Whatever your need is for product or process development assistance, Faustel’s 60 years of experience in innovative converting equipment design and manufacturing provide a solid foundation to help you with your next project. Our Process Development & Technology Center is designed to be an extension of your business, allowing critical development projects to move ahead without affecting your production equipment. The reasons for a trial can be something simple, such as testing a new adhesive formulation, or selecting a gravure roll based on coat weight. Sometimes, the objective can be more complex, such as defining an entirely new coating process, or sizing a convection dryer. Whatever the goal may be, Faustel’s state of the art facility is ready to serve your converting development needs.
Our approach starts simply with a review of your objectives and discussion of any previous development work. From there, we mutually establish a trial plan that fits your needs and then schedule the trial. Our customers are strongly encouraged to attend the trial and provide interactive feedback to evaluate and modify the variables as the trial progresses. Upon completion of the trial, you receive a complete set of samples and detailed data for each run, along with a report summarizing the machine set-up and results. Additionally, some customers request full sample rolls which we are happy to provide.
Other opportunities for trial work include the evaluation of materials for suitability with automatic transfers and rewinding, defining process specifications for thermal laminating, and establishing required energy levels for curing using UV or electron beam systems. Additionally we partner with coating suppliers to provide a platform for large scale evaluation of coating performance in real-world applications. From a single day trial to successive days occurring incrementally over many months, Faustel is able to adapt to your needs and provide you with a single resource to assist you as your project progresses.
