Romans 11 11 I say then, Have they (the Jews) stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

2

God's desireGod's desire is not that His people fallfall and be utterly cast downcast down, but rather,

That they realizerealize what they have lostlost, and returnreturn to God through Jesus Christ.

12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; …

3

The salvation of the Gentiles has certainlycertainly been a great benefitgreat benefit to the whole world.

Most of the good done for mankinddone for mankind in the last 2000 years, has been done by the churchchurch.

12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fullnesshow much more their fullness?

4

When the Jews, as a whole, receive Jesusreceive Jesus as their MessiahMessiah in the end time, and they willthey will,

The blessingblessing to the world will be even even greatergreater.

Page 5: Romans 11b The Church Age

13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: 14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation (jealousy) them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.

5

Because mostmost of the Jews, and especially the religious leadersreligious leaders rejected the Gospelrejected the Gospel,

Several of the ApostlesApostles, and especially PaulPaul, turnedturned to the Gentiles with their message.

Page 6: Romans 11b The Church Age

But, even as he turnedhe turned to the Gentiles, Paul's hopePaul's hope was always that some of the Jewssome of the Jews would believe.

6

He prayed that Jews would see the blessingsee the blessing of the Gentiles, realizerealize what they had lost,

And turn backturn back to God through Jesus Christ.

Sometimes we don't realizedon't realize what we hadwe had, until we lose it.

Page 7: Romans 11b The Church Age

7

We must learn to valuevalue the good things in our life beforebefore we lose them.

Page 8: Romans 11b The Church Age

Value each moment.

8

Making good memories doesn't have to cost a lot of money.

We just have to savor the good times.

Page 9: Romans 11b The Church Age

15 For if the casting away of them be the recon-ciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

9

When the Jews returnreturn to God, it will be the greatest timegreatest time in the history of the world.

16 For if the first-fruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.

10

Christianity grew outgrew out of Judaism, coming from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,

Down through the millennia to Jesus Christ.

We want to be gratefulgrateful to those patriarchspatriarchs of faith, who ledled the way to the coming of Jesus.

Yes, some Jews rejectedrejected the Lord, but others showed us the wayshowed us the way.

Page 11: Romans 11b The Church Age

17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; 18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

11

Israel was the original olive tree, chosenchosen and cultivatedcultivated by God.

We gentiles were a wildwild olive tree.

Page 12: Romans 11b The Church Age

The new branch doesn't support the original tree. It's the tree that supports the new branch.

12

Page 13: Romans 11b The Church Age

Paul was convinced that Israel’s stumbling is temporary rather than permanent and that the nation will be restored as God’s people… The first-fruits and the root represent the patriarchs of Israel or Abraham personally, and the lump and the branches represent the people of Israel. As a result Israel is set apart (holy) to God, and her “stumbling” (rejection of Christ) must therefore be temporary.

19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. 20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not high-minded, but fear: 21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest He also spare not thee.

14

Cause and EffectWas Israel made to stumble to opento open a door of

opportunity for we Gentileswe Gentiles to be saved?

No; they were broken off because of unbeliefbecause of unbelief.
