INTRODUCTION The term “Non Governmental Organization’’or NGO’s
came into currency in 1945 India has been traditionally vulnerable to natural disaster on account of its unique geo-climatic condition.
Disaster is a Natural Calamities. There are various types of disaster like Earthquake, Landslides, Volcanic eruption, Fires, Flood & Cyclones.
Disaster management occupies an important place in this country . There are several NGO’s in India & outside the country & they doing well job in our country.

TYPES OF NGO’s BINGO- It is a short term used for business friendly
international NGO’s.
CSO- It is short term for civil society organisation.
TANGO- It refers to the technical assistance NGO’s.
MANGO- It refers to the market advocacy NGO’s.
GONGO- It refers to the government operated NGO’s

Overviewof Disasters in India
The Indian sub continent has been exposed to disasters from time immemorial.
The Unique geo-climatic and socio-political
conditions of the Indian sub-continent make the region vulnerable to both natural and man-made disasters.
The increase in the vulnerability in recent years has been serious threat to the overall development of the country.

Coupled with lack of information and communication channels, this hadbeen a serious impediment in the pathof progress.
Considering the vast area of the Indian landmass, around 57% of the land is vulnerable to Earthquakes, 69% of the area is vulnerable to drought, 12% is vulnerable to Floods and 8% of the land is vulnerable to Cyclones.
Figuratively speaking, around one million houses are damaged annually, compounded by human, economic, social and other losses.

CONCLUSION
Disaster management requires multi-disciplinary and pro-active approach.
This is a major task being undertaken by the Government to put in place mitigation for vulnerability reduction.
This is our goal and we shall strive to achieve this goal with a missionary zeal.
