ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION
A management information system (MIS) provides information that
organizations require to manage themselves efficiently and effectively.[1]
Management
information systems are typically computer systems used for managing. The five
primary components: 1.)Hardware 2.)Software 3.) Data (information for decision
making),4.) Procedures (design, development and documentation), and 5.) People
(individuals, groups, or organizations).Management information systems are distinct
from otherinformation systems because they are used to analyze and facilitate strategic
and operational activities.
The Role of MIS From efficient data processing shops
to understanding the goals and objectives of an Organization
to participating directly in the decision making and strategy formulation
Knowledge Users: Users take on increased responsibility. Identify applications, and conduct systems analysis and design.
Better Applications: More specific, user friendly, functional, lower price, readilyavailable, and self training. Results: less need for programmers IShead count andbudget decrease as a result.

9. Sales force management system
Sales force management systems areinformation systems used in CRMmarketing
andmanagement that help automate somesales andsales force management
functions. They are often combined with amarketing information system,in which casethey are often calledcustomer relationship management (CRM) systems.
Sales force management systems are essentially the same thing as sales force
automation system(SFA).
A SFA, typically a part of a companyscustomer relationship management system,
is a system that automatically records all the stages in a sales process. SFA includes a

contact management system which tracks all contact that has been made with a given
customer, the purpose of the contact, and any follow up that may be needed. This
ensures that sales efforts are not duplicated, reducing the risk of irritating customers.
SFA also includes asales lead tracking system, which lists potential customers through
paid phone lists, or customers of related products. Other elements of an SFA systemcan includesales forecasting, order management andproduct knowledge.More
developed SFA systems have features where customers can actually model the product
to meet their needs through online product building systems. This is becoming more
and more popular in the automobile industry, where patrons can customize various
features such as color and interior features such as leather vs. upholstered seats.
An integral part of any SFA system is company wide integration among different
departments. If SFA systems arent adopted and properly integrated to all departments,
there might be a lack of communication which could result in different departments
contacting the same customer for the same purpose. In order to mitigate this risk, SFAmust be fully integrated in all departments that deal with customer service management.
Making a dynamic sales force links strategy and operational actions that can take place
within a department. the SFA relies on objectives, plans, budget, and control indicators
under specific conditions. In order to perform the objectives correctly, specific
procedures must be implemented:
10. Automation software
Automation Anywhere Standard is automation software that gives you the power toclaim back hours in your workday. The software captures and executes your most time-consuming, repetitive tasks with flawless precision, leveraging built-in technology thatrecords keyboard and mouse actions as you perform a task. Capture, edit, and rapidlyreplicate a wide variety of tasks and processes that would otherwise slow you down and do it without any lengthy infrastructure code or scripting.
Automation provides means of staying competitive by automating simple and complextasks across applications. Users realize a quick ROI by saving both time and costs, increase business and IT process reliability and speed while reducing the possibility ofhuman error.
DatabaseA database is an organized collection ofdata. The data are typically organized to
model relevant aspects of reality in a way that supports processes requiring this
information. For example, modelling the availability of rooms in hotels in a way that
supports finding a hotel with vacancies.

Database management systems (DBMSs) are specially designed software
applications that interact with the user, other applications, and the database itself to
capture and analyze data. A general-purpose DBMS is asoftware system designed to
allow the definition, creation, querying, update, and administration of databases. Well-
known DBMSs includeMySQL,MariaDB,PostgreSQL,SQLite,Microsoft SQL Server,Microsoft Access,Oracle,SAP HANA,dBASE,FoxPro,IBM DB2,LibreOffice Base,
FileMaker Pro andInterSystems Cach.A database is not generallyportable across
different DBMSs, but different DBMSs can interoperate by usingstandards such asSQL
andODBC orJDBC to allow a single application to work with more than one database.
Purpose of database
A DBMS has evolved into a complex software system and its development typically
requires thousands of person-years of development effort.[4]Some general-purpose
DBMSs such asAdabas,Oracle and DB2 have been undergoing upgrades since the
1970s. General-purpose DBMSs aim to meet the needs of as many applications as
possible, which adds to the complexity. However, the fact that their development cost
can be spread over a large number of users means that they are often the most cost-
effective approach. However, a general-purpose DBMS is not always the optimal
solution: in some cases a general-purpose DBMS may introduce unnecessary
overhead. Therefore, there are many examples of systems that use special-purpose
databases. A common example is anemail system: email systems are designed to
optimize the handling of email messages, and do not need significant portions of a
general-purpose DBMS functionality.
Many databases haveapplication software that accesses the database on behalf of
end-users, without exposing the DBMS interface directly. Application programmers may
use awire protocol directly, or more likely through anapplication programming
interface.Database designers and database administrators interact with the DBMS
through dedicated interfaces to build and maintain the applications' databases, and thus
need some more knowledge and understanding about how DBMSs operate and the
DBMSs' external interfaces and tuning parameters.
Network in Reliance communicationLAN( Local Area Network)
A local area network (LAN) is acomputer network that interconnects computers within
a limited area such as a home, school, computer laboratory, or office building, using
network media.[1]The defining characteristics of LANs, in contrast towide area networks

telecommunication lines.
ARCNET,Token Ring and other technology standards have been used in the past, but
Ethernet overtwisted pair cabling, andWi-Fi are the two most common technologies
currently used to build LANs.

DCR Billing PackageCDR Based Convergent Billing and Customer Care system.CDR based
convergent billing and customer care system. is Under Implementation stage inReliance. This is an biggest project taken by any TSP(Telecom service provider) in
India. This project is going to replace all the existing systems of Commercial, TRA(Telecom Revenue Accounting), FRS (Fault Repair Service) and DQ (DirectoryEnquiry). The project will cover the customer care and billing for the following services:
1. Landline
2. Broadband
3. CDMA
The project is not simply a replacement of the existing systems, but it is much
more than that. For the first time in the history of reliance, we are going to have State-of-the-Art Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. This software will takecare of all types of requests from the customers and integrate with other systems suchas Order Management and Billing systems.
This software will also provide a Web Self Care (WSC) module which willenable customers to access the system through Internet for placing any request, formaking payments, or for general enquiry.
CONVERGENT BIILING advantagesThis project shall implement a convergent billing system, which enables us to issue a
single bill for a customer taking any type of service from Reliance..
The electronic stapling software shall be implemented in all the four zones.
A customer having presence only in a particular zone, spanning across SSAs and
Circles, can have a single bill for all the services he takes from Reliance whether the billfor the particular service is prepared or not from this system.
The electronic stapling software installed at Hyderabad, shall take care of Corporatecustomers having All India presence.
This system will have interfaces with other zonal billing systems, GSM billing systemsand the NIB billing system.
With these interfaces, it is possible to issue a single bill to a Corporate customer

having All India presence.
The system is also capable of taking the payments against this single bill and then
distributing the payments back to the original billing systems of the different
services taken by the customer for proper accounting.
This is one of the biggest advantages of this project.
The system will also help us introduce Combo Plans, offering flexible tariff plans
to customers availing Land line, Broadband and GSM services.

ERP BASIC What is ERP?
ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning. It is packaged software designedfor client/server architecture. It integrates the majority of business process andtransactions. fulfilling all laid down business rules. ERP attempts to integrate all departments andfunctions of a company into a single system that can serve all departments' needs.Anextensive change management concept ensures the acceptance and motivation of theend users.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is a term usually used in conjunction with
ERP software or an ERP system which is intended to manage all the information andfunctions of a business or company from shared data stores. An ERP system typicallyhas modular hardware and software units and "services" that communicate on a localarea network or on Intranets . The modular design allows a business to add orreconfigure modules (perhaps from different vendors) while preserving data integrity inone shared database that may be centralized or distributed .

Advantages of ERP
Integrate financial information
Integrate customer order information
Standardize and speed up manufacturing processes
Reduce inventory
Standardize HR information
Some security features are included within an ERP system to protect against both
outsider crime and internal control
ERP Systems centralize the data in one place. Benefits of this include:
Eliminates the problem of synchronizing changes between multiple systems Permits control of business processes that cross functional boundaries
Provides top-down view of the enterprise (no "islands of information")
Reduces the risk of loss of sensitive data by consolidating multiple permissions
and security models into a single structure.
Problems with ERP
Some large organizations may have multiple departments with separate,
independent resources, missions, chains-of-command, etc, and consolidation into
a single enterprise may yield limited benefits.
Resistance in sharing sensitive internal information between departments can
reduce the effectiveness of the software.
The blurring of company boundaries can cause problems in accountability, lines
of responsibility, and employee morale.

21/21
Once a system is established, switching costs are very high for any one of the
partners (reducing flexibility and strategic control at the corporate level).
Many of the integrated links need high accuracy in other applications to work
effectively.
ERP systems can be very expensive
Re-engineering of business processes to fit the "industry standard" prescribed by
the ERP system may lead to a loss of competitive advantages.
