding built into the canvas that keep it retracted as it is closing. The protective travel cover is a zipperless design that instead utilizes an elastic cord, making set up and packing quick and easy, especially in cold, wet climates.

ACCESSORIES

Awnings

James Baroud awnings are a “bag-less” design, making them the easiest awnings on the market. Our unique design allows the awning to roll into itself and is closed by using straps. The awning material is made of the same aluminized fabric that our tents are made of, making them waterproof and solar reflective. Ours are the most compact, aerodynamic awnings in the world; they fit where others won’t and provides the clearance needed when off-road.

Awning Enclosure

Our enclosures are made from the same material as our tents; they are 100% waterproof and UV resistant. The enclosure consists of three panels and attach directly to the awning, along with a zipper connection that allows them to be attached to each other. The enclosure includes two large, screened windows and a door, providing easy access and plenty of insect-proof ventilation. Our awning enclosure creates a completely sheltered room, adding privacy and convenience to your camping experience.

Vehicle Insulation Kit

Keep the heat in or out with our reversible vehicle insulation kit. In the warmer months the sun can increase the temperature inside the car dramatically. This is due to the sun heating the interior components of the vehicle via visible and infrared lights. It is only compounded by the fact that without airflow, the heat is slow to dissipate.

In the winter time you can help combat the cold temperatures inside your vehicle by reversing the reflective side towards the inside of the vehicle. Doing this will help slow the transfer of warm air by radiating back toward the inside of the vehicle. The black PVC side acts as insulation to help keep frigid temps at bay.

Isothermic Kits

James Baroud Isothermic kits easily attach to the inside of your tent and act as an added layer of insulation to increase comfort in extreme temperatures as well as reduce noise and light infiltration. Isothermic kits help increase temperatures inside the tent during winter and keep temps down in hot sun. Kits can be left installed when the tent is closed.

Eco Bag

At James Baroud we pride ourselves in keeping the landscape pristine. Our Eco Bags are made of waterproof material and attaches to a spare tire for easy access. The bag has plenty of room to dispose of waste, or haul additional gear in or out of camp.

Luggage Bags

We understand the importance of storage on camping and long distance expeditions so that’s why we incorporate storage areas in selected models. While you can use your own luggage bags, we offer waterproof bags that are a perfect fit for our tents.
