No Life Teen

February 3, 2019– 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today’s Gospel talks about Jesus becoming the source of amazement and at the same time, the source of fury among his very own people. But through it all Jesus was focused on His identity and mission without much consideration to human appreciation or rejection. He understood Himself to be engaged in the prophetic ministry, to take a stand. He told and stood for the truth.

Do we as Catholics accept God as He is or do we often try to fashion Christ into our image, an image that we can manipulate, do we fashion Christ into our wants or into what other people want so as to avoid criticism?

Jesus reminds us that we cannot please everyone. What we need to do is to take a stand and that stand should always be in line with doing what is pleasing to God.

Let us live our lives according to the person God created us to be, as brothers and sisters, as sons and daughters of God. Amen.

From Fr. Steve

JOIN US FOR EUCHARISTIC ADORATION AT STAR OF THE SEA ON THE 1ST THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH FROM 8:30AM UNTIL 3:00PM

What is Eucharistic Adoration? Eucharistic Adoration is adoring or honoring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ. We as Catholics believe that Christ is truly and substantially present in the Eucharist – Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.

Outside of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Jesus remains in the Tabernacle. For Eucharistic Adoration, Our Lord is taken from the Tabernacle and placed in a Monstrance on the Altar, so all may adore Him and spend time with Him. Eucharistic Adoration is "God and Man reaching out for each other, at the same time!"

The priest uses a humeral veil for the blessing with the Mon-strance so that his hands do not touch the Monstrance…this is symbolic that Jesus and not the priest is blessing the people.

Please prayerfully consider joining the parish Eucharistic Adoration team – contact Dick and Sue Meeker at 757-228-7775 or [email protected]

Scheduling Mass Intentions If you would like to schedule a Mass intention for a loved one, you may book 2 Masses at a time. After each Mass is said you may book another. This policy is to ensure that everyone who would like to have a Mass said, has the opportunity to do so. Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please call the office at 428-8547.
