Divine Mercy Sunday - April 8Chaplet of Divine Mercy
For each of the five decades (on each “Our Father” bead of the rosary, pray): Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
On each of the 10 “Hail Mary” beads, pray: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Concluding prayer (repeat 3 times): Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Second Sunday of Easter 2 April 8, 2018
He is Risen! Alleluia! What an incredible Easter it was! Nearly 200 people gathered at the Easter Vigil to share the light of Christ, to hear the Word of God proclaimed, to witness the initiation of Brittany, Robert, Adam, Eric, and Matthew, to share the Body and Blood of Christ, and to be sent, in the joy of the Risen Lord, to proclaim the Good News. It was the culmination of an incredible Holy Week, and truly a blessed moment for our community and our Church.
I thank you, the parishioners Of St. John of the Cross for making my Lenten journey a truly blessed and, yes, challenging one. I was challenged to enter more deeply into the season and to commit myself ever more profoundly to being the person that I know God has created me to be. The celebration of Easter was that much more joyful having experienced the 40 days of Lent with all of you.
This Easter weekend, some of you submitted your Lenten cards with personal reflections of your Lenten journey. We will share them in the coming weeks. Here are a just some of your thoughts:
“This journey of the heart – taking this journey as the family of Christ – helped us to be closer in love, mercy and community. Our hearts have transformed. It has been a beautiful journey. May we continue today and always.”
“I loved being in the Adoration Room today. I was never so close to the Eucharistic presence for such a long time. I could feel His arms around me.”
As we continue the celebration of Easter, let us also continue to be a people of great joy and the people of mission ... the mission of Christ, a mission of love. Having celebrated these incredible Easter days, let us selflessly share the profound love of our risen Lord with one another and with our world.
And, thank you to Gery Petrof for capturing these precious moments on camera!
With gratitude and prayers,
Fr. Salvatore Ruggeri

Here are a few images capturing the events that unfolded during Holy Week: from the “Hosannas!” of Palm Sunday, to the Tenebrae sounds that end in silence on Wednesday, to the celebration of the Lord’s Supper and foot washing on Holy Thursday, to the Crucifixion on Good Friday … knowing that it will not end here! There are more Holy Week photos at www.Facebook.com/sjocp and www.saintjohnofthecross.org.

Parish News & Events
Our Mission We are the Catholic Community of St. John of the Cross, established in 2009. Uniting the people of God as one family, we are rooted in, and empowered by, our sacramental life and Eucharistic celebrations. Living as disciples of Jesus Christ, we recognize our God given potential and challenge one another to share our giftedness, embrace our diversity, and engage in social outreach, service and education. In doing so, we seek to extend the reign of God in Euclid and the wider community.
