Being Brilliant – Role Profile Job Title: Junior Web/Graphic Designer Department/Location: 16 The Point/Graphic Design Department Reports to: Department Manager Summary of main purpose of the role To support and assist the graphic design team predominantly on work for direct to consumer online for uk and international digital requirements – a key part of the team responsible for keeping the Joules website fresh and on brand. Support on other channels will also be needed covering retail, trade, Licensing and internal communications. Role Dimensions and Accountabilities Direct Reports: Department Manager Senior Designers Concept Team Key Relationships: Graphic Designers Campaign Coordinator for International Direct Campaign Coordinators Direct Developers Creative Work to brief under guidance of Department Manager and Senior Designers Assist on any required direct online work predominantly web headers, email marketing, affiliate banners and web page layouts. Take UK artwork re-present translated versions for international requirements. Translate requests from marketing to create effective point of sale, promotional material, large format graphics/signage and advertisements. Facilitate image saving for trade brochures and assist with amendments. Work enthusiastically on all internal jobs, produce inspiring pieces of work for newsletters and other internal communications Produce company stationary and any other requests for business purposes Illustrate jobs such as icons plus any ad hoc brand requirements, logos etc. Support the rest of the graphic design team when required on all channels maintaining a flexible approach Play an active role in researching and developing new ideas within the team Artworking Develop typographic skills, attention to detail and an accurate eye for colour when providing creative solutions – ensure work is finished to a high level Use a good knowledge of Adobe CS softwear packages, essentially InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop and learn new tools and updated versions where possible Demonstrate the ability to handle artwork from roughly sketched visuals to delivery

• Facilitate required digital retouching and image-editing including cutting out of flat

shots, batch re-sizing and colour correction of photography. Develop the ability to work through more advanced changes and improvements to photography

• Facilitate image saving for trade brochures and assist with amendments

General

• Proactively communicate with manager to understand prioritization and address project workloads

• Continually monitor the creative industries and understand social trends. Visit creative blogs as a great source of inspiration and utilize our subscriptions to fashion and graphic magazines

• Carry out image sourcing and maintain our image library including all of our istock images

• Help to maintain the photo library and the graphic job system

   

 Being Bri l l iant – Person Specif icat ion Key Ski l ls , Knowledge, Education and Experience

• Good standard of general education with an art and design proven background. • Design qualification/relevant degree 2:1 or higher - outstanding graduate. • Additional qualifications and software training certificates are desirable. • CV demonstrating typographic flair, layout skill and a creative eye for detail. • Creative portfolio of work across design disciplines demonstrating a keen interest

and understanding of digital graphics and design for web. • Portfolio demonstrating awareness of usability and web restrictions, alongside an

understanding of designing for different devices and knowledge of online trends. • Online portfolio website is desirable. • Proven record of producing design solutions from scamp concept to artwork. • CS 5 proficient, demonstrating a working knowledge of Photoshop, In Design and

Illustrator. • Industry experience/placement evidence desirable. • Excellent presentation skills. • Exceptional conceptual skills. • Good planning and organizational skills.
