Guidelines for the Public Celebration of Masses beginning July 5th, 2020 at St. Josaphat
Those not feeling well or with health conditions
should remain home at this time. The obligation to assist at Sunday Mass remains suspended by the Bishop. You can continue to watch Mass on TV or the computer.
We make every effort to sanitize door handles, pew tops and edges, etc., after each Mass.
Facial coverings must be worn in church, except for children under 2 or for medical exceptions.
The priest and Deacon will not wear masks—except when distributing Communion-- but maintain proper distancing.
Please sanitize your hands when entering church. It is available at each door or bring your own.
Common Holy Water fonts are not in use. You may use your own bottle to take home from dispenser.
Please take a seat several feet from others. Family units can sit together. Alternate pews are taped off. We can only use 25% capacity so if full, please come to a later Mass or participate online.
No worship aids are in use. Music Ministry is lim-ited to musician and cantor. No altar servers yet.
There will be no entrance, offertory, or recessional processions.
There will be no physical exchange of peace. For the Communion Procession please keep a six-
foot distance between you and the person in front. If you have an offering, drop it in the basket in the
center aisle at this time. You are urged to receive Holy Communion in the
hand, without touching the minister’s hand. Ministers will sanitize their hands again before
Communion, keep their masks on, reverently drop the host in the person’s hand, and if contact is made, stop and use the ablution cup and sanitizer again.
Keep your mask on when you reply Amen, then walk six feet, remove it, receive, and put it back on.
The Precious Blood will not be distributed at this time.
Anyone insisting on receiving on the tongue should go to the end of the priest-celebrant’s line.
Please exit the church when ready keeping social distance and without congregating in groups out-side.
Let’s make these sacrifices together joyfully, knowing we are protecting ourselves and the health of our brothers and sisters.
From the Pastor’s Desk Dear Parishioners of St Josaphat and Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Happy Fourth of July Weekend to everyone! Even with masks and social-distancing I hope you are able to enjoy some festivities to celebrate our na-tion’s Independence. My duties continue as Administrator of St. Jos-aphat Parish into the summer months. As I men-tioned last week, the combined number of Masses far exceeds the number of priests available, due to illness, vacations and other factors. I have no choice except to make a reduction for both parishes. We will suspend the 7am daily Mass at OLBS through Labor Day. An 8am Mass is available at St Josaphat and a 9am Mass at OLBS. The 8am Sunday Mass at St. Josaphat will be sus-pended for the time being. Our Sunday schedule of Saturday 5pm, Sunday 8am, 10am, and 12 noon will continue for now. I cannot suspend one until capacity is increased beyond 25%. There is avail-able at St. Josaphat a 7pm Saturday, a 9:30am Latin and 12noon English Mass. 7am Mass intentions will be satisfied in a combina-tion with the 9am Mass, as the bishop has given us permission to do during these unique times. Should there be an objection you can reschedule your Mass at the rectory office. The 8am Sunday Mass intention at St. Josaphat will be satisfied in a com-bination with the 12 noon Mass there. I appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these challenging times. In Christ, Father Bob

Spiritual Communion For those who are not able to receive Holy Commun-ion, it is a beautiful and grace-filled practice to pray the Spiritual Communion prayer and receive Jesus spiritually into your heart.
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
The 2020 Annual Catholic Appeal supports the daily work of our Church throughout Brooklyn and Queens in ways no one parish can accomplish alone by supporting the following ministries: Catholic Youth Ministry Initiative, Catholic Charities; Hospital, College and Prison Chaplains; Diocesan Voca-tions Office; Catholic Migration Services; Office of Faith Formation; Bishop Mugavero Residence for infirmed clergy; Futures in Education Scholarship Foundation All donations made to the ACA above our parish goal are returned directly back to our parish for operations and improvements. The ACA is independently audited each year for full transparency. Parish Goal: $25,717.00 Raised: $ 5,830.00
