ROLE MATRIX

RRESPONSIBLE The person who does the work.

AAPPROVER The one who signs off on the work. It’s not up to them to do the work, just to oversee that it’s done. The

approver is the person who has ultimate responsibility. An A by any task means you own it.

CCONSULTED A resource. They can advise, but not veto.

IINFORMED The people or groups who need to be notified of results or actions, but don’t need to be involved in the

decision-making process. The team keeps the I’s updated. No response is necessary.

NNOT INVOLVED Out of the loop. If someone has an N where their name and the task intersect, there is no need to update

them or involve them with that task in any way. Don’t cc them on email updates.

GGROUP It’s everyone’s responsibility, and accountability is structured in to our group processes. We’re all

responsible, for example, for making the team chat feed relevant.
