Formed in 1923, the Council is the UN-accredited global energy body, representing the entire energy spectrum, with more than 3000 member organisations located in over 90 countries and drawn from governments, private and state corporations, academia, NGOs and energy-related stakeholders. The World Energy Council informs global, regional and national energy strategies by hosting high-level events, publishing authoritative studies, and working through its extensive member network to facilitate the world’s energy policy dialogue. The World Energy Council is currently seeking two dynamic and experienced energy professionals to join a fast-paced, high performing content development team working in a multi-national and multi-cultural environment. General Description of roles The Manager, Transition Insights helps to deliver the Councils content agenda and work programmes, which produce original research and analysis on critical concerns about the current state of energy and opportunities for managing and accelerating robust energy transitions worldwide. The posts will work closely with the Councils community experts to deliver specific workstreams that include: exploratory energy scenarios, energy policy trilemma framework and annual Index, dynamic resilience, annual Issues Monitor and an ad hoc Innovation White Paper series. The roles will support Directors to identify and leverage new synergies between different areas of content. To facility this, they will effectively coordinate with wider Secretariat teams (Digital and Platforms Team, Networks and Communities Team) to ensure impactful dissemination of content and incorporation of member and community perspectives. • Ensure timely identification of key messages relating to new insights and implications for action tailored to differing audiences, and prepare suitable briefings and infographics

• Contribute to the further evolution of methodologies and ensure methodological transparency

• Actively support the development of new proposals aimed at deepening corporate and institutional support for ongoing and new content products, services and tools and securing wider funding

• Strengthen the capacity of member committees to use and leverage the transition toolkit, and evolve its strategic narrative on managing and accelerating robust transition that benefits all

• To present a professional and knowledgeable face to our stakeholders, and ensure our external stakeholders have a positive experience interacting with the Council’s London office and support a high standard of service to our member committees and other stakeholders

• Capable project management and organisational skills; highly organised with careful attention to detail and reassessing priorities to ensure delivery

Outputs &

Deliverables:

• Research and analyse energy systems development and evolution at global-, regional- and nation-level, and develop actionable insights for relevant policy makers, industries and businesses

• Manage projects to working collaboratively with partners and the Councils community experts to identify and collect relevant data, prepare analysis of results and develop new insights for a range of outputs

• Enable timely identification of key messages to focus new insights and implications for action tailored to differing audiences, and prepare suitable briefings and infographics

• Support development of methodologies, outputs and tools to improve transparency and credibility with all stakeholders, and helping to secure wider funding

• Build effective internal relationships to improve organisation impact and to ensure up to date content is disseminated across multiple channels to all stakeholders

• Explore opportunities for developing interactive online outputs

• Providing general support and other duties as assigned including some administrative support to Contents department and specific World Energy Council communities

• Assistance with event planning and event related communications and activities including invitation tracking and any related follow up

Background & Profile:

• A good first degree in a relevant discipline: for example, business, economics, politics, or related subject

• At least 5 years’ relevant and demonstrable work experience, such as consultancy or regulatory, in energy or energy-related fields (e.g. mobility, sustainability, technology innovation)

• Excellent English fluency with other languages highly regarded

• Demonstrated experience in research and analysis by bring together complex ideas into compelling content for insightful reports and presentations to differing audiences

• Sound project management and administration skills with good team working capabilities

• IT literacy – in particular Windows and MS Office with some desktop publication and / or coding experience
